Sunday's Probable Leading Reciever for the Vikings

Aundrae Allison.

I am really optimistic about this weekend's matchup and our upgrade in the passing game.

Allison was one of Frerotte's favorite targets in pre-season.

Allison to my knowledge, I haven't checked the official stats, but I've never seen him drop a pass, if he has it is rare, but he has always seems to convert for us on 3rd down when called upon.

Allison has already set records and made impressions in his only (slightly)consistent role as a kick returner. (And im sure given the opportunity and more plays at WR will also succeed)

With Rice out, Ken Lucas covering the poor route running Berrian, and Chris Gamble likely covering Bobby Wade, I think Allison has a matchup favoring him against Richard Marshall or whoever else they send to cover him.

That's just my take on what we are looking at with Rice out. I think Allison is going to take full advantage of this opportunity. Don't get me wrong, I think Wade will fair alright, but its going to take something more convincing than these last two games for me to have faith in Berrian. Shiancoe still can't catch so I am not so sure he is going to produce more than perhaps 2 receptions.

With that being said, time for the poll that everyone loves to take.

I Agree

A.A. has a good shot to make some plays. BB gun might still have more total yards, if he can get open down field, but A.A. might get more opportunities with favorable matchups, and he has the elusiveness to make things happen after the catch. I am still bummed about Rice theohg, he is a ball catching machine.

I like the analysis

It’s made me pretty confident that he’ll do well. But what about All Day or Chester out of the backfield? If Brad’s smart, they’ll have more receptions than the total amount of passes thrown to Shank, recepted or not.

And who voted for Lucas and/or Gamble?

In AP I trust

"Vikings Fans"

Yah FarvaForTheVikings, I put that Ken Lucas/Chris Gamble option in there mostly as a joke, yet we have such pessimistic fans these days that they feel insulting the team in which ever way they can will somehow turn the team around.

I agree AD and Chester will still get their catches, along with Tapeh, but I have no doubt that any of them will not perform well.

And I agree Thor, Sid (to me right now) is our #1 receiver and a good one at that, will definately be missed while he’s out, but now that he is thats even more the reason why its up to Berrian to step up and start earning his money. I hope Berrian gets more yards than any other Viking, I hope he gets more yards than any other Panther.

Wade

I wouldn´t be surprised if Wade lined up in the slot with Berrian and Allison on the wings. He may end up seeing the lions share of the inside routes, which will hopefully be free and clear with the LBs looking for some AD lovin.

Interesting

While I don’t understand or agree with the Ken Lucas/Chris Gamble picks as our best receiver, I am interested in some of these poll results. Looks like everyone is kinds split on who will be our #1 receiver this week. Kind of predictable being that we have no real identity in the passing game yet. The lone Shiancoe vote was interesting also. I hope he has a great game, he seems to get open for us when we ask him to, its just the latter part of the play that he seems to struggle with (catching, that is).
