QB Controversy?
Who didn't love the way TJ played on Sunday? Who thinks he'll have a 143.8 passer rating in each game he plays?
For the game against the Cards, I would like TJ to play. I think Gus should remain "injured" for the game whether he is or isn't as head coaches do not like to switch back and forth between starters because one might have a hot hand for a few plays.
My problem with Jackson, while I prefer him over Gus right now, is that his deep and intermediate passes are NOT good. Have we seen TJ throw the seam route as well as Gus? Obviously we can't be too worried if he throws a pick or two a game as that's been Gus' norm too. I'm just not certain that we can rely on Tarvaris, with what would seem to be a limited playbook (historically speaking), to throw slants and bootlegs to nobody all night. I think Tarvaris could be more successful in this offense, but it will take a certain Head Coach to play to his strengths instead of limiting him so much.

Interceptions
I prefer TJ, at least when he throws up a stupid pass he gives the cornerback and the receiver and equal chance to catch it . . . Gus hits the DB right between the numbers.

No reason
For Gus Frerotte to play. If the Vikings have a ceiling, it’s higher with Tavaris. It seems as though many think Tavaris lost his job because of bad play. He didn’t play especially poorly. The Vikings didn’t score any less points with him at the helm than with Gus.
Gus was tapped to play because he would make better decisions to take a sack or throw the ball away (actually right to a defender) on a team that couldn’t catch and wasn’t getting to the quarterback.

It's been said
If Gus is healthy he’ll start for sure.

Doesn't this suck?
Doesn’t it suck that we actually have to choose between Gus Frerotte and T-Joke? I really wish we would have gone after Chad Pennington or Jeff Garcia or some other wad that was available in the off-season. It’s not like it was a secret that Gus Frerotte was GUS FREROTTE and that T-Joke was, well, A JOKE! Sheesh… both guys are terrible. And please don’t be a sucker and think that T-Joke will ever be an NFL caliber player – that guy doesn’t have what it takes to play at a high level – he sucks. This reminds me of the 80’s, when all we needed was a RB.. and of the 90’s, when all we needed was a Defense… now all we need is a QB… but I still love this friggin team…

Honestly, how can you say he’s a joke after only 16 games experience? I would have loved if we picked up Pennington also, I was hoping we would. But to write off Jackson so early is just plain dumb. He played well last week, and while that doesn’t mean he’s going to be a superstar, or that he’s ready to take up the reigns right now, it should offer some hope that he can turn out to be at least a decent starter in the future.

Can't see why...
you say nobody can write him off. Did you miss all 16 games he started for us? It’s not like he was good one week and questionable another. He was always, well, not really that great. I guess you like when AP works his ass off, only to score field goals because Jackson can’t get us into the end zone.
And, I know, you’ll remind me about last week against the LIONS! Well it was a defense not ready for him and they are ranked last anyway.

Actually, I watched the games last year. He did pretty well against the Giants when we didn’t have AD, he had good throws against the Bears too, and then there’s the Denver game where he brought us back in the 4th quarter to force OT. There’s other instances, I’m just not going to list them all out. Oh, yeah, and the second Lions game where the whole offense was clicking. Sure, he had his share of bad games too, the first detroit game comes to mind.
And if you think that the reason we only scored field goals in the Colts game was because of Jackson I want you to go back and watch it again. Recievers couldn’t hold onto the ball, Shiancoe dropped a sure TD pass which turned out to be a difference. And no, I hate when Peterson has a great game, only to have us lose. But, again, you can’t blame only Jackson for the two losses. And you can’t write him off after 16 games. I want you to look at Peyton Mannings first 16 games. Obviously, Jackson isn’t Manning, but the point is that 16 games is really not enough time for a QB to develop. Sorry.

Eli Manning and his INT’s helped us win that game last year against the Giants. Jackson did do well but still wasn’t all that great. And your right about the colts game too. I remember the dropped ball for him but that’s the only thing you really got on this guy. Let him develop first. Most of these arguements are because of us panicing about Gus. We’re sitting pretty right now and have come to far to maybe, just on a hunch, throw in T-Jack if, infact, he really isn’t ready.

c'mon Frost...
you gotta be kidding me – Tarvaris Jackson is the worst QB in the entire league. He’s flat out terrible. I don’t understand what people like you see in that idiot. Bad footwork, bad decisions, bad, bad, bad…

Worst in the league? I don’t think so. I just don’t think anybody’s seen enough of him to make the statements they are. I’m not saying he hasn’t played some terrible games. I’m just saying that he may turn out to do well. His footwork and decisions weren’t so bad on sunday, and that’s universal. Your footwork and decisions don’t depend on the defense, however bad they might be. I’m hoping he learned something from Gus on the bench, because I think he has the tools necessary to make it in the league.
