Official Carolina Panthers/Minnesota Vikings Injury Reports
Well, folks, it's Friday, and that means it's time for a check of the injury reports for both of the teams involved in this Sunday's clash at the Metrodome. Oh, and there's one name on the injury reports that Vikings fans probably aren't going to like too terribly much.
We'll start with the visiting Carolina Panthers.

That's a LOT of folks to have listed as "Questionable." I'm trying to find a little more information on which of those guys are going to play and which are going to sit out, and as soon as I can find something I'll pass it along to everybody.
Now, on to the Beloved Purple. The injury list is significantly longer than it has been over the past few weeks, and that's never a good sign when you're preparing to play a team as physical as the Panthers.

Hey. . .any names stand out to anybody there? (Besides that last one, which I may or may not have made up.)
Yes, folks, Adrian Peterson is going to be a game-time decision with a hamstring injury that he got in last week's loss to Indianapolis. If I were a betting man, I would guess that he was going to play and that they're just being cautious with him, but at this point I know just as much as you do.
More on this game over the course of this evening and into tomorrow. Until then, enjoy the rest of your Friday, and we'll see you back here again soon!

troubling Injury Report
I think that your analysis of what ails T-Jack is spot on. I think that “All Day” will play, even if it is only in spot duty. If that is the case, then I won’t be to concerned because Chester Taylor is more then adaquate as a fill in for AP.
What troubles me the most (unless AP doesn’t suite up at all) is the injury report on our Wideouts. 3 of our 5 wideouts have suffered injuries already this season, with 2 having foot injuries and one to the knee, not good for someone whose role is to run really fast, down the field. whats also troubleing is that all 3 of those wide outs have the potential for the most explosive passing plays. B.Wade is a good, but not explosive reciever and Fergusons only real reason for being on the team is to provide down field blocking for the running backs.
I think you nailed that last one straight on the head. Especialy since the reason, ostensibly for his benching is lingering effects of his preseason injury, so it is fitting to list him on the report, even though, i hope, no one is buying Chillie’s excuses.

Coaches Poll
Shouldnt Chillie be on that list due to unable to perform.
I would like to compliment you Gonzo on an awesome blog. I am a Minnesota born Viking fan. I grew up in the Bud Grant era, moved to Oklahoma and was totally thrilled to see AD picked by the Vikes. Hopefully Chillie didnt ruin AD’s season on two pathetically called games. In college it was incredible watching him run defenders over like he did to the Green Bay defensive back.
The first two games of the season were on tv here in Oklahoma, so hopefully that jinx will stop this week when I wont be able to see the Vikes on tv. I stopped checking on the Twins in the sports section so dont be surprised if they end up winning the division.
So its actually my fault we started out 0-2. Sorry guys

Chilibevell Should Be Placed On the MUP (Mentally Unable to Perform) List
Couldn’t agree with you more both with respect to this blog and as to your sentiments on Col. Klink. The StarTrib’s AccessVikings is more aptly called AccessAssclowns as for every decent football comment there are twenty wankoff postings.
I’m kinda like you. Lived in St. Louis Park when I was a kid and saw the first game the Vikes ever played and have stuck with them all these 47 years (I’m 53). Other than Les Steckel, Childress is the worst coach the Vikes have ever had which admittedly isn’t a long list. Thing is he was highly regarded around the league when we signed him although it looks now like most of his rep probably had to do more with being in the aura of Andy Reid than anything else.
I’d love to think Gus Frerotte will be a big improvement but I doubt he will. The problem with the Vikes starts at the top. When Col. Klink actually let Jackson play last year as he did in the Denver game the kid was impressive. Instead of sticking with that he reverts back to the beginning of last year with the same old conservative, throw out half the playbook, killed them down the stretch last year once defenses started putting 8 and sometimes 9 (as did the Redskins) in the box and Childress wouldn’t or couldn’t adapt.
Hamstring injuries are delicate things. Personally, I’d sit AD this week, get him healthy, and go with Taylor who can fill in admirably although he’s not the home run hitter AD is. But if Childress doesn’t open it up and start going play action and mixing the run and pass better and taking shots down the field none of this will mean diddly and I’m not optimistic of Gus staying upright for much of this game either with Peppers and Co. going against two weak OT’s in Hicks and Cook.

Questionable
John Fox always has a handful of Questionables before a game. Trust me, each one of them will be playing at 110%.

Why are all our wide receivers banged up? Granted I saw some of them getting ridden by defenders, but still it seems strange.

Peterson vs Taylor
Hey guys, i’m coming over from cat scratch reader, but thought I just say, while I would rather play against Taylor, i realize he can be just as dangerous. If AP doesn’t play it may lend the Panthers defense to be taken advantage of because they don’t think they have to play as hard against Taylor. I guess we’ll see. It should be a good game.

Taylor certainly isn't bad, that's for sure.
If your guys fall asleep on a play he has the potential to make you pay.
