ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Denver Broncos are set to name New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as their next head coach, and will make the announcement tomorrow.

So, I guess Leslie Frazier isn't going to Denver.

Who Knows?

Maybe we’ll dodge another bullet this year and keep him. If Chili doesn’t work out, he’d make a damn fine head coach for the Vikes.

I thought the same thing.

Frazier still will have to get by the Rams, but if he does he may not be hired this season. He interviews with Tuesday and where he’s up against Jim Haslett at the moment. Losing to Haslett would be a shocker to me especially with how the fans here in the St Louis area feel about him, but it is possible.

It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes a Viking to raze a village.

No offense to Frazier...

If I was an NFL owner looking for a new head coach, I’d snatch up Frazier. Hell, if I was Zygi Wilf I’d hire Frazier as my head coach effective immediately! That said, I’m wondering whether or not Frazier is only being brought in as a “Rooney Rule” guy for some of these interviews so teams meet the NFL requirement of interviewing minorities for open positions. Both the Jets and Broncos have claimed they got their first choice for the new positions with Mangini and McDaniels, so it’s slightly suspicious that Frazier’s name was being thrown around as a candidate for some of these vacancies. It’s just a theory; I could be way off.

For completely selfish reasons, I really hope the Vikings can keep Frazier as the DC. He’s done a great job, and it would be nice to have continuity at that position for once.

Correction:

The BROWNS got their first choice with Mangini, of course; not the Jets, who unfairly canned him after Brett Favre sabotaged their season down the stretch. But that’s another topic entirely.
