Ha, Childress is GOD!!!
For sure one of the most exciting, underdog, un-viking like performances I have ever seen in my life!!! I don't care how many reasons, or knocks or anything any reporter, or newspaper writer or viking fan can think of... a win is a win!
We got lucky?! YEA right! How is 2 punt returns not lucky?... 'Skill?!'... Skill is catching a blocked fieldgoal in stride of a Touchdown, or sacking the QB while taking the ball away! I'll give the saints one thing outta this game... GREAT D! You took a top 3 running back in the league and completely made him disapear!
But the saints D did give up a 7 play 75 yard drive that lead to a 27-27 tie! THAT RIGHT THERE was one of the most un-viking like drive I've ever seen! Thank you Gus and Berrian! 33 yard touchdown!
Than when you thought it was over... when they missed their field goal for the lead, we have a chance.... and on 3&3 we do something So amazing! We pull off the biggest most UN-Viking like play ever! We go for the win! We didn't go for the 5 yard out and try to pound it out... WE THROW IT UP! And won the game cuz of it! Thank you Gus, Thank you Winfield, Thank you Berrian, Thank the Defense, Thank you vikings and Thank you Childress for coaching us to one of the biggest wins this season... amen!

ahem
this post is hard to take. 2 kick returns is not lucky against the vikings return coverage. this has been waiting to happen all year. i LOVED the block return by AW, but TOTALLY a flukethat it came RIGHT TO HIM. and by the way MacD, Berrian wasn’t supposed to BE there on the TD catch…oooops! then the flag that set up the winning FG…at least frerotte has figured out something about throwing the ball long in desperation…even if not caught something good can happen. it’s hard to build a winner out of these components. that isn’t to say it’s not possible to win this way. it’s just that it will always be flukey.

NA NA NA
It was suppost to be berrian first off! Its a designed play, a double post and if you watch the replay Berrian had the route and catch the whole time. Allison was his biggest defender lol but call it what you want. Win is win baby!

???
I’m pretty sure Berrian ran the wrong route from the beginning.

Really???
Frerotte, connected with Berrian for 36 yards to the New Orleans 27, then found him again for a 33-yard score to tie it at 27.
“I saw the ball go up and I said I’m going to score a touchdown no matter what,” Berrian said.
Ha what other route would he be running unless its the touchdown route? The route that he ‘Guessed’ would be a touchdown?…

Maybe the pass was meant for Allison, who was also there
And Berrian happened to benefit
I don’t actually know the answer for sure, but two guys running posts literally into each other 30 yards downfield seems an odd play, because then only one defender needs to be in that spot to defend. Now obviously it worked this time and they were able to avoid each other, but I don’t think that’s what the coach would count on happening.
I don’t think I’m going to say anymore on this subject though, since I’ve already made my opinion obvious, and nobody here really knows the real answer (including me), and the play scored a TD. It turned out well this time, so good job Berrian, whether you screwed up or not, you did the most important thing and caught the TD.

its just like a downfield cross!
The play is almost designed like a pick but I agree! TD is a TD lol i think we’re sitting good. We can really prove our selves in the division these next 2 games =)

Berrian already said
“One was supposed to go to post, and one to the corner,” coach Brad Childress said. “But they both ran to the post.”
Berrian took the blame for mistake.
“To be real honest, I ran the wrong route on that play,” Berrian said. “It was actually thrown to Aundrae. I ran the wrong route, but I was just determined to go up there and catch it. It just hung up there, and I made a play.”

thank you for clarifying that....
Berrian has more than once shown that
A. He doesn’t remember the routes
B. He runs horrible patterns
is addition another huge drop over the middle on a third down…..wasn’t that the play before the first Bush TD return….I’d like to slap the grin off his face every time he drops a ball
regardless, it was a lucky outcome and a good time to happen…
as for our Special Teams, everyone is overlooking the crappy KickOff coverage as well…..this wasn’t a fluke game….Special Teams suck, and need to improve…
and the word around the league that the Saints “gave us” the game is a crock….minus 4 in the Turnover Department rarely results in a win…. our OL, while not doing a great job of Run Blocking, did protect Gus well….
