Banned Substances

What kind of bush league organization would allow players to play while testing positive for banned substances ie Williams' cheaters.  Test positive....Don't play.  But Vikings aren't a class act so why am I suprised?  What is fair to the teams played while waiting for appeals?  If tests are positive, what is the league waiting for?  What will change 2,3,4 weeks from now/  But minnesota is not a class act and never will be, top to bottom!!!!!!!! Go to hell you cheaters!!!!

Let me take a wild stab here. . .

Bear fan?

Packer fan?

Well, either way, your team went out and peed on themselves today/tonight. Maybe you should worry more about your team than you do about ours.

Don't be hating

If players on your team got in trouble for using a weight loss substance that was listed as having “all natural” ingredients and it turned out the league knew about it and didn’t tell anyone, they would do the exact same thing. Any and all players would appeal it. Don’t be high and mighty when you have no real argument.

Called due process

Regardless of of what Team ya play for ,you have the right to defend yourself.Hence the appeal process, myself I would just shoot you for being on the lower end of the gene pool, but alas the Buck Tooth Packer fan doesnt go into season till Dec 1st.

This guy obviously doesn’t know the circumstances of these cases… An NFL Front Office Official knew about this product having a banned substance in it for 2 years but never said anything about it and never had it added to the “black list.” There was a whole lot of shady biz going on with both the NFL and StarCaps in this case.

How’s the view from inside your rear end?

Agreed...

Unbelievable statements. Shazam23, please stay informed before accusing…try checking the story by Judd Zulgad from the Star Tribune.

Amazing

The guy’s been a member of SBNation since. . .November 30. Oh, and he hasn’t signed up for any other SBNation sites.

I wonder if he might have been here just to troll. Sounds like a pretty safe bet to me!

So in your pee size brain it’s ok to put any performance enhancing substance questionable or not in your body to gain a physical advantage. Should have known some lesser organization would stick behind such players and not take action. Granted, every team in the league is not 100% clean but for testing positive they should sit til the league ok’s otherwise. They tried to gain an edge chemically. That alone is enough to tell you the team feels this behavior is ok. This sends a great message to thousands of young fans trying to play in high school or lower that putting something in your body to make you stronger, faster, and better is ok whatever that may be. This is not a matter of what team you support but a moral choice of right and wrong. By the way I am a Lions fan and could care less who won last night. I am just sick of players cheating and not getting caught. I hope the Vikings get it right and send a message to all of the country especially our youth.

Look, we’re not talking about EPO here. Pat and Kevin stated they were simply trying to keep their weight down….given the whole mess with the NFL and StarCaps you have to assume they are innocent until proven guilty. Besides, how can they be accountable for ingredients not listed on the bottle?

Bumetanide isn't a PED

It never has been. Of course, anyone that’s been paying attention to the case knows this.

Another point. Why did these players use starcaps? Obviously they knew this did something beneficial for them. I personally think they knew by word of mouth or other players this would mask the use of steroids by being a diuretic altering test results. I mean who of the average person even know what starcaps is? I had never heard of it. Why not use other energy drinks. It’s very apparent word had travelled around that this would help them not get caught using steroids. I think if they were using that the providers or other users gave the players a neat way out. Why would they want to drop weight as d-lineman with muscle anyway?

Weight Clauses

From http://www.lacrossetribune.com/articles/2008/10/27/sports/vikings.txt

It makes sense that offensive or defensive linemen — especially ones with weight clauses in their contracts — might have used a diuretic and not known it contained a banned substance.

For instance, Pat Williams was placed on the physically-unable-to-perform list by coach Brad Childress at the start of Vikings training camp in 2006 because he was not at the weight the team wanted him to be when he reported. Williams weighs more than the 317 pounds at which he is currently listed by the Vikings, but he has kept himself in better condition since that time.

Besides, have you seen the size of Pat Williams’ belly?

Came Over from Windy City Gridiron...

I hope I can speak for all of our members, but this shazam feller ain’t speaking for the rest of us as far as his comments go. Whatever our opinion of the Williamses might be, there is a better way of going about expressing ourselves. We tend to represent ourselves in a more respectful manner, but this guy looks like he signed up just to talk shiat on your blog, so take it for what it’s worth I reckon.

P.S. I hope y’all get your arses kicked in the playoffs!

Shazam did say he was a Lions fan (Dec. 1, 4:49 p.m. bottom of post), so he’s probably just angry/depressed at life right now.

by cutlassbob on Dec 2, 2008 1:14 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

All games played by the William brothers are now in QUESTION. To bad the league doesn’t allow forfeits like the college ranks. To much money involved. I am hoping for a great upset by the Lions but I know this is highly unlikely. Hold your head high Lions. You never know. On any given Sunday right!
