What If....
So do the Vikings have a chance to get both Matt Cassel and T. J. Houshmandzadeh? I know some of you don't like the idea of Cassel, but if we got those two and kept the same roster we have now (minus the few obvious players leaving) we win the NFC!!! The thought of that happening makes me all giddy!!! That gives us a true franchise QB and a true #1 receiver! GO VIKES!!!!!!

Ooh, and...
We could get Ray Lewis and Troy Polamalu and… I could go on and on and on.
The Vikes $20 plus million in cap space puts them in position to make a move or two, but getting the top two (respective positions) FA available isn’t likely.

OMG... ray lewis is terrible.... and
TROY POLAMALU ROCKS! I think sharper is almost… just almost… done. so bring in that long haired beast!

Well, while we’re discussing fantasies here, I’d rather get Ed Reed over Polamalu.

matt cassel isnt that good...
look what he has around him!! he played in a backup role and thats what he plays.
If he goes to another team and plays great and makes the playoffs then i will eat my words… but until then i stick by my opinion

You don’t think TJ would like the idea of playing for a playoff team. Same with Cassel, wouldn’t be in Tom’s shadow anymore… I may be dreaming, but that’s allowed isn’t it.

Of course dreaming's allowed.
Life would be boring otherwise.

Dreamer
Its not that it wouldn’t be great to get TJ. I genuinely like him as a player and from what I know as a person. He doesn’t seem to get all bitchy like most good WRs, but then again with Ocho he might not be able to get a word in. If he was the Vikes big off-season acquisition I would be pretty happy. But I think the Vikes need a good QB more than an expensive WR.
Speaking of good QBs I don’t think Cassel is one, he is the 2008 version of DA. I don’t want Cassel just like I don’t want DA.
But it is crazy dreaming to think that the Vikes could swing both. Cassel would cost us Chester and a 2nd or our 1st and 3rd and probably a 3rd next year. Then Wilf would have to shell out a lake of cash for TJ. That is how you ruin a team.

"...and now we're all dumber for having listened..."
Cassel? 14 million (franchised) and picks!!!? For a guy who didn’t start in college!!!? It’s the Scott Mitchell syndrome all over again! Is Joe Capp still alive?

Alive Or Dead
Joe Kapp could still outplay some of the QB’s in the league…

Hey, I wouldn’t mind if we nab Houshmenzada. Or maybe even Boldin.
by Frost on Jan 6, 2009 10:42 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
TJ would be great
or any other top end receiver. Berrian would be much better as a number 2. Then we should bring in Garcia or Warner (A HELL of alot cheaper than Cassel) or atleast someone who will give us a better safety net at qb if tjack doesn’t work out.
We are gonna need our first rounder this year to nab a good OT.
by BeardedAxe on Jan 6, 2009 11:06 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
We need a QB to throw to TJ... berrian is just fine!

Hasselbeck might be on our list and is a better option than Warner but less expensive than Cassel…I’m worried Cassel is just a product of the system……
TJ would be a huge upgrade but we’re going to be tight on money….unless we free some up…..

We actually have a decent amount of cap room again this year...
We should have $20.4 million or so. Some changes will occur, but that’s a lot of scratch to throw around.

Here's A Crazy Thought
Does anybody know what kind of contract Randy Moss has with the Pats? I still can’t get used to him wearing anything but purple. Let’s bring him back home where he belongs to finish his career.
by purplegrey on Jan 7, 2009 7:25 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
What an awesome story that would be
But it’s a pipe dream. What an incredible experience that would be though. Fan favor would be the highest it’s been in a LONNNG time, and the city would rally around Randy as a savior. I wish it was possible, but unfortunately, we’ll never see Randy in purple again.

Yeah right!
Randy playing in his 12th+ season in Minnesota would bring the worst out of this faithless bunch. I could imagine it now: "He can’t go deep, get separation or explode like he used to. And all of the outrage over his personality, don’t get me started.
It was just a couple years ago the state would have had you believe he ran over a unit of traffic cops while smoking a pound of weed and driving backwards at high speeds through downtown! There is a reason superstars leave Minnesota and don’t come to Minnesota. Let Randy enjoy the twilight of his career.

Ummm
I guess I overestimate the fan base… I, for one, have always loved Randy Moss and never held any sort of grudge against him. I guess I assumed that other smart fans did the same. Of course we know he wouldn’t want to come back here… but I think it would be naive to say that we wouldn’t want him back.
And exactly what outrage about personality are you talking about? I haven’t heard a peep from Randy in the media in YEARS. He’s grown up, loves being with his kids, and has started a second career as a race owner. I don’t get your point there.

Right...
Randy Moss didn’t get a bad wrap and wasn’t chased out of Minnesota! He was a grown up here and loved being with kids. He did all sorts of great work, but you never heard about that. It was all water bottles, team flights, early exits and fake moons.
