Open Thread for Discussion of Sunday Afternoon Games
Well, since we have to. . .in the words of Faith Hill. . .wait all day for Sunday night, here's a thread for those of you that feel compelled to stop by and discuss the early football games.
The only game of real consequence to us among the early set is between the Carolina Panthers and the Green Bay Packers up at Lambeau Field. A loss for the Packers would really put them behind the 8-ball, since it would drop them to 5-7 and two games behind whoever wins the big matchup this evening. Not to say that they couldn't get themselves back into it, but it would be very tough for them to do so. The Packers struggle against great rushing attacks, and few rushing attacks are better than Carolina's (well. . .except when they play the Vikings, natch). It's a very losable game for the Packers, particularly coming off of a short week where they got blown out on national television, and here's hoping that they can do just that.
So, if you want to talk about the early games, please do so here. The actual game thread for tonight's clash will go up between 4:00 and 5:00 PM Central time. And don't forget to take advantage of the new SBNation NFL Hub for all of your Sunday football needs!

Frerotte
The guy has thrown a lot of picks and has been sacked a scary amount of times this year.
I know that he was an avid Obama supporter, but maybe he has taken the whole, “Share the wealth” thing too literally. Maybe his problem is that he doesn’t think it’s fair for those that are strong to stay that way, so he feels the need to throw the occasional pick or get sacked, to even the playing field for the weaker teams.
Just a thought.

GB cant stop the run, Rodgers already looks like crap and Williams just ran over Nick Collins who had to be helped off the field, and Carolina just scored

7-3, Panthers
12:49 left until halftime.
Green Bay has done nothing to impress me (or anyone else) thus far today.

Packers getting booed off the field
But Packer fans are the greatest fans in sports. If you don’t believe me, just ask them.

Wait, you mean to say that wonderboy Rodgers is, gasp, not playing better than Favre? I thought he fit their system better.

Shoring up our pass defense? Nope.
Just curious, why didn’t we jump and sign CB DeAngelo Hall when he got released from the Raiders? With Gordon out, it only seemed logical to sign him immediately and swap Griffin into the nickel. And, by the way, LaRon Landry has turned himself into the best safety in the league not named Ed Reed. Gotta love these Sundays.

A) He’s wild. If you remember the Falcons vs Panthers game last season, he just exploaded. You know Childress doesn’t like people like that. There’s also the one major detail, which falls onto
B) He sucks. He did absolutely nothing for the Raiders. Nada. Yes we have a better defense than the Raiders do, but I don’t see him as a huge upgrade from what we have right now. For the Vikes it was either all our current CBs, minus Winfield, get burned or sign DeAngelo to get burned. So they saved themselves some money.

Well, it was nice
Of Carolina’s defense to decide that they were going to turn into a complete joke in the second half. Karen Rodgers has been marching the Pack up and down the field since they came out of the locker room.

Classless
anyone else see the packer fan bat the ball back out of a panthers fans hands so that it went back on to the field after Williams scored his last touchdown… what a complete douche bag

I hope Steve Smith’s 53yd reception to set up the 1yd TD to take a 35 – 31 lead for Carolina ends this game. Steve Smith is an absolute animal!
