ESPN gets rid of some garbage

Is this related to the Vikes? No. But it certainly made me smile.

ESPN suspends columnist Hill

ESPN.com columnist Jemele Hill was suspended yesterday after sparking outrage by comparing rooting for the Boston Celtics to Adolf Hitler and nuclear war.

“Jemele has been relieved of her writing and on-air responsibilities for a period of time to reflect on the impact of her words,” ESPN spokesman Paul Melvin said in an e-mailed statement yesterday.

Yesterday, Hill amplified on her earlier apology for writing, “Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It’s like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan.”

I remember her! I sent her a letter!

Here was my letter to her about a Jared Allen article.

“Ms. Hill,

Granted I am a Vikings fan so please take this however you feel is appropriate.

I looked long and hard at Mr. Allen’s past (as much as I could at
least). His offenses took place in 2006. Lets remind ourselves that
today we are in 2008. Jared and the people around him (including KC
teammates) claim he is done with the booze, yet many people still
think he is a “risk”. As a matter of fact I just read that if he
keeps on his good behavior the NFL will wipe out his previous
offenses. Why can people not give a kid some credit for owning up to
his past and moving forward in the right direction? He hasn’t had a
drink in almost 2 years! If you ask me that’s pretty impressive!

Five, six, seven years down the road do we finally forget about a
couple offenses? Or do we keep dwelling on the past questioning the
next team to pick him up because he had an offense many years ago? I
can see the day now…. “Vikings screwed up again by giving Jared
Allen a new contract… he had two DUI’s 8 years ago! I’m surprised
they extended his contract despite the Super Bowl rings he now has on
his finger!” hehe

I mean if he is so bad why didn’t KC just cut him? The Vikings kept
their word and cut Koren Robinson when he let the organization down
yet I don’t see your article scolding Green Bay for picking him up off
the carpet. Vikings cut Dwight Smith to have the Lions swoop him up
as soon as they could get the pen to draw ink. Koren and Dwight were
fresh out of the cell! At least the Vikings did their homework.

We will see I guess!

Are you a Tampa Bay fan that is sad to see Jared Allen go to the Vikings? J/K

A Putz!

I don’t know, can you call a woman a “Putz”? She certainly knows how to ruffle some feathers, doesn’t she? She is one of those reporters that likes to pretend they are talking about something controversial, and get their 2 cents in, without knowing what in the hell they are talking about. I hope they show her the road for good.

Although I do believe that Celtic’s fans are A-holes! :)

Coddlers

Suspended? They should have made her into a hanging lamp so she can have the degree of attention she craves…

I'm glad someone's linking to ESPN

I still haven’t been to their site since the first day of the NFL Draft.
