Williams wall officially suspended for final 4 games
Well, it is official. The Williams wall is out for the final 4 games and it is unlikely that the decision will be reversed.

I really think they are unfortunate victims of a strict policy. I do not feel they intentionally ingested a banned substance. Everything seems to point in that direction and StarCaps should be liable for the lost wages.
However, and I say this as a die hard Vikings fan, I do not believe the rule should necessarily be changed. The NFL and Players Association need to do a better job with their banned substances list because this incident obviously hurts the league in general. But if they make exceptions for accidental ingestion, then it opens the door to individuals that are really trying to mask steroids to get away with it.
If in this case NFL executives knew of the banned substance and did not add StarCaps to the list of banned suplements, then the suspension is totally bogus in my mind and officials, not players, should be taking the heat. But that was an accusation that we don't know for sure is true.
I don't think this matters for the Lions game as the Vikes should still win it. With Arizona's putrid rush attack perhaps it only comes into play for goal line stands. But this hurts big time for the Atlanta and Giants games since both teams feature stellar power run games. And of course Kevin is an exceptional pass rusher as well so that hurts in each game.
I just see this as really bad luck for the Vikings that probably reduces our playoff chances by about 50%. What else is new though?
So that's my $0.02 worth, any other thoughts?

I think the fact that this was leaked to the public made the league more obligated to act.
So far as the violation itself… what a joke, the company should be sued by all these players since the ingredient wasn’t on the label and its not even a performance enhancing drug.
Two wins in their absence gets us in most likely . . . circle the wagons!

Porgy and Bess
As the character Sportin’ Life sings in the Gershwin opera, it ain’t necessarily so. The players can take their case to a higher court. An injunction against the NFL to restrict them from proceding with the suspensions may be obtained on the grounds that there is a strong legal case against the NFL’s ruling and that a clear and present danger exists that the players are likely to suffer irrepairable damages if the actions were taken prior to the completion of a trial. Certainly, not going to a playoff game and being denied the income, prestige, and the chance at a Super Bowl, which cannot be restored retroactively by any court, is a plausible outcome of the present circumstances. There appears to be opposing views on whether the NFL made clear that StarCaps were banned. There is a question of whether the players can be punished for actions which may have been beyond their reasonable power to control, the league’s stated policy not withstanding. Whether the players are ultimately vindicated or not, the suspensions might at least be postponed. If I were a Viking, I’d be donating to the Pat and Kevin legal fund so I’d improve my shot at the playoffs. In fact, if such a fund were organized, I might donate myself anyway. Frankly, I don’t think a league where the officials are allowed to be imperfect but the players are expected to be dietary savants conforms with my idea of fairness. Come back with that there woman, Sportin’ Life! I think there’s gonna be a fight in the next scene.

What a bummer, but not a big surprise. I was hoping they would meet halfway (maybe a 2 game suspension) but the league is playing this one by the book. They can’t rule on intent, so they have to follow the laws they set down. There is definatly some grey area with what is known or unknown about the pills and what they contain and what someone taking them is really trying to accomplish. But ultimatly it comes down to the players themselves. These guys HAVE to know the risk of putting any damn thing into their bodies. Their bodies are their businesses, their product, their worth. They make millions, so would you jepordize your careers’ future on taking ANY medication without first consulting a doctor(s) and making sure it’s safe and clear of any NFL policies???
They are both vital parts to the team, I hope somehow we get them back for the post season….if we make it.

Thank God there is a Vikings fan who understands putting things in your body that are unkown performance masking drugs without checking them out for certain. Thank God the league understands this as well. I would like to believe the Williams brothers but user beware!!

Remember Last Year...
…when A. P. went down with his knee injury in Green Bay? Everyone was writing the Vikes off back then too. Well, the Purple went on a win streak that brought them to the door of the playoffs before faltering at the end. Don’t sell this team short. In the next few weeks we’re going to find out what they’re made of. We still have all our players on offense and have scored 30 or more points in our last two games. Like I said in an earlier post, all these predictions of gloom and doom should be posted all over the locker room. If that doesn’t get a team fired up, nothing will.

This isn’t Peterson. Chester is a very servicable back up RB who has shown he can be a good starting option.
To be honest, I doubt the replacement DTs coming in will play up to the Williams’ level, or even near it. I think we’ll be okay though. If anything, it means teams will be more willing to run, and if that’s the case our secondary are solid tacklers. We lose a little with the pass rush now, but Robinson will likely fill in on passing downs so I think we’ll do okay.

A Matter of Pride...
No team likes to have anybody tell them they’re nothing if they lose this player or that player. They’re professionals. They have an intense pride in what they do. I have no doubt that this team will step up.

NFL
If its true they Knew Starcaps contained the banned substance then they are just as guilty as the players for taking it.But by the same token its not like we are talking about 2 players on rookie pay. Both could afford to go to a Doctor and say is this stuff any good for my health.Like wise headquaters could have also shelled out the cash to have lab work done on what players take.I understand the need for strict rules, but there should be good guide lines also. They have Rookie 3 day event every year, have a Veteran 1 day event cost at 10 grand each.Should be more then enough cover lab work on everything they take.

Justice Fails Again
We just told all our kids it’s OK to put anything in our bodies and get an edge. The Willams cheaters are safe for now and who knows how long even though 4 other players in the league knowingly violated the same rule will sit out. Note: A Minnesota judge made this ruling. How conveiniant.

They probably filed it IN a Minnesota court. Which would be convenient because, hey, they reside and work in Minnesota. If you get a ticket in whatever state you’re in, do you go to another state to get an appeal? I didn’t think so.
And look at the Williamses for pete’s sake. They wouldn’t strike anyone as being roided up. It doesn’t make sense for them to just randomly take and mask steroids now. But of course you don’t understand this and are probably a fan from a divisional rival. .. or simply a cynic.
