Did the Vikings Learn Nothing from Troy Williamson?

It appears not because, according to Judd Zulgad, the Vikings could be planning on taking a look at one of the few wide receivers from recent drafts that managed to be even more craptacular than Williamson was.

We’re checking on this one because it seems like a long shot but the Saginaw (Mich.) News reported Sunday that former Detroit Lions receiver Charles Rogers is going to workout for the Vikings.

Good lord, I hope this isn't true.  Rodgers hasn't played in an NFL game since 2005, and wasn't particularly impressive during the time he was in Detroit.  Honestly, I know the Vikings' receivers aren't great or anything, but which one of them would Charles Rodgers actually beat out for a roster spot?

UPDATE:  Never mind. . .apparently it was a false alarm.

I really wouldn't have blamed him if it was true, though. . .there are few better places in the NFL to play than Minnesota.  Before too much longer, everyone's going to want to come here.

Intelligent... OK

Heres something intelligent for you… A look at the teams and why players would want to go to Minnie or Packers…

Ownership:
Vikes: Wilf, can’t get a new stadium from his fans… Most likely cutting costs and pinching pennies.
Packers: Executive Committee, exists to provide the football team w/ whatever it needs to improve the team. Advantage Packers.

Stadium:
Vikes: Humphrey Metrodome, known as the Humpty Dumpty Dome
Packers: Lambeau Field, known as The Frozen Tundra, considered by most NFL fans as a Mecca of Professional football. Advantage Packers!

GM:
Vikes: None… A Dir of Player Personnel and a Dir of College Scouting. They presumably have equal power. Or Paton has control of Football decisions… Or does Wilf?
Packers: Ted Thompson, voted by GM’s and front office executives as NFL Executive of the Year. Advantage Packers!

Head Coach:
Vikes: Childress
Packers: McCarthy, 2nd to Belicheat in NFL Coach of the Year. Advantage Packers!

Recent History:
VIkes: Record for last 15-20 years???
Packers: Among the best Records in the NFL last 15-20 years. 2 Super Bowl appearances, 1 SB win. Advantage Packers!

Past History:
Vikes: Couple (3 or 4) SB appearances, No NFL titles…
Packers: 4 SB appearances, 3 SB Wins, 12 NFL titles (most in NFL history). Advantage Packers!

QB:
Vikes: Tarvaris Jackson
Packers: Aaron Rodgers
advantage: push, if given the choice Nearly every NFL GM would take Rodgers, but both are unproven to date.

Total:
6 categories.
5 Packers Advantage
1 push
0 Vikes Advantage

You said you wanted intelligent post… Well I just gave an intelligent analysis of why NFL players would choose Green Bay Packers over the Minnesota Vikings…

Good Bye

yeah...

I like how you compare QBs but don’t compare RBs, DLs, OLs, DBs, etc.

That's probably because

Minnesota’s running backs are light years better than Green Bay’s.

Minnesota’s offensive and defensive lines are both better than Green Bay’s.

It’s also probably because he’s an idiot. Actually, that’s probably the main reason.

Not to mention the other obvious advantages

Minneapolis: Located in Minnesota
Green Bay: Located in Wisconsin
Advantage: Minnesota

Vikings games: Attended by Viking fans
Packers games: Attended by Packer fans
Advantage: Minnesota

Minnesota: One post-season victory over Green Bay
Green Bay: Zero post-season victories over Minnesota
Advantage: Minnesota

Minnesota: A team on the way up
Green Bay: A team that just had their window of opportunity slam shut
Advantage: Minnesota

I’m sure there are a lot more, but I’m in the middle of another post. Feel free to add more of your own.

Because QB win Championships!!! Reggie White said the reason he went to GB was because of Favre! He wouldn’t have signed in GB if it didn’t have a Champioship QB…

Sure its important to have a top D and a running game, but the leader is always the QB and if you don’t have the leadership and the passing ability of a championship QB you don’t win the SB!!!

How many SB have been won by mediocre QB? Dilfer and Baltimore, but at least Dilfer was a decent leader. Other than that every SB has been won w/ a Championship QB!!!

I’m not really sure what Troy Williamson has to do with Charles Rodgers.

Too much cheese whiz on the brain

Heres something intelligent for you… A look at the teams and why players would want to go to Minnie or Packers…
Here is my reply to your “intelligent” post.

Ownership:
Vikes: Wilf, can’t get a new stadium from his fans… Most likely cutting costs and pinching pennies.
Packers: Executive Committee, exists to provide the football team w/ whatever it needs to improve the team. Advantage Packers.
First off, Wilf is about the best owner in the NFL. See http://vikevision.com/?p=58
Your executive committee doesn’t impress anyone, including the players.

Stadium:
Vikes: Humphrey Metrodome, known as the Humpty Dumpty Dome
Packers: Lambeau Field, known as The Frozen Tundra, considered by most NFL fans as a Mecca of Professional football. Advantage Packers!
We WILL build a stadium, and when we do, it will shame that little ice box you have in Green Bay.

I’d say our front office has done a remarkable job of building a team since they took control in 2006. All I can say for Thompson is that it is easy to look like you know what you are doing when you have a QB that wins games for you. Teddy won’t look so hot after this year.

Head Coach:
Vikes: Childress
Packers: McCarthy, 2nd to Belicheat in NFL Coach of the Year. Advantage Packers!
See above. And by the way, “Belicheat” wasn’t squat until Brady made him look like a genius. I respect McCarthy, but he won’t have Favre to make him look good anymore.

Recent History:
VIkes: Record for last 15-20 years???
Packers: Among the best Records in the NFL last 15-20 years. 2 Super Bowl appearances, 1 SB win. Advantage Packers!
See below

Past History:
Vikes: Couple (3 or 4) SB appearances, No NFL titles…
Packers: 4 SB appearances, 3 SB Wins, 12 NFL titles (most in NFL history). Advantage Packers!
These points about history are just dumb. Players only care WHERE A TEAM IS GOING, not where they have been. Vikings are on the way up, and that is why so many Free Agents jumped on our bandwagon. How many players did the Pack sign?

QB:
Vikes: Tarvaris Jackson
Packers: Aaron Rodgers
advantage: push, if given the choice Nearly every NFL GM would take Rodgers, but both are unproven to date.
Just you wait and see what T-Jack has for you cheese heads on week 1! We already know what Rodgers has for us…a couple of gift-wrapped INTs.

Total:
6 categories.
5 Packers Advantage
1 push
0 Vikes Advantage

You said you wanted intelligent post… Well I just gave an intelligent analysis of why NFL players would choose Green Bay Packers over the Minnesota Vikings…
No you didn’t. You spewed a load of homer-biased crap all over the page. You also failed to compare our teams in areas which we obviously have an edge.
We have one of the brightest young stars in the league in Peterson. He has already had a huge impact on other players wanting to play for the Vikings. The Packers no longer have a player who can be considered the face of the franchise.
We also have one of the scariest defenses in the NFL. Defense wins championships, so I shouldn’t have to explain why that would be attractive to free agents. The Packer D was a little better than middle of the pack, lost their best DT and added no one.
*Finally, the Vikings players get to live in the Mpls/St.Paul area, voted one the best places to live in the nation. Packer players have to live out in the middle of that giant cow pasture they call Wisconson. Enough said.

Good Bye
Good Riddance!

A Little Update

Our resident idiot is not at all broken up about being banned from the site. In fact, he’s so NOT broken up about it that he had to e-mail me to tell me just how not broken up he was.

In a related story, he’s still a complete idiot.
