The Playoffs Start Today
No, not for the Beloved Purple, but for the Metrodome's other residents, the Minnesota Twins.
The Chicago White Sox won their make-up game against the Detroit Tigers to force a tie with the Twins for the American League Central lead, which means we're going to have a one-game playoff at U.S. Cellular Field this evening. The winner of this game will go on to face the upstart Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the American League Divisional Series starting on Thursday.
The game will be televised starting at 6:30 PM Central time on TBS. . .and, yes, it's still weird seeing baseball games on TBS that don't involve the Braves. We got a one-game playoff in the National League last year between the Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres for the NL Wild Card, and it might have been the best baseball game of the 2007 season. Hopefully we'll be in for just as big a treat tonight.
Here's the projected pitching matchup for tonight:
I know that a lot of you folks that participate here are regulars over at Twinkie Town, SBNation's Twins site and the best damn Twins site on the internet. I hope to see a lot of you over there cheering the Twins on this evening as they try to complete a regular season that nobody saw coming back in April.
We'll have Vikings stuff later on. I hope to see you back here then!

I hope I am wrong but I feel
little confidence that Blackburn will be able to shut the dirty south siders down.

I think he'll step up.
The Twins have some marked advantages in this game, and I’m hoping they can exploit them.
Thanks for the support Gonzo!

Go Twins!
There’s no other team I’d like to beat more to make the playoffs—we did it 3 times last week, so what’s one more? Blackburn makes me a bit nervous, but I’m sure Gardy will keep him on a short leash for our bullpen, who for the most part has been good lately. Let’s send Swisher, Gay J Pierzynski, Dye, and company on vacation tonight!

Question
I’m mainly a football guy, but can anyone tell me why when the Twins won the season series against the White Sox, is the game in Chicago instead of in the Humpty Dump[t]y Dome? It’s not like the Vikings are using it.
It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes a Viking to raze a village.

Coin Flip
That’s the method that MLB uses to decide this sort of thing.
Lovely, ain’t it?

There is no excuse
Head to Head should have some meaning, but i guess in base ball, here they play 162 games, and see there rival 18 times the sample size must be too small I guess???

I really have no reason why it happens that way.
It sucks, but that’s the way it goes I guess. Hopefully we can pull it off anyway.

Coin flip
They did coin flips for every possible scenario 3 weeks ago so that any tiebreaking possibilities were decided already as to which team would be the home team. As to the game tonight, go White Sox!!

good game by Blackburn, Twins go punchless into the night.
Can’t be too upset though. When you lose two of three at home to the Royals in the last series of the year do you really deserve to be in the playoffs????
