Official Vikings/Jaguars Injury Reports

Alrighty, then, it's that time of the week again, so it's time to check out the players that are nursing the injuries that could potentially have an impact on this Sunday's game.  We'll start out with the Beloved Purple, since they're the road team in this weekend's clash.

Star-divide

Injuries: Minnesota Vikings

Probable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Bobby Wade thigh 11.20.2008

Questionable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Madieu Williams shoulder 11.19.2008
Jared Allen shoulder 11.19.2008
Vinny Ciurciu hand 11.19.2008
Benny Sapp concussion 11.19.2008
Garrett Mills ankle 11.19.2008

Out (IR / Out / Suspended / Physically unvailable)

Player Injury Type Injury Date
E.J. Henderson foot/toes 10.6.2008
Heath Farwell knee 8.11.2008
Kenderick Allen wrist 8.19.2008
Drew Radovich shoulder 10.13.2008
Jayme Mitchell knee 8.11.2008
Michael Boulware wrist 8.30.2008
Charles Gordon ankle 11.13.2008

Mills is actually showing up as doubtful on NFL.com's report, and he didn't participate in Friday's practice, so I'd be surprised if we saw him out there on Sunday afternoon.  Benny Sapp is also listed as probable at NFL.com, and had full participation in practice today.  The rest of the folks that are up there are shown as questionable on NFL.com.

I don't have any concerns about Williams or Allen being out there.  Williams was listed as doubtful before the Buccaneers' game and played, and Allen was questionable, so I'd be surprised if either of them were sidelined on Sunday.

Now, let's look at the Jags.

Injuries: Jacksonville Jaguars

Probable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Fred Taylor neck 11.20.2008
Matt Jones thigh 11.19.2008
John Henderson knee 11.19.2008

Questionable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Greg Jones ankle 11.20.2008
Omare Lowe knee 11.19.2008
Rashean Mathis foot 11.19.2008
Troy Williamson groin 11.19.2008

Out (IR / Out / Suspended / Physically unvailable)

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Chris Naeole hand 10.30.2008
Maurice Williams biceps 9.10.2008
Scott Starks knee 9.24.2008
Anthony Cotrone knee 8.4.2008
Theo Horrocks foot 8.6.2008
James Wyche Achilles 8.9.2008
Vince Manuwai knee 9.9.2008
Jonathan Lewis knee 8.30.2008

NFL.com shows Lowe and Williamson as "out" rather than questionable.  That's right. . .Troy Williamson ran his mouth about Brad Childress while (likely) knowing all along that he wasn't even going to play on Sunday.  Well done, Troy.  Show us a little more of your class.  NFL.com shows the other players on the Jags' list as probable, so we'll have to wait until Sunday to see who's on the field and who isn't.

A Tragic Injury

The absence of Williamson is a devasting blow for all those many Vikings fans who had expected to witness that promised steel cage event with Chilly before the coin toss. It also is a likely disappointment for Sharper, who possibly anticipated a big rush in business, with at least a pair of picks this Sunday, as assorted balls ricocheted from untold portions of Troy in every direction. There’s still hope that Troy is feigning a limp just to surprise us with a stellar accounting of himself. Maybe Nike will even install experimental ball-detecting radar inside his helmet and fit him with a gecko glove that will permit him to run with the football stuck to the back of one hand. Naw, way too much to wish for, but Viking fans are experienced in dealing with dashed hopes, and Jacksonville fans should be prepared for that as well.

You’d have to be when you’d challenge someone when they know you have a groin injury.

That’s true. He has a groin injury, and said he’d do it with both hands tied behind his back. What a macho man…..
