Not sure if it's been discussed...
But why the blue hell didn't we go for 2 after the Berrian TD? With points as difficult to come by as they were yesterday, and with the game already well into the 3rd quarter, I thought we would obviously go for it. Damn near lost it 10-9, then everyone would have been discussing it a lot more.
Another Childress bonehead move? Or am I making too big a deal out of this?

A bonehead move is correct.
Chili talked about it in the post-game interview and apparently his math skills are as pathetic as his coaching skills because he thought if we went for two and missed it we wouldn’t be able to win with a field goal.
They were railing on this topic on KFAN this morning. Fantasy Football Czar, Paul Charchian, took Chili’s point of view and everyone else on the planet took the opposing view.
Fire Childress!

He's Worried...
I think it’s possible evidence that Childress is coaching scared and, therefore, uber conservatively, because he’s worried about his job. This would seem counterproductive (statistically, as has been pointed out by everyone from Easterbrook to Simmons to whomever, NFL coaches are too conservative on 4th down attempts, 2-point conversions, etc.), but I think that’s what’s going on. He’s hiding behind path-of-least-resistance tactics, even when they’re not the right tactics, because he’s really trying to lay low. He’s worried if he tries for two and can’t get it, it will be seen as his fault. A one point attempt is much less objectionable/safer/predictable. Less likely to grab the owner’s attention.
Just like in Tennessee, the infamous punt because he “thought they’d get the ball back.” B.S. He isn’t that dumb. (At least I hope not.) No. He didn’t want to risk increasing the margin of defeat, because he’s doing everything he can to tip the scales in his favor while we wait for the inevitable.

Childress gave the following explanation:
“If we didn’t get the two, we couldn’t win the game with a field goal.”
Aside to Childress:
8 + 3 = 11
11 > 10

OMG
This is the proof in the pudding that this man has NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fucking clue.
That along with his brillant quote about why he punted the ball in the Titans game.
Classic Clueless.

WOW
I didn’t realize that was his rationale.
So basically a 3rd grader could make better coaching moves?

No, he didnt go for it because if we had failed and the lions scored a TD on their next possession we would have been 2 scores down instead of being in the same situation – a TD and a 2point conversion away from the tie.
Never go for a 2point conversion in the 3rd quarter. It sends the message to your offense that you have no faith they’ll score again.

Wrong message?
You don’t think it sends the message that I think you can overpower their defense for three yards?

how?
So by me running a play with AD or whomever catchs the 2 points that shows that we cant do that again?
Uhhh no thats just playing to not lose, not playing to win. I.E. What childress needed to do yesterday
Completely crap call. It doesn’t send out that message, I really don’t have any idea how it could…
“Oh hey guys, we are going for 2 because uhhh we are down by 2 and would be tied.”
“WTF DUDE SO WE CANT SCORE? IS THAT WHAT YOUR SAYING?”
“Uhh no I was actually going to put faith in my offense and put them out there to try and tie the game up for me.”
“Well if we go for it it shows us that you quit on us…”
“4mins left in the 3rd, 15mins in the 4th, I would think the total opposite, that even if we dont make it I still have faith we can get this game done with the remaining time.”

Going for 2 in the third quarter is reckless. I think that you are also forgetting that we did get inside the redzone twice earlier in the game and 2 fumbles only kept us from points. I think Chilly did have a reasonable amount of faith that the Offense could get inside the 30 at least one more time to take the lead.
Here’s another thought: by actually staying behind (losing) he gave the entire team a reason to stay fired up and fight hard. After all, it did appear that apathy and carelessness had gripped the team earlier.
The extra point does something else too: it kept the lions from reclaiming some momentum by stopping the 2 point conversion.

Yeah, I’d rather get that single point than try and gamble to get the two. Honestly, there was no purpose to go to two. Tie the game? Why? There was a whole other quarter to play yet. Two point conversions are saved, usually, for the fourth quarter, on the last TD when you NEED two points to win. The PAT is the best way to go otherwise.

Honestly, I thought we should've gone for two.
But there are good arguments both ways, I don’t blame people at all for thinking the other way. It ended up not mattering, and we won, so I’m just going to try to be content.
In AP I trust

A different take
going or not going for 2 puts faith, or lack of faith on the shoulders of the D. going for 2 means that you trust your D to get the stop. Not going for the 2, means you don’t trust the D to hold the opposing Offense from scoreing again.
Personally I’ll take my chances with our D. even if we miss, our D will get the ball back for our offense.

We won!!! Isn't that the point!!!
After hanging on by a thread and not being able to put more points on the board it’s no wonder we even came out on top. We should have destroyed that team, but hey a win is a win. No matter which way you slice it.
The fact of the matter is this: We got the North this year.
