MVP to risk with the ball???
I'm pretty sure Peterson has the most fumbles by a non QB for the year. He killed us today with the fumbles. Freaking hold the ball to your body. I don't want to bash the chosen one, actually yes I do....I don't give a F how bad ass you are...Football 101, hold on to the damn ball. Maybe he should go chat with Shank about how he fixed it (stud performance by shank if anyone did not notice)
I think I feel better now...
Play calling at the end of the game was way too simple. Jackson sure seemed to be throwing well, making good decisions, so why handcuff him at the end. If you can't trust him or he can't handle the whole play book (I happen to think he can), then get him out of there. On the other hand, we could just get a coach who will trust his players to handle the playbook.

The question about Peterson is whether the rewards are greater than the risks. Yes, he’s put the rock on the ground entirely too much this season. But when he holds on, you have to admit that he’s pretty damn good. He’s definitely out of MVP consideration after this game, but he’s not as bad as this game would indicate.
Dark Thoughts
I was thinking about this on the drive home after the game. If we didn’t have a good running back behind AP I would say benching him is out of the question, but we have Chester and he’s no slouch.
What do you do when your best weapon starts to look like a liability and the next game is a must win?
I don’t think there’s much you can do. Just press AP in practice this week to hold on to the ball and if you see the elbow of the arm carrying the ball stray off his body more than once this week Chester gets the start and AP gets limited carries. But that said, I’m glad it’s not my decision.
Fire Childress!
I dunno. I think this was just a bad game by Peterson. A really, really, really bad game. I doubt he’ll hurt us in the next game.
Bad Games
These sort of days happen to everyone every once in awhile. It’s pretty hard to not have days like today, so it’d be insane to not go with your best running back (and the league’s best running back) in a crucial (maybe) end of the year game.
Not one Game
I agree it’s nearly impossible to bench our biggest play maker, but you can’t say it’s just one game. Take a look here. Peterson is developing a nasty fumbling habit. He’s been fortunate the previous games that he and others wearing purple have been able to recover many of them, but that luck is running out.
I hope they work it out in practice and he’s ready to go next Sunday. But if there’s even a hint that he’s not keeping his ball carrying arm tucked and the ball protected then I don’t know if he should be getting the most carries. It doesn’t matter if he rushes for 300 yards if he coughs it up when we get in the red zone we lose.
Fire Childress!
Peterson...
will have a bad game but who are we going to go to when we need. Probably Peterson.
Our offense is way to simple and handing the ball to Peterson all day is just stupid. Run…Run….Pass….run…and more run. All the time, every week. Childress’ playbook is very thin and has no depth.
Peterson is a fault today but i’m not saying bench him because of this. As frost said earlier when he’s got control he’s a monster.
Let’s not start this bench Peterson stuff.
Reward for the ball
I don’t know about benching him, but he should be carrying a ball everywhere he goes this week and a hefty award for anyone who can get it from him. That worked in the movies at least!!
Quit talking about benching!
Vikings fans are irrational and merciless!! The running back’s coach, Childress, and most importantly Peterson’s Father will talk with Adrian and Adrian is no slouch he certainly feels responsible for this team’s loss, that just means he’s going to work harder! You guys need to stop panicking and let Peterson and his coaches whether parental or football sort this out! He’s a young guy and it’s best he sort this out now!!!
Give him "The Program" treatment...
Have him hold the damn football all day, every day, and if someone gets it away from him, bench him for a series. If it happens twice? Two series.
Or something.
Or just get him ripped on ’roids like Lattimer and have him start on the D-Line in place of Pat.
Either one works.
