For anyone I've debated against regarding Tarvaris...
*stands tall, grabs foot, places directly in mouth*
At least for this week, Tarvaris has made me a believer. This looked like the kid who we saw flashes of in the middle of last season. And really, you can't argue with four touchdowns.
For what it's worth, I'm ready to let him lead this team. Or at the very least, co-lead it with Adrian Peterson. Pretty easy to toss the rock when the ground game is going so well.
So again, for anyone I debated with, you were certainly right. At least for this week, I'm ready to let him give it a go.

Last year he made mistakes, and it was preached that we need a game manager. This year he came out and Chilie criticized him for not being aggressive enough. It seems that Tavaris learned something each time. I am not building the guy statue but you have to give it to him, he has shown signs of improvement over the course of his development. He has a great arm, he is reading the defenses better, and he is decisive.
Go Tavaris GO!!!

I wish T-Jack would read these comments...
His game yesterday is a huge boost in his career but reading these comments would probably make him the happiest viking in minnesota. To know that we’re behind him and all we want him to do is what he can do… win baby! GO T-Jack!

kind of a left handed compliment if you ask me…….. how many different ways can you qualify your “support” of him
he has still only played in 14 games…..chances are he will get better not worse….jmo

Obviously, I'm a little tentative...
I realize that I definitely qualified a lot of it, but I also said that everyone else was right. Tarvaris Jackson should be the starter in Minnesota. That better?

yes that is better he should be strarting
personally I find the injury a little suspiscious….i don’t see anyone hitting guster to me it looked like a pretty typical fall……i have to wonder if they are not just allowing guster to play the hurt card so that he/we don’t have to deal with the benching card

A little ketchup helps
That is what I used to help the taste of shoe leather. I will wait until the end of the season to pass final judgement; however, if his last game and a half are any indication T-Jack might be the player the coaches thought he was.
I know it is only Monday, but I can’t wait until Sunday afternoon when I will actually get a chance to see the Vikes.

Re: “Pretty easy to toss the rock when the ground game is going so well.”
I’ve been one of the consistent TJ backers all season and have desperately wanted to see him finish the season for us. That said, I’ve always understood and respected the reservations others have had. Regarding the above quote, however, I have to argue that he made several incredibly precise throws that were by no means easy. His unbelievably gorgeous first throw for a touchdown hit BB perfectly in stride. A deep ball he’d been criticized many times for not being able to throw. His second touchdown to SR was crisp and perfectly thrown to his outside shoulder, the only place a well covering corner could not defend. His fourth touchdown pass was thrown, again, at precisely the right moment, leading BW at exactly the moment he split the defenders.
No matter how good the running game is, they weren’t running the ball downfield to any of those guys. And there’s no way “flatline” Gus could have pulled all that off, simply no way.
Completely Agree
I completely agree with the above statement. You are absolutely correct. Guys, I’m backing Tarvaris. I’m not taking shots on him. He should be our starter.
I was merely pointing out that having a good ground game helps any quarterback, not just Tarvaris. The Cardinals were stacking the box with eight, nine, I swear I even saw 10 defenders in the box at points. He was making amazing throws to take advantage.

Good to see you come around. I highly doubt that ANYONE thought Jackson would come out and throw 4 TDs and no ints on sunday though. I thought he should be QB ahead of Gus, and I was hoping for a 2 TD to 1 int game and a win. I was surprised with how crisp and accurate the throws he made were. Even if Gus doesn’t finish the season as a starter, we should leave him on the team to help coach Jackson, because it’s clearly helped the kid.
Folks, he has a LOT to prove yet no doubt,
but c’mon the kid was a 2nd rnd draft pick for a reason!
You justy don’t trade up for small school college QB’s for schits and gigles.
The kid has serious SKILLS, he just needs to learn how to use and apply them in the NFL.
Looks like he might be doing just that.

If he can play half as good...
If he can play even half as good as he did against the Cardinals, the Vikings have a shot to win a few playoff games. All he has to do is keep the defense honest and take a few shots to Berrian down field.
I’m all for a pass first, Peterson love fest, but I don’t see that in the cards…
YET.

I wonder...
IF the pre-season injury still hampered TJ in the 1st 2 games of the season.
I was at the Baltimore pre-season game where TJ got injured. Prior to the injury, he looked very good, both passing and with his run ability. My bro-in-law (a Ravens/Redskin fan) was duly impressed as well.
Regards,
I don't suffer from insanity...I relish every moment of it!
Of course it did. He missed a lot of time heading into the season.
A guy as young and raw as he is, needs every reb possibly and missing any time is detrimental.
Again, the kid has serious skills. Can he utilize them in the NFL game remains to be seen.
