"Childress facing a tough crowd in Minnesota" by ESPN's Kevin Seifert
Ladies and gentlemen, I thought I'd heard it all...until this morning when I read KS's 23-24 paragraph analysis of why Viking fans detest Childress, I DON'T remember him mentioning that:
#1. The defense is scoring more points than the offense.
#2. Chilly kept TJ around WAY too long.
#3. Childress won't even ALLOW his quarterbacks to audible (giving a clear advantage to good defensive teams).
#4. The Vikings LUCKED their way to 3-3 (had Minn not gotten two lucky officiating calls, they'd be 1-5 and Childress would be gone soon).
#5. My great-grandfather is guessing most of the plays before they snap.
#6. The team has been UNPREPARED and SLUGGISH almost every game this year.
(Need I continue? I could, but I need to eat, so I'll stop here...)

well
yeah we got two calls for us, but in two of those losses we got two against us.. i’m not disagreeing with you at all, i’m just saying lucked into 3-3 isn’t necessarily true.
What up?

okay...
I’m not as big a chilly hater as some of you guys out there but i’ll say this… It’s about time that Minnesota fans get on their team and start to criticize. We’ve always been too soft on our sports teams and that has to stop if we want a championship. I’m glad to see the title of this Seifert guy’s title, “Childress facing a tough crowd in minnesota.” I like it.

well...
I hate the guy as much as anyone, and can’t wait to see him go…
but the childish chants and the constant whining and bitching has to stop….
Minnesota fans are starting the get the fair weather label…..we’re 3-3, and tied for the division lead….all done with an overrated team, a sluggish offense, and a coach who doesn’t get it…
enjoy it people….

Focus your energy on Bevell
I’ve been on the “Fire Childress” bandwagon for a few weeks now, which is probably ironic given that they’ve won two in a row.
I’ve also been thinking about what the major problem is with the Vikings. Why is it that we aren’t 6-0 instead of 3-3 (with two barely scraped by wins).
I think the answer isn’t Childress – I think the answer is Bevell.
Take a minute and ponder the situation.
Childress makes weird calls, lots of obvious calls, and plays conservatively. Could it just be that Bevell is the one calling these offensive schemes, and Childress is taking the heat for not correcting his mistakes?
Do we just really need a QB that is younger than 35?
I don’t know – but if the Vikings keep winning, I’ll be happy. If they keep scraping by, with weird penalty calls that save the day – I’ll know where to direct my anger.

I can't believe
All the people whining and pissy that we we ’’lucked’’ our way into 3-3. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THE REST OF THIS FRANCHISES EXISTENCE? Have you not seen the numerous times the Vikes have gotten completely HOSED by refs, circumstance, lady luck, whoever…I will NEVER discount a win as lucky because the Vikes have an abundance of karma coming back there way for what our past has done to us.

PS
The players seem to love Chilly so whatever gets us wins. Allen himself said “chilly is my guy” or something like that. The players like him so firing him right now would just be disastrous. Wait till the year is over or if we hit 4 or 5 more losses.

Brad Is Bad
We have to deal with it until Ziggy does the right thing. Jared Allen should focus on his game and not who is man is. I’m getting tired of watching 69 take the seven yard outside rush and tagging the running backs as they run his side. Watch him this week he has one move very predictable.
As far as Viking Fans being “Fair Weather” – no way – we have never had a good last game and yet we still care – Hello!

I’m new on here and i’m a huge viking fan. So to all the viking fans who are loyal and offer honest and straight forward opinions, it’s always good to here the feedback. In the league since ’61 and have yet to win a ring. We need to speak up and let our voices be heard…raise the horns.
Childress most go…
Should’ve NEVER wasted so much time on T-Jack !
The play calling is to conservative and Childress’s stubborn attitude doesn’t help matters. Even the eagles bitched about his conservative play calling.
Here’s the flip to it though. We are 3 and 3 and tied for the division which i didn’t expect to see from the first two games of the season. I’m fine with that.
Childress has made one wise decision though, putting in Gus. Now I know Gus isn’t anything great or even legendary, but he is getting pressure off of AP, who as of late is losing the ball a lot, which I won’t blame on anyone but him. Gus is also making big time plays down the field which the likes of Jackson never did in his year and a half as the starting QB. We have a great run defense, a great run game and all we need is a major role in taking charge on the field and I think if anybody Gus has been giving us that.
Bottom line is we need the QB spot affordable at all cost.

If you're a huge Vikes fan, then...
…why does your ID say vikingFIEND? (fiend reminds me of old RPG games and a fiend was an enemy)

No enemy here. I’m certain of that. But this isn’t a RPG game anyway.

actually, it is a RPG..
we all, myself included, form or views and opinions as if we were the owners…
if I were owner, I would have replaced the HC before the season started….I would have obtained Jeff Garcia or Chad Pennington…..I would demand more blonde cheerleaders….

Actually I stuck with Jackson in Madden (I’m counting it as an RPG, shut up) and in one season he went from a 81 to 94. . . Of course, I fired Childress and Bevell.

Agreed on the RPG....
Ok so I will say that it may be an RPG. Yes, because we all would like to dictate our team to victory every sunday or come on here and run chants about childress being fired. This is why Viking fans are strong in numbers. Eventually we will be heard.
Frost, don’t know why you would stick with Jackson on any game or even encourage him to start in the real game. The kid just don’t have it behind center. Maybe tight end. But not QB. AFTER I’M HEARD, THEN, I WILL SHUT UP!!!
Hilton Head Viking, most things you post I totally agree with. I for one was so sure that it would have been the best move in recent viking years to obtain Garcia at the QB position. Gruden just doesn’t repect his talent and I would’ve loved to have him. I was also going for Pennington when the jets screwed him over for favre. Even Pennington would’ve done the job, hence giving Jackson time to learn from someone other than Gus.
I’m sticking with my opinion on Gus. He’s been grade A for us so far and we should all appreciate him.

Well, I wanted to be able to run for a good chunk of yards if the passing game broke down, that’s why I stuck with him. It’s pretty sweet now that he’s a good passer to. From zero to hero in a season. That’s what its all about.

Forgot to add this, but I was hoping we’d pick up Pennington too. He doesn’t have the arm strength of Gus, but he’s a good passer. I’d trust him behind center more than Frerotte to be honest. It’d be more consistant plays with Pennington, as opposed to Frerotte’s big-play bursts at the end of games.

Dude, Pennington would’ve been a great asset to this team like I mentioned in another post, but honestly, I would’ve liked Jeff Garcia behind center. Great in the pocket and he’s not young and too old, very moble.
I had been watching around the horn one day and they said they didn’t understand why Minnesota wasn’t going for pennington. It really beats the hell out of me why they didn’t.
