No, not for the Beloved Purple, but for the Metrodome's other residents, the Minnesota Twins.
The Chicago White Sox won their make-up game against the Detroit Tigers to force a tie with the Twins for the American League Central lead, which means we're going to have a one-game playoff at U.S. Cellular Field this evening. The winner of this game will go on to face the upstart Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the American League Divisional Series starting on Thursday.
The game will be televised starting at 6:30 PM Central time on TBS. . .and, yes, it's still weird seeing baseball games on TBS that don't involve the Braves. We got a one-game playoff in the National League last year between the Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres for the NL Wild Card, and it might have been the best baseball game of the 2007 season. Hopefully we'll be in for just as big a treat tonight.
Here's the projected pitching matchup for tonight:
I know that a lot of you folks that participate here are regulars over at Twinkie Town, SBNation's Twins site and the best damn Twins site on the internet. I hope to see a lot of you over there cheering the Twins on this evening as they try to complete a regular season that nobody saw coming back in April.
We'll have Vikings stuff later on. I hope to see you back here then!
