QB Controversy
I hate to do this on the eve of our great victory, but... That was was so much closer than it needed to be. Seriously. I know that we are winning with Frerotte behind center, but he's thrown 13 or 14 interceptions this year. IN SEVEN EFFING GAMES. It makes we wonder if maybe, just maybe, Jackson would be the better quarterback. I know Jackson had that last minute interception against the Packers, and that we lost against Indianappolis (even though the whole offense was sucking that day minus AD ). But he hadn't thrown a game with more than 2 picks since playing the Lions last season.
My point is, Gus may be hurting the team more than doing it any good. I know he's gotten some nice throws, but so did Jackson. So what do you guys think? Who's the better QB to lead the team?

Don't forget the butterfly kisses that knock Frerotte down
I also don’t remember Jackson going down with a strong breeze. I have seen several sacks on Frerrotte where Jackson never would have gone down. I think the difference is the confidence….Jackson had to hear all summer and each week how he was the weak link. Frerrotte hasn’t had to deal with that. I think Jackson let that get to him and as a result…lacked the fire in his eyes etc…
With that said, I can’t throw Frerrotte under the bus for this game….he was bad, but I’m not off my sugar high from the purple jesus Koolaid I drank today.
T Jack
I don’t think T Jack would of thrown those bad passes, or go down evreytime he gets touched.

Tyler Thigpen
One also had to wonder what could have been there. I mean, if he can make the Chiefs look semi good with the crap talent there, imagine what he could have been like with a good O.
Then again, he also could have been a product of of the ‘Kick ass offense’ that doesn’t allow a QB to call an audible.

Thank you for Tyler Thigpen!
The Chiefs haven’t been able to pull off a win, but have been in it until the last minute with 3 very competitive teams, and with over half of our defensive starters injured and on our 4th string RB. Here’s his stats for the last three games: 66/102 (65% completions), 710 yds, 6 TD, 0 INT, 0 fumbles, QB rating of 102.9, 68 yds rushing (5.6 ypc), and also a very nice TD reception on a trick play for about 40 yards.
We are all becoming believers over here in KC!
AGREED WITH TONY_O!!!
I was frustrated with Gus to but man he’s our guy right now. T-Jack can’t handle anything under pressure and he never looked for open receivers, he just ran with it. He sucks in the red zone and can’t complete passes. Also, him running the ball resulted in a few injuries to himself. Am i wrong on that? Jackson in that game would’ve met we lost that game.
Let us remember. We WON today. Nothing should drastically change in our offense. At the end of the day i’m still a fan of Gus and whoever else that may have been written off. Gus doesn’t want to throw interceptions it just happens. Maybe next week he’ll come out and have another 298 yrd game. Maybe then, we can stay off of his back and quit looking for the next big thing which isn’t on this roster. Meaning no to T-Jack and JDB needs some more time to learn the craft.
GUS, I GOT YOUR BACK
Frerotte over Thack all day. Frerotte can read a defense, slide in the pocket, throw the deep ball more accurately, has greater poise from the first snap and has the confidence of his teammates with wins. Thack cant read the defense, stands in the pocket like a statue, overthrows his deep recievers nearly every time, isnt poised early and his early season benching means that I doubt he commands the same confidence from the team and certainly not the playcallers. Look at the tecmo bowl offense that they called in the first two games because they didnt think he could handle anything else. Frerotte brings depth to the playcalling options which spreads out the defense which opens running lanes for Purple Jesus which opens up the play-action and so on……
get real dude. Tjack is a bust and gus is our only option right now. Deal with it. Show some faith. Everybody can have a bad day/game.
I wouldn’t mind, but it isn’t just a bad day or game for him. He’s done this several games now. Has he played a game for us without an interception yet? He cost us at least the Chicago game. Yeah, special teams was part of it, but he threw four picks in what turned out to be a one possession game. That didn’t help either.
You do bring up the fact about the open playbook, which is good. But I wonder how Jackson would be doing if they opened the playbook for him too. It’s hard to compare them based on that because Childress was too dimwitted to think about calling more than 5 plays with Jackson. I would rather he’d have taken the risk of calling some different plays for Jackson and having us lose than calling the same 5 over and over and us losing regardless.
The interception in the Texans game was the reciever’s fault not the QB’s. If it hits the reciever on the body then the QB did his job.
That Bears game was retarded for sure but 2 of those INT’s were desperation throws. Not gonna excuse the other two though. Anyway, I feel confident in saying that Tjack would not open the offense as much as Gus can even if Chilly tried. Opening the playbook doesnt do much good if the QB can read the defense or hit his second or third options.
ALSO...
Since i’m full of opinions right now. I would honestly give T-Jack one game til he gets hurt and Gus would be back under center. It’s scary to know that if Gus does go down all we have is T-Jack.
that is pretty scary because there is no reliable guy behind old man river.Take it from me i was a huge tjack when he came in with the purple. i would switch out brad johnson on madden 06 to play with him and have always wanted him to start. But the guy just doesn’t have it in him. at least not this year to much for him to handle. i actually look forward to seeing him compete for the starting job next season.Right now you go with whos winning no matter how your winning.
AP's record day, 296 in a single game.
Yeah...
T-Jack is definitely not the answer. When you bring up the fact that he hasn’t thrown a whole ton of int’s, you have to also realize that we never let him throw. When we needed it against the Pack, that’s when we let him throw the ball and it got picked.
Also, I think there is a good reason for Gus to be taking to the ground easily. I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but QB’s seem to be losing the ball a lot more due to sitting in the pocket and getting the ball knocked out when they don’t feel the sack coming. I for one, am grateful that Gus has the smarts and veteran awareness to know when it is a good time to bring the ball into his body and go down.
I’d like to see him use that veteran awareness and smarts to know when/where NOT to throw the ball too. Three picks in this game. Maybe if we had lost it people’s opinions would be different, but I’m trying not to be swayed by the victory. He’s just killing us with interceptions, and one of these days, like it did against the Bears, its going to bite us in the ass. Again.
When we did let Jackson throw it against Green Bay, he wasn’t so bad. Yeah, he had that overthrown pass to Shiancoe get intercepted, but Gus did the EXACT same thing against Chicago. On our last drive. When we needed a TD to tie the game. His fourth of that game. It was only Jackson’s first.
Man you said a million. Gus is a veteran and he can take a sack. It’s better than a fumble. Any one see the way Farve gets sacked? It’s like he’s under water trying to keep the ball over the surface. It usually looks dangerous. Gus knows he’s going down and has the smarts to protect the ball.
GUS, I GOT YOUR BACK
Frerotte is better BECAUSE...
We are getting TD’s in the end zone now; before, we were getting FG’s.
Gus is getting the ball into the end zone better, and that makes ALL the dif
IN THE REDZONE!
Very well put. Longwell was our best player the first two games.
