The Vikes QB situation

I was wondering what eveyone thinks of the Viking's QB situation.  Gus won't be back next year, T-Jack i'm thinking won't start here again, and JD Booty I think will be a backup for his career.

I was curious, because I'm liking what I'm seeing from some Big 12 QB's.  Colt McCoy and Graham Harrell in particular.  Will the Vikes draft a QB in the first round, or will they say "who needs a young gun when there are all these 38-year olds available?"

Yeah, I wouldn’t turn Gus into the Favre-esque will-he-or-won’t-he scenario. He hasn’t said anything about retiring after this season yet, let’s not bring it up. Jackson might start here, you never know. He was doing alright once we, you know, passed the ball, and he wasn’t throwing 4 picks each game.

I’m hoping that if a highly projected QB falls to the Vikes (ie: Brady Quinn, Aaron Rodgers, etc) where ever their, hopefully, low first round pick is, they’ll snatch them up.

It's going to depend

On what juniors declare for the draft this year. If 2010 is going to be an uncapped year and the rookie salary scale is going to go away, we’re probably going to see a lot of them.

Look for guys like Matthew Stafford (Georgia), Mark Sanchez (USC), Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) and Josh Freeman (Kansas State) to declare, as well as guys like McCoy. I think Harrell is already a senior, isn’t he?

R U Serious?

Tim Tebow will be a huge bust at the Pro Level. He’s a college system, QB Option player. He will not excel at the pro level. He might be average or slightly above average but I wouldnt take him with a first rounder. At the pro level you want a guy like Matt Ryan – drop back pocket passer who can read a defense and put the ball on a dime. We should get Harrell, Bradford, Freeman, McCoy, or Chase Daniels. This upcoming draft is looking to be deep at QB so I think we’ll have an opportunity to get a QB of the future to sit behind Gus for a year.

Tebow haters piss off!

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!
How can anyone dump on a Heisman trophy winner like Tim? I guess the Florida Gators ain’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I think Tim looks like another SEC quarterback who led the Georgia Bulldogs to the national championship. Yes old school Viking fans, I’m talking about the Divine Fran the man! I watched this kid develop from a rushing QB who was only used in third down conversions to a field general as good as the likes of Peyton Manning.I think most of the smack being thrown at Tim is just Gator haters showing their ignorance, and their stupidity. Tim I’m sure will not be the kind of QB to have gun and drug problems that have screwed up so many NFL teams.
Just my opinion, later dudes,

Brian Brohm

There is still an outside chance the Packers release Brohm, seeing as he is their number 3 option at QB. Although I could see them trading him as opposed to letting him go just so he doesn’t end up in the NFC north.

We have

as much chance of getting Brohm as we did Farve.
