Citrus Speaks on ESPN Brown-Nosing the AFC East

It has started out with ESPN telling us to "read between the lines" when showing a Favre interview. Read what? He said nothing contoversial and watchers were fed how our record was against teams with combined losing records. Again, no respect for the Purple. For that matter the entire NFC North.

Last night all I heard was about how great the Jets D is, how wonderful the Dolphins attack is and how dangerous the AFC East is. They are above average teams at best who will be knocking each other off and losing to upper teir teams. Shoot! At least the Vikes will beat either the Ravens or Steelers. Probobly Ravens but they will give the Steelers a battle and maybe sneak out a win. Undeafeated after these 2 games might be asking alot but not impossible.

Let's get some thing straight. Head to head the NFC North is a far better division than the AFC East.. Start with the Vikings against their field. We would crush any run attack from the Pats and bury Brady if the refs forget he is wearing a skirt. Our line would punish the Jets running game and put Sanchez into a rookie panic.                                                                                                                                                                                                  The Dolphins? Our guys would not sucker into their Wildcat. Best D against their run. Greenway and Leber would not sucker out of position and Winny would come out of nowhere to put a blast on someone. Option up the middle-not a chance. Our DE's would be to quick for them to get around before our LB's got in there to squash any threat of a big end around or long run after the catch

Buffalo? I wouldn't even consider that a game.

So head to head with the North. Vikes would handle all of them but I'll take us over the Pats. I'll throw the Bears at Miami as I think their D has enough to stop the Wildcat and enough weapons to challenge the Dolphins on the scoreboard. They would keep the score down and special teams, D and a little Forte and Cutler would be enough to get them the points they would need to win.

I'll give the Pack the win over the "NY Pretty Boys" If their O-line could play mediocre it would be enough for Rodgers and Company to beat an over rated Jets D, as Miami did. The Pack D is young and building but would have enough to keep them in check. Higher scoring game but I'll give the Pack the edge in a game decided in the air. Rodgers will have the big edge there. I am sick of hearing how great of throw Sanchez makes to a wide open WR. He's not that great yet and there are a lot of QB's making better throws in tougher coverage.

The big finale would be The Kittens. I honestly think they would have a fun day against The Bills. Sure they have been losers but I have never seen a team that bad give so much. If the Rams had that "play hard even if we are not that good" attitude. They might not look so bad. PS Donnie avery-Quit dancing after a TD when you just got your ass wiped. I'l give theLions credit they had some players with some pride last year and you can still see the fight in them this year. Kept the guys with the good attitude and got rid of those content with losing.

If I have to listen to Jaws go on and on about the great AFC East is , I am going to find him somewhere and puke on his cute little BSPN jacket.

only difference I see in the biased writers/commentators is a SLIGHT change in SI's Peter King..

I hate him but he’s at least giving a little respect

Just a reminder that the rankings mean jack.

The only thing that matters until January is the record. Not what ESPN, SI, Fox, or the AZVF have to say (No offense AZVF). Let’s just get through October first.

When you go to somebody's house, you don't crap on their floor. Being a fan of one team does NOT give you license to be a dick to fans of another.

Corollary: When people are visiting your house and behaving themselves, them being a fan of a different team is NOT a reason for you to piss in their beer.

None taken!

I just like doing a ranking without any opinion and seeing how it matches up with the others.

I BELIEVE...

It be funny if it weren't so disgusting...

The Espn crew has bent over (forwards) backwards to make this “the Season of Brady’s Return.” Due to his and the pats lackluster performances so far they had to backburner that noise.

ESPN likes east coast teams.

And the sun rose in the east this morning.

I think ESPN is considering the AFC East to be stronger than the NFC North

because it is constantly competitive in our division. In the NFC North, one is team is dominating. It is neck and neck in the AFC East this year, as it was last year. In the NFC North last year only 2 teams had winning records while the AFC East 3 teams did.

Regarding this year, the NFC North isn’t the strongest division because there is one really strong team in it, it is how competitive the division itself is. Which would make the AFC East stronger, at least that is what I believe ESPN is going by.

You’re right — it’s how they are choosing to interpret it. A true head-to-head comparison by ESPN on the conferences would be interesting though.

by cutlassbob on Oct 13, 2009 3:51 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah I agree.

They should do something like that. I’m not all to fond of ESPN to begin with, I was just trying to make sense of the way ESPN does things.

The day ESPN shows a pro football game over women’s volleyball and bowling during the Sunday slots is the day I’ll start respecting their decision-making ability.

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

Hold on:

Minnesota – 5-0.
Chicago – 3-1, loss to Green Bay
Green Bay – 2-2, losses to the 4-1 Bengals and Vikings.

Between the top three teams, there is one loss outside of the division. How is that not competitive?

Weird. I don’t get it. Oh well. It’s ESPN, I guess.

To tell the truth

I DON’T CARE WHAT ANYBODY SAY ABOUT THE VIKES. In the end when we win the Superbowl . We can SAY SCORE BOARD. In the end that what it is all about. I like
Favre for that attitude. He does not care what people say. He know how well he can play. When we win they kiss our arsss any way

Actually, I would be neervous about that Jets D

Have you watched any of their games? Did you see how they shut down (relatively speaking) Drew Brees?

by puddnhead on Oct 13, 2009 5:45 PM CDT reply actions

Ironically they shut down the Saints

and then for some reason the Dolphins beat them. Either they didn’t play well enough or the Dolphins were good enough to beat them. It could be a mix of both but they didn’t step up during last nights game.

Dolphins won byusing wildcat

They ran it nearly every other snap it seemed like. Seriously though, I think the majority of their yards came from that.

We won’t likley have that as a viable option to beat them.

by puddnhead on Oct 15, 2009 3:24 PM CDT up reply actions

And by their Coach's admission (Ryan)

His D stunk it up. Are they good? Yes. Great? No!

by CitrusFLViking on Oct 14, 2009 5:42 PM CDT up reply actions

I think Ryan was just embarrassed he got beat

He is arrogant like his old man. The Saints did them in and then we beat them the next week.

Jets D oooh scary

Hey Puddnhead didn’t the Saints win that game? One other point the Saints don’t have AP. and they still won. Sanchez looks pretty good but the fact is he is still a rookie. The better defense teams will give him plenty of trouble.

by iowaron on Oct 15, 2009 9:04 AM CDT up reply actions

They did a stat based look at divisions over on SI

I don’t have the link right now but it went something like this
NFC Eeast
NFC North
AFCEast

AFC West
NFCWest.

So by them and their rankings our division came in second on the list of most difficult. NFC East with the Giants etc will be a bit tougher.

Intersesting

You wouldn’t know it by watching the Monday night crew and their little comments. It was if this Dolphins/Jets game was the biggest thing since the invention of indoor toilets.
I wonder how they would be if the Steelers/Vikes game ere on TV? A game that if the Vikes go in undefeated should be billed the game of the year (up til that point)
That game should be shifted to Sunday night if they want ratings. The scenarios are going to be awesome.
Favre vs. Roth. 2 tough D’s trying to shut down 2 dangerous offenses. This may come down to which teams WR put on the best show and will Adrian have a bust out show against Pitt. If AP plays his best game of the year and we pick and plug balls to Harvin and Rice (staying away from Head and Shoulders) we could win favorably.
This could be a low scoring affair or higher scoring decided by a FG. Glad Longwell had thoise years in GB if weather plays against the kickers.

by CitrusFLViking on Oct 14, 2009 5:54 PM CDT reply actions

lol and the Dolphins/Jets game was the biggest thing since "sliced bread" if you ask ESPN.

But in reality it was the best Monday night game I’ve seen so far this year. It was close, intense, and an overall good game. 5 lead changes in the 4th quarter? You can’t get better than that, well so far this year.

Don't question my fandominium.
