The 2008 Daily Norseman Pick 'Em Pool Is Up!

And you can go ahead and get signed up right here!  There will be a prize of some sort involved but, like the fantasy league, I'm not entirely sure what that prize will be yet.  It will probably depend on what my personal budget looks like by the end of the season and things of that nature.

But the folks at FunOfficePools.com have set up a pool with a bit of a unique format.  In this case, we're still picking the games straight up (not taking the spread into account), but the spread IS used to determine who's the favorite and who's the underdog, with selections being scored appropriately.

(And, yes, I have already been given one point for some reason, even though I don't remember picking last night's game.  I'm working with the people from FunOfficePools to get that removed, and if it can't be, I'll just adjust the standings at the end of the season.)

For example, if you look at the pool for this week, you'll see that Green Bay is a 3 point favorite over Minnesota.  That means that, in this pool, if you pick Green Bay to win straight-up and they do so, you get 1 point added to your standings.  However, if you pick Minnesota (the underdog) to win straight-up and they do so, you get 2 points.

The bigger the underdog, the more points the underdog is worth to your standings.  In this pool for this week, the Patriots are a 16.5 point favorite over the Chiefs.  A correctly predicted New England victory is worth 1 point to you. . .but a correctly predicted Kansas City victory is worth 3 points to you.

With as unpredictable as the NFL can be, there will always be some underdogs that jump up and surprise every week. . .it's up to you to decide which ones!

So come on and jump into the pool, everyone!  Picks will be due before kickoff on Sunday.  I hope to see a lot of you there, as this promises to be a lot of fun.
