First Vikings game do's and don'ts???
Hey Everybody,
I'm taking my wife, lifelong Vikings fan, out to Minnesota from Maryland this weekend for her first (and most likely last) chance to see her team play in their home stadium. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on what to do and not to do while we are in town. Are there any must see spots around the stadium area or any tips that will help an out-of-towner? Will there be tailgating at the stadium? Any cool sports bars around the stadium that we should check out? Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks.

There’s really not much to see in Minnesota except maybe the Mall of America, and even then it’s not incredibly impressive.

If you've never been...
to the MOA, then you should go. Your wife will probably love it if she loves shopping and at the very least it is quite a sight, the first time. After the first time though, you remember it is just a mall.

Gonna have to disagree on that one...
Although I agree that MOA really isn’t that great, Minnesota has plenty to do and see. It just depends on what you’re into.
Not being 21 years of age, I really couldn’t tell you much about bars except that I think Grumpy’s is a popular spot on Washington Ave (very close to dome).
For dinner and such I would recommend taking a visit down Hennepin Ave, there are several cool restaurants there. Also, Grand Ave in St. Paul is nice if you wanted to drive over there. If you’re into the art scene you could visit the Walker, a truly unique art museum.

Bring some snow back with you!
I live in Virginia and the absence of snow here is depressing!
I agree that the MOA is over rated but you can’t go wrong with a stroll down Nicolette Ave. before or after the game. (Assuming that the holiday decorations are still up). You can visit DinkyTown (University of MN area). and skiumah06 is right, the museums are great (not always free like here in DC though). For a great theater experience bring her to Walker Art Center (as skiumah mentioned). They have an excellent art gallery, one of the best theaters in the country, and huge sculpture garden all on site. Grand Avenue in St. Paul has some interesting stores so if you have a car could head over there.
If you really want an experience, bring her ice fishing!
Norm Green still sucks!

Tailgating pass?
What is the deal with the tailgating pass? I’ve got one, but don’t know what the deal is. How many hours before the game does the lot open? How is parking?

Lots of stuff
Go check out some of the nearby bars—Grumpy’s and Maxwell’s are just down Washington, or cross the bridge to Seven Corners.
As for when you’re at the game, try to learn the Vikings fight song. It’s awesome. The Hormel row of fame song is pretty great too, but I can’t remember if they play it Vikes games as well as Twins games. We always stay till the last snap too, just because that’s what being a fan is all about. Lastly, scream, shout, clap, stomp, and do whatever you can to make as much noise as possible when JA and KWill start waving their arms around. The Dome’s biggest advantage is the noise. (Also, consider bringing earplugs. Seriously).
Hope you enjoy the game!

Skol Vikings lyrics:
Skol Vikings, let’s win this game,
Skol Vikings, honor your name,
Go get that first down,
Then get a touchdown.
Rock ‘em . . . Sock ’em
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Go Vikings, run up the score,
You’ll hear us yell for more. . .
V-I-K-I-N-G-S
Skol, Vikings, let’s go
When you go to somebody's house, you don't crap on their floor. Being a fan of one team does NOT give you license to be a dick to fans of another.

I live in Joppa, just moved from whitemarsh about 5 months ago. I’m in Canton all the time though. I’m sure you’ve been to Magerks in Fed Hill to watch an Eagles game, good crowd. I hear you about it being tough to be an Eagles fan in B’more these days. I went to the game and it was brutal! I still make it up for all the Eagles home games too.

A Big High5 to Robert Rence!
Sad as this is going to sound, I had never heard the entire Vikings song before today! Thanks Robert for enlightening my Purple spirit with the full rendition of our sacred song.
I love this place!
