Williams Wall Filing Lawsuit Today
Pat and Kevin Williams will be filing a lawsuit today to appeal what their attorney calls "the arbitrary and inequitable administration of the (substance abuse) program." The attorney also points out that the program is "not designed to protect the integrity of the game. It's designed to placate politicians and protect the image of the league."
Which, after yesterday's rulings, is obviously true.
Stay tuned, folks. I won't be able to address this further until this evening. Discuss amongst yourselves until then.

So what happens if they are granted the injunction, play against Detroit and Maybe Arizona, but then the suspensino is upheld again, and they miss the playoffs.
Not worth it in my book. Let’s just take this bogus penalty now, and hope the rest of the team can step up and carry us into the playoffs when the Williams Wall would return.

Completely Agree
As much as I hate to see our boys get suspended for this, I agree that we should just take the hit now and know that we will get them back WHEN WE GET IN THE PLAYOFFS. As PA would say, my great football mind had us going 3-1 in the final four games. I am now much more pessimistic as a result of the suspension when I look at Atlanta. Turner is good. We win in AZ (C’mon secondary!) and we take down the kitties, and I think we have to feel extremely fortunate if we get that third win in the last two games.
As usual, we may have to get a little help. Thank God the Bears looked disgusting on Sunday (Cue Rex Chant!) and I’m not even going to get started on how much I’m certain that this is the beginning of the end for GB!
Another thing to remember, although they are surely a better team than last year when we played them, the G-men may give us one at the end. Sharper better get his S#$T together and start making some more pics like he had against ELI.
Oh yeah.. Thanks Tillman!

I Disagree
If you are Phat Pat or Kevin, I would not accept this for the sake of getting the suspension “done with” before the playoffs. It would be an admission of guilt that would be with you for your ENTIRE life, not just your career. In addition, I believe they would have to forfeit 4 games pay. And thats not chump change.
If they did not knowingly do anything wrong and contacted the NFL drug office as is alleged, they should fight this. As much as we want them in the playoffs, an innocent man does NOT take being wrongly accused lightly.
I say fight the “revenue enhancemet” policies of Goodell and the NFL.
There! That’s my two cents worth.

I agree with you Odin that at a personal level, they should fight this. Especially since they are both going to forfeit a lot of cash because of this… I know Pat’s number of wages lost will be over $900,000. At a a personal level I want these guys to fight fight fight and win win win. At the team level, I would wish that they would get the suspension done in the regular season. It’s tough, especially for the players, because I’m sure Pat and Kevin both want what is best for the team, but at the same time they do not want to go down to something they feel is unjust without a fight. It’s a very tough spot to be in.
Here’s to hoping the legal fight goes well for all of these players. This situation is so asanine, and the NFL is obviously taking advantage of these guys.

Skol Vikings, honor your name!
Never let the league imply you are more dishonorable and deserve more punishment than someone who was caught with cocaine. Teach the NFL that if it thinks they’re taking the easy way out of this, they’re sadly mistaken! Go Kev! Go Pat! Go lawyers! To the barricades! Liberty, Equality, Fraternity! Off with their heads! Let THEM eat some rotten cake! Stuff it up their body and make them responsibile for whatever goes into it!!!

Bend Over Small Market Teams!
Regardless of what the Williams Wall or the New Orleans players involved were taking Starcaps for, (i understand Starcaps is a very poorly rated “diet pill”), i am of the opinion that the greed mongers that run the NFL got together and decided to make an example of them.
This is a perfect scenario for Roger Badell to suspend players for violating the NFL’s new “get tough on steroids” policy. Hell! he can even say “some of these guys are stars!” The truth is is that this action makes him look good to the political jocksniffers that shouldn’t even be involved!
If this same weak ass “violation” were involving any big market teams, or any marquee players on those big market teams this definitely wouldn’t be the action taken. Also, if the guy that is honored by the GU on every players jersey was still around this would not be happening either….
So…..bend over fellow Vikings…….at least we are used to it!…… ;-)
p.s…. I hope they fight it

Skol!dTimer is right
You look at other incidents in the NFL this year where Goodell was called on to make a decision. Look at Pacman Jones. This guy has a laundry list of infractions and off field incidents (the majority of which are felony counts). Goodell states that he wants to make an example of him, suspends him, and reinstates him 4 games prior to the playoffs. If he was still playing for Tennessee would he be reinstated. I doubt it. But he plays for Dallas. Enough said.
Look at Jolly from GB. This guy has enough codeine in his vehicle to knock out small country and he is playing. I can’t remember but was he even suspended. It would be different if these guys were roid mongers, but they are not. They are stand up guys and as far as I can remember they haven’t been in trouble in the past.
My hope is the Vikes use this as a motivation to prove the national media wrong.

NFL Joke
NFL Rules: Let’s keep information secret and then penalize players when they violate that information. What a joke.
Does anyone else like the Vikings throw back uniforms better than the current rendition? Bring back the throw back uniforms!

Absolutely...
I agree. Bring back the Vintage Vikings uniforms and get rid of that ugly crap that Childress has now.

He's an elected official
The citizens of the People’s Republic of Minnesota put him where he is.
If he wants to get re-elected, he made the right call.
Hey, it ain’t right. . .but at this point, I’m not quite sure that I care.

I Hope The Article Is True....
The NFL Network just reported a few minutes ago that the injunction will allow the Williams Wall to practice with the team and maybe let them play on Sunday if they can get another hearing before then. I hope the article is right about them playing. Anybody hear different?
