For anyone curious about Childress...
He's going to be staying for next year. No surprise there.

Really, anyone thinking Childress would be gone after this year is a little out there - the man was part of a ten win organization. If he improves some things, we should be okay.
Regardless of your thoughts on him, he's staying around, at least for one more year.
Keep on keepin' on, Vikings fans. It's another year.

The question is IF he improves things. I don’t know if he will. I lost confidence in him the last game.
yes
I have lost confident in him at the start of the season. In reality he has an eye for talent. He is too stubborn to be a head coach. When he decided not to make an attemp for pennington. even jammie duke and waddle wonder how far the viking could have gone with pennington at the helm. I sAy fired his fcking ass. i am tired of his bald head on our sideline. This season is nothing but agony for me. When Favre went to the jets i wanted pennington. All my friends said i am crazy. Now whatch pennington did what he did for a 1-15 Dolphin. So i wiull end this by say fck chilly. I will never capotalize chilly name. oh yes take your son TJack where ever you go
I think the team
will get better, from a talent standpoint.
that is the history of the wilfs ownership. they will spend money to add talent. unfortunetly Childress has shown that he is unable to get better at calling plays. the reason we lost is because Chillie refused to call plays that would take advantage of the relentless blitzes of the Eagles.
Will the Real Thor Please Stand Up ... ?
It is not the play calling
He does not trust TJack to let him audible. When GUs was in there he was able to make some audible at the line.
The Wilfs are playing it like the Rooneys
Aside from the Vikings not using a 3-4 defense, the Wilfs have modeled this team with every single move after the Steelers. These organizational strategies include:
- Run the ball (a minimum of 30 times), and stop the run.
- A football game is a fight that takes place on the line. Whoever wins in the trenches usually wins the game barring turnovers.
- Draft and deal for linemen before playmakers.
- Organizational continuity (Steelers head coach is a lifetime job). If you have a good mustache to match the clipboard that seems to be a plus.
Face it, this team is going to look like this and be run like this for a long time. Judging by how consistent the Steelers have been for the last 20 years, that might not be a bad thing. I don’t have all that much confidence in Childress either, but he’s here to stay. He has made many strides in being less predictable with his offensive play calls this year. I hope he continues to get better.
I guess I dont know for certain who calls the plays whether its Bevell, Childress or a combo the bottom line is:
We need an OC who can call a fuckin offense and let him call it without Chilly going all Type A control freak on him. Someone get Linehan on the phone.
Linehan was terrible
Those offenses could have been much more dominant with a better play caller. It was mind-boggling that he got a head-coaching position. That was a joke, right?
