Frerotte out; Jackson in.
Gus Frerotte being out may make some people jump up and down with joy because now T-Jack is back in the starting role as QB. Let me tell you what. He better get us somewhere or a lot of people will be calling for his head by the Giants game.
Now is his time to shine and he better make something of it. Hopefully he is better in the pocket and hopefully his Coach has more confidence in him. Is it me, or does Chilly show no confidence in this kid? To me, that's a bad thing. Open the playbook and let him prove himself.
I'm just wondering what AP is saying right now? Probably something like "I'll rush for over 130+ yrds. a game resulting only in field goals". Jackson should, as the QB take some of the load too.
I'm only glad Jackson took this position while Gus is down. I don't think he would've gotten the nod with a healthy Gus in there anyway. If Jackson does his job on sunday i'll shut up but until then, he hasn't shown much of anything. Many of you won't like it but look at our record. With an old man behind center we've managed to be dominate in our division. Something we've lacked in the past few years.
I'm only wishing the best and speedy recovery to Gus. Although it's far past his time I feel he came in and did his job the best to his abilities. Sure, he threw INT's but who doesn't? Bottom line is, when you have it good don't ask for something else. Meaning, he's not great but he did fit in and got us the wins. He'll go down as a winning QB for MINNESOTA. Also, his and Berrians 99 yrd catch is now my new favorite Viking memory. Thanks for that anyway.
I'm wishing our new QB the best of luck. I'm guessing he might need it but i'll cheer for him all the way. He's wearing purple and he's a brother.
You wanted him now we've got him! Playoffs....here we come?
GO JACKSON GO!!!!

You've Probably Enjoyed...
Watching G. Frerotte these past weeks. FG after FG, you’ve probably just loved it.
Frerotte’s accuracy at hitting defenders square in the numbers (who doesn’t?) more than every other quarterback in the league! Sacked more often than every other playoff bound quarterback (per snap). He sucks. But that’s okay, Childress was hell bent on keeping Brad Johnson in the line-up.
Both his and your lack of faith is unfounded. T-Jack is 8-8 as a starter in this league and only in his third year. Given an honest opportunity, he can succeed on this roster.
Actually...
This post was to put my end of the arguing, to an end. I was just saying T-Jack still needs something to prove to me. Am I wrong? What great thing has he done for this team? Please enlighten me, since you know everything.
Basically i’m saying that I WILL cheer for T-Jack and I hope he suceeds. Vikings need a big win this week. After this weekend I hope he shuts all of us up. I just don’t know yet. I’m still weary about him starting, but hey, he’s our man and I will be behind him 100%.
The problem with your arguement is that it seems like you’re saying the 8 wins are because Frerotte is under center, as though they wouldn’t be wins with Jackson. Honestly, that might be true in some cases. Jackson might not have hit Berrian on that 99-yard play. I doubt it, but its possible. Jackson also might not have thrown 4 interceptions in the first Bears’ game. Or three against the Packers in the rematch. But we’ll never know. I think everyone can agree with you that we should be behind him 100% right now though and rooting for him to do well in these next 3 games.
I wouldn't have it any other way
He’s our man, I’m not aganst him or anything. My whole point about Frerotte is, everyone is on his back and no matter what his past is I think he played a good season for us. He’s Gus, he’s past his prime and nobody expected us to be anywhere near this good. Once T-Jack was benched everyone wrote us off. It would’ve been a great story for the Vikings.
Besides the Shank drop against Indy I didn’t see any TD because of the fact that Jackson was behind center. It’s like he wasn’t there. He never really impressed me is all i’m saying. And it’s too late in the season to POSSIBLY gamble our chances away. But, that argument is done obviously, now because Gus is hurt.

Something to prove
yes, because if he stinks up the offense you won’t be seeing him around next year. For the eighth time!!!! I never once said Gus was the sole reason behind our record. I never once said Gus was the greatest QB and I never once said he should be a Viking for the long term. I simply said the obvious, that he came in, did what was expected of a guy like him. We are 8 and 5 not because of either T-jack or Gus, but because Gus has more chemistry with our offense.
it could not possibly be because
our receivers remembered what they are paid for and the childress was just a “tad” less conservative
yep it was all chemistry that would have never ever developed with #7 had he not got the hook after game #2
you are right…I apologize

T-Joke?
BOTH Gus and T-Joke are terrible! We are in first place in our division in spite of the poor QB play that we’ve received all year long. The fact is, we’ve won games because we can dominate our opponents on the line of scrimmage. Our W’s do not have anything to do with the two assholes that we have at QB… I’m hoping for a quick recovery from Gus Frerotte, because the team has better chemistry with him under center. T-Joke simply cannot play in this league. People that point to his 8-8 record as a starter should take a look at his numbers in those wins. I think he had 9 TD’s and 12 INT’s last year – that’s right, 9 TDs in 12 starts! And what did he do after an offseason of “great workouts”? He stank it up in weeks 1 and 2 and looked completely lost… yes, he looked great against DETROIT last week – big deal, Detroit sucks! The guy blows. He’s terrible and will always be terrible. Obviously I will be cheering and rooting for my Vikes because I will live and die with them forever, but boy do I hate having to watch T-Joke play football. He is so overwhelmed out there. I’m sick and tired of hearing idiots say that he needs to be given an honest chance, and that he’s ONLY in his 3rd year – 3rd year!!!! Are you kidding me? This guy is in his 3rd friggin year and people are acting like he’s rookie and he should get a pass because he’s young. Give me a break…T-Joke sucks ass.

Tell us what you REALLY think...
The fickleness of the mass of Viking fandom just blows my mind when it comes to the QB question. I don’t think there’s ANY group of fans, ANYWHERE, for ANY sport, that hangs as tough as Vikings fans for their team, through more years of pain than anyone but a masochist would want to chronicle. Pro TJ, anti-TJ, doesn’t really matter. He’s what we’ve got, and he’s going to be slinging that pigskin up and down the field come Sunday.
Personally, I don’t think he was ready to be a full-time starter at the beginning of the season. He had the arm, but then, he’s always had the arm. The biggest problems were his judgement and his attitude, both of which have had a chance to mature and grow since Week 2. He’s had most of the season to watch Gus work the field, and accuracy aside, Gus has been a real leader for the Vikes. TJ’s had time to study that, to watch how Gus handles change-ups in the D, how Gus reads the coverage, how Gus down-checks the receivers, how Gus disguises his intended target til the last fraction of a second, how Gus knows when to eat the sack.
TJ is far from stupid, and what I saw in the Detroit game gives me hope that he’s been watching and learning from Gus. I still think that the Vikes should look at taking the best QB option they can in the next draft because even if TJ is the next purple franchise QB, we still need someone solid coming up behind him.
The scary question will be, what will be done if TJ takes us to the playoffs, and Gus is healthy? Who’s going to be #1 through the most critical games of the season? I’m thinking, if TJ is hot and stays hot, the Vikes should stay with him into the playoffs, but still use Gus to throw the opposing D’s off stride. I know, a 2-QB swap-out has rarely been the way to go, but it might be our best chance to go all the way.
GO TJ, GO VIKINGS!
If T-Jack...
wins three or two of the next three, then, by all means, he has won his opportunity to stay on the field. Or that would be what a real coach would do anyway.
