The Newest NFL Trend

There's an interesting trend I've noticed happening in the NFL these last few weeks, and it came, out of all cities, from Miami.  Two weeks ago, the Dolphins dominated the uber Patriots with the direct snap to Ronnie Brown, scoring several touchdowns and running at will.

This week, they again ran the direct snap to Brown for even more success and a win against the Super Chargers.  I even saw the Niners run the direct snap to Frank Gore in their game against New England today, gaining some respectable chunks of yardage.

Snapping the ball directly to the running back creates a clear advantage for the offense, as they have an extra blocker to rush the line rather than having the quarterback jog aimlessly into the backfield while the play unfolds.

So what say our Vikes utilize a little of this action Monday night against the Saints?  Most teams know exactly when we're going to run the ball anyways.  And with AP and Chester Taylor in the backfield and Bryant McKinnie back on the field, this play was made for the Minnesota Vikings.

You know, that’d be pretty interesting. We could put both Peterson and Taylor in the backfield with that so the defense would have no idea who’s getting the ball. The other could run block. We’ve seen Peterson pancake people before, so I think he’d be a decent blocker.

Funny thing?...

On this vary website there’s been talks about the vikings utilizing a new offensive scheme. I wouldn’t be surprised if we did something like that.

since we don't have a QB

we could pull the QB for Tahi (should be Tapeh) in place of the QB so we have a trained run blocker out there on the field.

Peterson at QB

Most people probably thought I was joking about this before the season started. Sure be fun to watch.

Yeah right!

You really think the coaches have this much imagination?
