Jackson to start against Arizona
Well I am happy this issue has basically been put to rest and Tarvaris will get his second chance.
Jackson expected to start; Frerotte has fracture
December 10th, 2008 – 7:11 PM by Judd Zulgad
Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson is expected to start for the Vikings on Sunday at Arizona, although team officials are believed to be holding out hope that Gus Frerotte will be able to play. According to people with knowledge of the situation, the reality is that Frerotte will miss a week or two because of a fracture in his lower back.
Running back Chester Taylor told WCCO television today that Jackson would be the Vikings’ starting quarterback on Sunday, his first start since Sept. 14 when the Vikings lost to Indianapolis to drop to 0-2 on the season. If Frerotte is sidelined for two weeks that means the earliest he would not return to the starting role would be the regular-season finale against the New York Giants at the Metrodome.
The Vikings could be in position to clinch the NFC North on Sunday, if Chicago losses to New Orleans on Thursday night. The Vikings would then need to beat the Cardinals to capture the division.

T Jack Start
Ya know, I guess I can accept T Jack’s interceptions a lot more than Gus’s 58 years of inexperience. We need to bide our time untill we trade for McNabb. It’s either him or Garcia. Were not drafting a QB in the first round for 3 years so this is the sure course.
I’m cheering for T Jack but he is still not our guy for the future.
T Jack's interceptions?
Gus Frerotte is the worst quarterback on a playoff contending team. Literally, figuratively, statistically, etc. Frerotte on the sidelines is the best thing that could happen to the Vikes!
I still don't know...
You put the fate of a playoff team in the hands of someone who had the job, lost it, and his replacement won seven games (giving last week to Tarvaris).
I hope you all are right and Tarvaris comes though. Personally, I just got a lot more nervous for this game.

I don’t think Frerotte would have won the first two games to be honest with you. I really don’t. Look at how he played against the Packers when the defense was dominating them. I don’t even want to imagine how lopsided that close game would have been with Frerotte under center, and I really don’t think he’d have done well against Dwight Freeney either. He’d be a sacklunch.
Hard to say...
It’s hard to say. All we have to go off of is what happened. Tarvaris went 0-2, Frerotte went 7-3, Tarvaris finished up with a win last week.
We’ll never know what would have happened. I can’t speculate that the Vikings may have gotten one touchdown against Indianapolis and won the game. I also can’t say for sure whether or not the Green Bay game was winnable. However, your statement about Freeney is definitely warranted. Though I’m not sure how he’s doing this year. Hasn’t been making too much noise, has he? Not that it matters; just curious.
As I’ve said before, I will GLADLY put my foot in my mouth if Tarvaris comes out and tosses the rock with a vengeance. I just am very, VERY unsure about it.

Whaaaaaaaaaatt?
Guz has flat out sucked for us this year.
He can not get the ball to a receiver in stride……watch the tape on well over half of his passes the receiver has to either dive and or slide to get the ball
I am #$%$ thrilled about this

I love when we’re talking about the coach, it’s all… “This coach has won eight games!! Why would we fire him?” Like the coach is solely responsible for the wins.
But then the conversation turns to QB’s and the wins and losses are completely dependent on them. “Gus wins more games, he is obviously superior!”
Perhaps the reason TJ was 0-2 at the beginning of the season was because our coaching staff was TERRIBLE in those games!! I mean, plain out, 100% pathetic!
I’m not throwing my support to T-Jax via this argument… just saying that, like the argument that Gus would have started out 0-2 as well… who is to say that T-Jax wouldn’t have won 8 of his next 11? Regardless, neither of these guys are our answer at QB, and let’s just hope that one of them can efficiently lead us on a playoff run!

Corner blitz
T-Jack better beware of a blind side hit from #24 Adrian Wilson of the Cards…..any question why, just ask Trent Edwards of the Bills. AW drilled Edwards on the 3rd play of the game and down went Edwards with a concussion and down went the rest of the Bill’s season. I hope the play calling is smart and keeps TJ from having to make long throws and taking a knockout hit.
