Forgive me for my bluntness, but
HOW CAN A TEAM MOVE ON BE SO COMPLETELY STUPID!?!?!?!?!? The Green Bay Packers laid a HUGE egg yesterday and their fans are starting to get very angry up there - meanwhile, Brett Favre just led the Jets over the HIGHLY favored Titans and now has a chance to win a Super Bowl in a different shade of Green.
Ladies and gentlemen, since we're probably not going to represent in the Super Bowl this year (I'm not giving up hope, but it doesn't seem like quite the right time yet...)
I am pulling for Brett to win it with NY this postseason - I will LAUGH SO FREAKING HARD I might actually go into convulsions if NY wins it and Green Bay is left crying -
Honestly, folks - besides a Super Bowl win, could there be anything better as a consolation prize than THAT? It'd probably be the closest things to the adrenaline rush of winning the big game that we're gonna get for a year or two...
I am maybe a little drunk giddy just thinking about it...

Because Ted Thompson is the GM. I couldn’t help but chuckle at some of the comments on PFT from Packers fans after the game, saying how frustrated they were with Rodgers.
Looks like those 11-5 predictions are out the window for the Pack, huh?

I'm almost ashamed to admit this but I actually enjoy watching Favre play now.
But with that being said, if they go to the Super Bowl the cheese curds get an extra 1st round pick in the draft.
I’d rather them get a 2nd or 3rd and have Tampering Ted turn that pick in to 4 or 5 6th and 7th rnd picks!
VikeGuru is a doofus!!

NOPE
I still hate Favre too much to ever cheer for him
‘And the wild things roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws’.

Don't the pack get the Jets 1st if the make the SB?
Not sure I would want that to happen.
by vikingfuture8816 on Nov 25, 2008 2:04 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I guess so...
But a pick that late is really more like a second rounder anyways. And, call me crazy, but I think the fans will be more upset that the QB that GB took a dump all over and booted out the door made it to the SB while their wonderboy QB left them out of the playoffs.

Holy insane-o
Its like the black hole of hate-mongering over here. You dudes need a PS3 or a GF or both maybe! haha!

Well...
Well, much like them, I’ve been scarred too many times by that old man in my time as a Vikings’ fan. It’s a hatred created through the ability of Favre to always find a way to pull out those rediculous wins. I, for one, am happy he’s out of the NFC completely.
But I still will never cheer for him.

Lets see
Your icon is Bevis, you are a Packer’s fan, and your icon is Bevis. I’d say you are the one in need of a hobby my friend as you clearly have enough time in your mundane life to come to a rivals blog and find something to upset you.

You guys know that Rodgers is having a better season that Favre right?
And really, the reason for the Jets having so much stronger of a record is because of all the improvements they’ve made on defense and their O-Line, while the Packers have had key injuries on defense?
We know that right?
If not, does everyone want to join my fantasy league in 09 and play for a 100 buy in?
by TMW on Nov 25, 2008 4:46 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
somehow the Jets players are totally confused then
the fluffy soft NY media is equally ignorant.
Do you think that Aaron Rodgers wins the Pats game or the Titans game if he were on the Jets?
by Lovejoy on Nov 25, 2008 5:10 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I give you credit for going on the record
but I doubt you can find anyone outside of a sanatorium who would agree with you (or someone who belongs there)
by Lovejoy on Nov 26, 2008 11:13 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Wow
So everyone would disagree with me that Favre himself held the Titans to 13 points?
by TMW on Nov 26, 2008 5:09 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t know if you’re a Packer fan who’s disillusioned by Rodgers or what.
No. Favre did not hold the Titans to 13 points. Favre DID score more than 16 points on the same defense that Rodgers faced though.
by Frost on Nov 26, 2008 5:43 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I'm not sure what to make of that sentence
but did you see either game?
by Lovejoy on Nov 26, 2008 8:45 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I think what he was trying to get at is that the Jets won the game because their defense is better than the Packers defense.
by Frost on Nov 27, 2008 8:16 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
besides the construction of it
retorting that Favre didn’t play great defense because of the assertion that he is a better player than Rodgers is disconnected at best.
The Jets offense put up thirty some points while letting off the gas at the end. They also had the ball for over 40 minutes. That’s good defense.
by Lovejoy on Nov 28, 2008 8:25 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Might want to recheck the statsheet. Favre has a better QB rating, a better completion %, more TDs, and is only 130 yards shy of Rodgers with less attempts. All this after having been moved onto a team and forced to learn the playbook in a few weeks, while Rodgers has been with the Packers doing the same plays over and over for years.
I don’t want to worship Favre, but his season is better than Rodger’s so far, there’s no denying it, and the Packers were idiots for letting the man go. But I’m not going to complain about that. Just wish we could have nabbed him.
by Frost on Nov 25, 2008 10:26 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
There is denying it
When you factor in those 4 rushing TDs, and the fact that Favre turns the ball over more, the Rodgers argument becomes clear.
But if you want to keep cherry picking stats, then I guess there wouldn’t be denying it.
Do you want to play in my fantasy football league next year?
by TMW on Nov 26, 2008 9:35 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
ah that explains it - you're talking fantasy football
things like going against the Titans versus going against a patchwork secondary of the Saints or getting 4 pass interference calls which go as a missed pass in the stats aren’t considered.
by Lovejoy on Nov 26, 2008 11:18 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
So you're saying that made Rodgers 11 weeks worth less than Favre's?
Or that Favre has thrown a pick in all but 3 games this year, whereas Rodgers has 5 without a pick?
Or that Favre threw 6 TDs on Arizona who has given up the most TD passes in the league?
Tough sell.
All Favre really has on Rodgers is record and Green Bay is not as strong as last season because their defense has been hurt and not as effective. I’m going to remind you Tarvaris Jackson went 8-4 last year, that’s about as meaningful as record is for me.
It’s amazing how easy it is to change people’s minds when morons like Terry Bradshaw and Tony Kornheiser say it enough, when all the concrete evidence says otherwise.
by TMW on Nov 26, 2008 5:19 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Umm except that Favre just beat the Titans, a team that Rodgers did not beat. They came close, but no cigar. Yeah, part of that’s the defense, but defense is only half the game.
I’m not disagreeing with you that Rodgers is having a good year. He is, by all accounts. But I would have to say that Favre’s having the better year than Rodger’s, on a new team where he had to get chemistry with new recievers, learn new terminology for plays, all that stuff.
And, if you wanna argue about the Cardinal’s game, I will direct you to the NFC North division, where Rodgers has played the Detroit Lions. Favre beat a team in a shoot out that is a playoff-contender and Rodgers gets to play a team that may go winless. Twice.
All in all, it was stupid for the Packers to kick Favre out the door.
by Frost on Nov 26, 2008 5:39 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
you're not even close
You start with a straw man argument and you still sound like you’re talking about fantasy football not actual games. Rodgers may be a superior fantasy pick, I don’t know because I don’t play any fantasy sports.

Black hole of hate-mongering?
One guy says he hates Favre and this is the black hole of hate-mongering. Do we all have to be supportive and even-toned Dr. Phil?
Not to overstate what should be obvious, but this is A VIKINGS FORUM! Why (besides the always popular “because I can” excuse) would a Packer fan even come over here except in hopes that he can be upset by what he reads? Could it be construed as sensitivity-mongering?
What kind of person sits around and thinks “I think I’ll go over to the division rival’s site and see if I can find something to get upset about”?

dude its the internet
and its also america. I do what I want. Ever go to a Packers blog? We don’t have 1 let alone THREE fanposts stating how dumb and stupid the Packers are and how worthless Rogers is. Also, ever see a Packer fan come over here and post some dumb garbage like this as the first post after a humiliating defeat?
LOL
cant beat a dismal saints team, packers got their ass handed to them and it was a lovely sight.
The announcers were kissing cheese ass like they are the 07 packers with favre, even considered the saints beating them an upset.
the one suprise i had was the packers actually managed to stop their run, less then 100 yards rushing for the whole saints team….. wish is something short of a miracle for the packers defense
by NativeViking on Nov 25, 2008 5:49 AM PST

First one
Sounded better then the corrected sentence, also wouldnt hurt you if you gave everyone the same rights you so aptly claim. This is a Viking blog not a Packer hold hands blog, what did you expect gushing reviews and well wishing for the Pack.More so as Packer Fans came boasting here of 11-5 record and talking trash about every Team.We have love for the Pack just doesnt show until they lose then our love comes pouring out.We even taken bets that Detroit manhandles the Pack and gets their first win.Come back then and will show you real love for the Pack.

no no no
if favre gets to the big game the packers get a #1 pick from the jets. it would be funny though.
