Discuss!!

The NFL will be formally announcing the 2008 NFL Schedule this afternoon on NFL Network at 1 PM Central time.  We'll use this thread to discuss the schedule for the Beloved Purple.

But, according to Access Vikings, the leaks have already started coming. . .and this is one that I'm particularly interested in.

A few details about the Vikings' 2008 schedule have started to emerge.

We've learned the Vikings will play at New Orleans in a Monday night game on Oct. 6 on ESPN.

That will be the Vikings' second Monday night game in 2008 and no doubt is a result of Pro Bowl running back Adrian Peterson's presence on the roster. It was previously announced the Vikings will open the season with a Monday night game on Sept. 8 at Green Bay.

It won't be surprising if the Vikings also end up with at least one Sunday night game on NBC.

On one hand. . .I am so totally going to this game.  On the other hand. . .with it being a Monday night, it makes it a bit tough to have any sort of get together for any readers that might be in the New Orleans area and also attending the game.

But I'm still totally going, with or without you.  (-:

Got about an hour and 45 minutes until the schedule is formally announced. . .and as soon as it's available, it will be right here at The Daily Norseman!

Update [2008-4-15 12:29:35 by Gonzo]:

Another announcement from the same Star-Tribune blog entry. . .the Beloved Purple will also host the Carolina Panthers in Week 3.

More as it becomes available.

Update [2008-4-15 12:53:16 by Gonzo]:

Same post is now reporting that it looks like the Vikings' home opener might be on 14 Sep against the Indianapolis Colts.

Update [2008-4-15 13:24:12 by Gonzo]:

The Vikings' home date with the Chicago Bears is tenatively scheduled for Sunday night, 30 November, in Minneapolis. I say "tenatively" because that's a game that could potentially become the victim of the "flex" scheduling by the NFL.

I hate prime time games. I can't take the waiting all day for the game. Drives me nuts.

It's about time!
Glad this is finally out; tough schedule though. I read somewhere else the Vikes have the 5th toughest (is that right?) and the Patsy's got the easiest (is that right too?)

No Cold Weather Games?
Detroit has a dome, so the only potential cold-weather game is Oct. 19 in Chicago. That's great news for the Vikes, even if the passing game is questionable right now.

Come October the passing game will NOT
be questionable.

It'll either be just fine or it will suck. We'll know by then.

Tough schedule
but I like our chances to win the division.

With Grossman still in Chicago I don't see them doing much.  They're moving backwards.
Green Bay... well... what is there to say?
If Detroit can pull together an entire season, they've got a shot, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'd say the NFC North is the Vikes to lose.

Those first five weeks are killer
I'll be happy if we come out of it witha 3-2 record.
