Vikings Defeat Bears 20-13; Climb to 8-6
Honestly, I have no idea how in the blue hell we won that football game.
Four turnovers, including 3 INTs by Tarvaris Jackson. . .and two of those were of the "terrible" variety.
Not a lot of offensive production, but the defense played an outstanding game, and the Vikings didn't allow Devin Hester to kill them. In fact, they did a pretty decent job of keeping him contained.
More on this one tomorrow. . .I'm too damn drained to discuss this any further right now. (-:
To the Bears, Cardinals, Eagles, and Lions. . .enjoy your off-seasons. Please pick up your consolation prizes on your way out.

Matt Birk
He never gets called out because his run blocking is so good, but his pass blocking this year has been awful.

The rest:
This game needed to happen now. Because it very easily could/will happen in January. The Vikings turned the ball over twice in which he received credit for it when the first was on Ferguson, the second on AD. He forced it after that, making over-zealous decisions and bad throws off-balance. He redeemed himself leading two solid drives in the 4th quarter.
Peterson:
It was his Monday Night debut after the worst game of his life. He pressed, and it showed. He wasn't hitting holes and attacking defenders like he should. He was not receiving hand offs correctly. Luckily, he's so talented he eventually redeemed himself in the 4th quarter.
O-Line:
They got beat tonight again till the 4th quarter. For all the credit they're getting for the holes they can open in the run game, give me the 03-04 lines in a passing situation of this line.
Play calling:
Awful.
They need to run more screens. With these backs it's the most explosive play in the book for them, almost an automatic first down and more. It boggles my mind that they aren't running a screen every 3rd pass play.
Also, Tony Richardson needs to be in more passing downs. It's a dead giveaway that when he's in, it's most likely going to be on the ground. When he's not in, it's in the air. He's so good and needs to be blocking in these screen plays the Vikings need more of.
Defense:
Yes, it was Kyle Orton. But worse quarterbacks have done better against this defense (JT O'Sullivan, anyone?) this year. 32 rushing yards and the Bears going 1-14 on 3rd down is something to be applauded.
