Aaron Kampman Up for Trade?!

Fox just said that Kampman isn't fitting into the Packers 3-4 Defense.

Star-divide

They said it would be in the best interest to get him on the trade block and get a deal done before the trade deadline! Wow! I guess if a piece don't fit, get rid of it? It would be more then a long shot to even fathom a possible trade between the Vikes and Pack, but could you imagine that four front.

Jared Allen DE

Pat Williams DT

Kevin Williams DT

Aaron Kampman DE

Damn! It would be nice, but I would be excited to see him leave Green Bay. Whether the Packers are benefiting from his presence at that OLB position or not, he's a threat on the field. I would like to see him go.

They might ask for

Chester Taylor + ?… They could use him. That would be a very high price to pay as versatile a back as he is.

by jshep on Oct 18, 2009 6:20 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Chester Taylor is not that great. At least he hasn’t been showing it this season. For Kampman, they’d want Taylor, and the first two picks. At the very least.

chester taylor not that great?

oh man that was a good one

I would have a signature... but it could cause a schism on this site

by Grape Drank on Oct 18, 2009 11:26 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Eh

He is 30 and will likely start declining sometime soon. We would probably want a good o-lineman but seeing as how you probably wouldn’t trade us McKinnie there probably is no chance a trade happens.

We already had our chance at getting him

and chances are the Packers would only offer him for 5 1st round picks because of TT.
This was back in 2005.

Kampman

can ‘pull a Favre’ and end up here next year.

by jshep on Oct 18, 2009 4:31 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’d guess he’ll get franchised and then traded in the off-season. Is that against the rules? I think Thompson did that with the D-lineman who wont to the Browns.

by Salty on Oct 18, 2009 4:44 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, you cannot franchise a player with the intent to trade them.

But, you can still trade a franchised player in certain circumstances.

by Bjorno on Oct 18, 2009 9:18 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Can he defend the middle of the foeld?

Great player but we really need another secondary person to prevent more of todays almost disaster. Tell me again why Sharper is a saint?

by lifelongvike on Oct 18, 2009 5:43 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Kampman is a DE...

His pass rush would put the Dline at impossible to stop. Hell for ANY O’line.
Tell me why Sharper isn’t still a Viking. Pretty steady eddie out there IMO.

by jshep on Oct 18, 2009 5:55 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sharper isn’t a Viking because he didn’t play as well as he could in our system. We’ve lost nothing so far with Johnson in instead of Sharper. He has as many ints as Sharper had last year already.

by Frost on Oct 18, 2009 6:48 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

The system is flawed,

not Sharper. Our pass D against Flacco & Co. is a case in point.

You don’t think the loss of Winfield had anything to do with that?

by Bjorno on Oct 18, 2009 9:19 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Winfield would have helped because he's our best tackler,

but the Vikes are consistently giving up 380 Receiving yards. The reason the score was so close this week, is because the Ravens didn’t turn the ball over like the Rams did.

by chaosg on Oct 18, 2009 10:19 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Winfield

was there for GB & StL. So to answer your inquiry: I think the system is flawed for pass D. We miss Winfield on tackling. Like the Ray Rice run.

by Odin on Oct 18, 2009 10:31 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

sharper

I thought Sharper played well if you look at the body of work. Last season he was pretty quiet, but prior to that he had some very productive seasons. This defense would be much better and more dangerous with Darren Sharper.

Tyrell Johnson is bad. I have been holding off on saying that for a while in hopes he would improve, but I am not impressed thus far. The safites are the weak link here.

by Spartan99 on Oct 19, 2009 1:22 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm glad someone said it

I am totally unimpressed with Johnson. Sure, he happened to be in the right place to catch the INT last week, but he has been totally smoked when out of position. I know he is young, but come on. I really miss Sharper and his leadership.

I hear you… I thought Tyrell would turn out better than he has so far, but it hasn’t happened. Instead, the secondary has been the Vikings Achilles Heel for the past 3 years, it has to be a priority to fix.

I miss Sharper too, but last year he couldn’t bring it. We didn’t have a lo of choice but to let him go while the letting was good….

No way in hell

TT trades Kampmann to the Vikings. We could offer a Herschel-type trade and he wouldn’t do it.

I just don't see it happening...

He would have to get traded someplace, and then back to us (but the Packers would put so many clauses in the trade so this couldn’t happen). I just can’t see a divisional trade between us two, especially with the game coming up in two weeks when Kampman could share the Packers’ defense schemes and calls, and whoever we traded to them could do the same….

Lower Deck Tickets on 50 yard line behind Vikings bench = $119.00
Parking by the Metrodome = $25.00
Souvenir Soda = $6.50
Being there for 296 = Priceless

Forget about it, Kampman ain't coming here.

especially now during the middle of the season.

by chaosg on Oct 18, 2009 10:22 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

We can't afford Kampman

We need all of our draft choices to get secondary help, a QB, and Pat Williams replacement. Kampman just doesn’t fit in to our real needs.

by lifelongvike on Oct 18, 2009 11:07 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Need someone...

But doubt SERIOUSLY it could/would be Kampman…

Another TT mistake

Once again decisions on the GB team are not good. Kampman excells as a DE so lets switch him to new position where he’s not comfortable and if it does’nt work we will trade him. Man when are they going to show TT the door.
