We need more Garrett Mills
The Title says it all. He is our third best recieving threat and last nights game showed it. 3 for 49 and 2 first downs. Not a bad night from a Tight End. good enough to put him well a head of league average. I know its just one game, but he looked awfully good out their.
I some how think that "Fumbles and Drops" Shiancoe must bear some responsability for that last second INT. After all he was the target, did he run a horrendous rout? I know the ball was over thrown, but if he had run a better rout, maybe the drive gets one more shot?

I say
we start Mills over Shiancoe and see how he does. Also, utilize All Day in the flats. He thrives on space.

Mills is the better and cheaper option over Shiancoe, if for no other reason then he gets open and holds onto the ball. I predict, that by the end of the season, Mills wil have more catches and yards then Shiancoe, even if he is still on our roster as the starter.
I have been saying for the past year, we need to pass to AP more often. it seems that Chilly is unwilling to let the man Catch a Damn ball. One pass to him on monday and and it goes for 11 yrds and a first down. He should have seen at least 2 or 3 more pass plays directed towards him. could have changed the out come of the game.

Uhhh
Did you watch the game? Yeah, Mills made 3 catches. And he missed several others. One would’ve been for a first down, perfectly thrown, that he let pass right through his hands. That one sticks out to me.
Shiancoe didn’t do so bad though, honestly. That pass that was ruled incomplete should have been overturned, but whatever. He’s not as bad as people say. At least he hasn’t shown it quite yet.

Ugghhh
Shiancoe is good for one reception for about 20 yards a game, and that’s it. What Tavaris needs right now more than anything is 1) more aggressive play calling, and 2) production out of his receivers. Our passing game is crappy because of too much thinking out there. Let Tarvaris play. Having a TE that can get open and hold onto the ball/not fumble at least 50% of the time will go A LONG ways towards sustaining drives.

Just saying
Why not? Shiancoe hasn’t proven anything. Neither has Mills. Give them both a chance. We don’t necessarily have to start Mills, but give them both some looks.
As long as we’re only counting this year I’ll give you the Shiancoe hasn’t done so bad bit, but if you include last year we’re talking multiple dropped TD receptions, and that IS bad.
As of now, after one game, I won’t say one’s better than the other. But we need a TE that can catch, and if Shank can’t do it let’s see if Mills can. Tying out a new TE isn’t like trying out a new QB, we can do it without risking to much. Also getting more passes to the backs would be nice.

Shiancoe has proven that he sucks.
We saw that all last season.

And in the Packers game.
And in the Colts game.
Bench him.
NOW.
