Jackson's best (high stakes) game!?
1st half he was 9/10 or something like that, and had no picks yet a few over throws, simply amazing! He was also able to run for serious yards (but he needs to learn how to slide)! Considering the pressure and the fact that the Vikings had to stop running the ball and start passing for a comeback win the entire 2nd half, this was a great performance for Jackson! He wasn't perfect, but clearly had the Vikings not had 7 turnovers Jackson played more than better to win the game! Shiancoe is a beast! He showed he's the hottest tight end right now in the NFC, hopefully he can carry those hands into the playoffs! 7 turnovers! The Vikes shouldn't have been in this Game At ALL, but they were marching for the comeback win, before the Refs. went blind and didn't see Sidney Rice getting mauled (Ref.s better get fined for that!)! The Vikes can still make the Playoffs and Jackson can lead them, we're sittin' pretty, don't lose hope! Vikes dominate if they don't turn the ball over! Vikings offense was present the entire game, Falcons offense didn't exist in the 2nd half! Falcon's defense wasn't that good, especially with all the talk about Abraham, Cris Carter was saying how he'd kill Jackson! No sacks on Jackson I believe, Frerotte in there would have been sacked 4+ times, this was a great pressure game for Jackson to perform well in, I'm impressed that he outplayed Matt Ryan the Rookie Sensation!
PS: The commentators were horrible! Only good comment was by Ryan after the game, he talked about how they beat a good team today (Vikings wraped them this gift of a game in the 1st and beginning of the 2nd half), Ryan said he would'nt be surprised to see the Vikings in a few weeks! Clearly he know the Falcons got lucky, because the Vikes Offense ran all over the Falcons all day, Falcons didn't stop them the Vikings stopped themselves with the Turnovers! Vikings deserve to go to the playoffs, next week they'll get there chance to prove it!

look like a rookie
Wow TJack look like a rookie today. He carrying the ball way too low. He is unsure of the play that had been call. He just lok immature. He did some good thing but still can not handel the pressure. Take care of the ball TJack
I dunno what game you were watching, but Jackson didn’t look like a rookie to me. He looked like a veteran QB out there. He can’t handle pressure? Really? Because he wasn’t the liability this game. His play actually helped us nearly come back from 4 turn overs.
I agree with Vikefansd
Watching the game today I saw a QB who was too reliant on his tight end. While I concede that Jackson threw strong precise throws in the first half, he seemed to reverted back to his old self in the second half. It seemed to me that he was doing a lot of soft tosses (instead of crisp passes), throwing off his back foot or while jumping during the second half. I also saw Jackson mis-throw some deep throws (the one to Allison that got called for interference and the one at the end).
I think that maybe the lack of the deep ball was in part due to the offensive play calling (lack of rhythm), but still. I saw Jackson revert into his old self when the game pressure was on.

berrian was hurt, who else has deemed themselves a reliable receiver?

?
I’m not sure I follow. I’m not faulting the decision to throw to Allison, nor the outcome, but I am saying it could have been thrown better.

that was my answer to that, that’s all.. when berrian got shaken up that is about the same time that jackson ‘reverted to his old self’ that’s all i’m saying..

makes sense
I’ll give you that. However, I still think his mechanics were off.

no
It is not off. He have bad mechanics. That is final. At this stage and in tight game your mechanic has to be spot on. The pass to Berrian he did not sep into the throw. When you don’t step in to your throw you lack accuratcy and consitancy
Not at all
I still think he’s our best shot, I was opposed to benching him in favor of Ferotte, and, I think he has a lot of upside. He is still servicable and can let us win games, and we would have won with his quarterbacking today had there not been the glut of turnovers.
All I’m saying is that some of what I saw today bothered me.

Shiancoe
If I had a tight end catching everything and playing out of his mind, you bet your ass I’d rely on him. Shiancoe had a career game.
TJ drove the team down a long field to bring them within one TD, then brought them within striking distance again, only to get stuffed by a missed PI call, and all with a host of Falcons in his face. He showed he can be capable of being an NFL quarterback if he can keep doing this game in, game out.
Tight End?
You think that’s a bad thing. Shiancoe had two touchdowns you freaking idiot. You are acting like they would have been worth more than 6 points if it came from somebody else.
Gonzo2
Yeah dude your wrong on that
Jackson was our offense today. I don’t think you were watching the same game. Or maybe you mistaked Jackson for Peterson.
nooo
peterson’s the one you’re supposed to like! he doesn’t make mistakes, they are someone else’s fault.

Jackson played well
End of discussion. You are grasping at straws or trying to find a scapegoat if you think otherwise. Our ’’savior" AD had his worst game as a professional in his young career. Unfortunately that came in a “win and in” scenario. God i hate being a Vikes fan sometimes.

Agreed - kinda
While I’m somewhat critical of Jackson’s play, I do not think he is the scapegoat. I blame turnovers, play calling, and clock management. I am (though I can’t speak for vikesfand) recognizing that what I saw in Jackson’s second half performance today didn’t fill me with great hope.
In the first half, I was stoked! He looked fantastic. But it seems to me that in the second half he seemed to revert (though not fully) back to his former self. It is those characteristics that I find disturbing, though not avoidable. I am, however, worried about his ability to lead the team to a drive when the game is on the line.

All teams are easy...
To defend when they are one dimensional. T-Jack, just like any other quarterback with 10-20 starts in his career shouldn’t be relied on to carry a team with his arm. Not in this league. He played admirably all things considered. The Birds sat back in Cover 2 – Safety’s over the top the entire second half, still Norsemen are out here ripping him for finding his TE (the open guy)! You don’t win games with 4 TO’s.
True but
You are missing the point of the argument. The point is that his mechanics seemed to change when the pressure was on, and I’m not speaking about defensive line pressure. He stopped throwing sharp passes, he started throwing off his back foot (which may at times have been due to pressure), and he started throwing his infamous jump passes.
You’re right, maybe he kept finding the TE because of defensive schemes or maybe it is because of poor play calling. I’ll concede that it could have been due to a number of factors, but I still think it’s necessary to call attention to WR stats that are: 7 catches for 56 yards.
Is he checking down that much? Did the play calling tighten up? Was the coverage that good?

I think the coverage was pretty good, or it could just be that the Falcons left Shiancoe open an insane number of times and allowed him to get chunks of good yardage.
It's called Cover 2
The Falcons safeties sat over the top unless they were in on the blitz (rare in the second half). That leaves the middle open. So you can’t criticize the guy for hitting the open receiver!
I am upset too, but some Norsemen have gone over the edge with their critiques. Thanks for the sanity!
The commenters had the same criticism!
The Vikings don’t get good coverage by the booth crews. Jackson may be due some criticism, but he hasn’t established himself in this league yet. There is nothing to revert to – he’s still quite raw. He was accurate and consistent. He played from behind the entire game and still moved the ball with his arm.
True, he couldn’t do it by himself whey other key players bailed, but he shouldn’t and isn’t expected to (other than by you).
That's the concern
Every QB changes their mechanics when they have pressure is on, a blitz happens etc etc…the concern is if he cannot make a throw without good mechanics, there is a problem. The QB’s that make a difference will make the throw period, good mechanics or not.
Bottomline, his mechanics are being off is ridiculous as a reason for failure. Hell, have some 270 freak of nature running about a 4.7 at you with the sole purpose to destroy you. Your mechanics are not going to be the same as they are running a 7 on 7. And so what, did he make the play, f’d up mechanics or not.
What is noticible (to me) is T-Jacks mind starts to race, everything he does speeds up a little too fast under pressure of the moment. He just needs to work on calming down, but with all of this said, Jackson really didn’t do that bad.

Thoughtful Critique
I know only one way a quarterback learns poise and pace, its called playing. T-Jack might have handled the tempo better had he had more game snaps this year.
I also think quarterbacks who scramble tend to get fast with other things, making experience all the more valuable.
Fumbleitis
Killed us. T-Jack played a great game. even the second half was good (just seems bad because his numbers where not as good as the first). the recievers seemed to loose interest in the game in the second half. BB guns injurey seemed to allow the ATL D-Line cheat on coverage because they were applying mammoth preasure in the second half. turnovers (from fumbles, not ints) and Chilli reverting to his insipid, I don’t need to convert third downs offense cost us this game.
Why are we still passing the ball to Tahi 2 yards behind the line of scrimage on 3rd downs? why are we always passing underneath the down marker on 3rd and long????
Will the Real Thor Please Stand Up ... ?
Childress must be setting up a HUGE play for TAHI later in the season! A five yard curl or something – the defense would never see that coming!
You're Right
about receivers not going past the sticks on 3rd down. I’ve seen it too many times this year. The pass catchers need to learn that they need to get past the marker. That way, even if they get tackled immediately after the catch, they’ll at least have the 1st down. All great teams do that and reap the benefits. That’s not the reason we lost today though. Turning the ball over killed us.
Mechanics are for Cars
This mechanics thing is crap….if it is not instinctive by now, well…
