Two Things I'm Really Impressed With...
1. Just think guys, we are 6-0, and we still haven't really played a complete game from start to finish. Hopefully this scare will wake the team up, especially the defense, and we can put together the full game for Pittsburgh next week and then at Green Bay the week after!
2. The sincerity of the defense after the game was impressive as hell. I listened to Vikings Fanline on KFAN after the game, and in the interviews with both Jared Allen and Kevin Williams, they both sounded pretty depressed with how the 4th quarter transpired. By listening to their words and the tone of their voices, you would've thought that we lost the game (even though we probably should've).
All in all, I am still impressed with the fact that we are 6-0, and all teams need to get lucky once in a while, and as Vikings fans, we all know that luck usually doesn't seem to bounce our way. We may need to thank Brett for bringing a little bit of his magic over to our favorite 11. Now let's go get Pittsburgh!!!

So glad we cut Bobby Wade
With him here, we probably never would’ve seen this emergence of Sidney Rice or had the game ending catch from Greg Kewis!

Sidney Rice
…is proof of how much better Brett Favre is compared to Tarvaris Jackson.

As a true believer in the draft-and-develop approach who didn’t understand the sound and fury over losing out on TJ Houshmandzadeh, I’ll point out:
Houshmandzadeh (32 years old, $40 million contract): 31 catches, 359 yards, 11.6 ypc, 2 tds
Rice (23 years old, $3 million contract): 23 catches, 409 yards, 17.8 ypc, 2 tds
Yes, I’m isolating player stat lines (can’t do that in football) and yes, we’re talking about a 6 game sample, and yes, Rice’s huge game makes it look like a no-brainer at this point (although even before Sunday they were about equal on a per-catch basis), but I really think the Vikings dodged a bullet here, expecially considering they had just committed a big salary to the WR position just a year earlier with Berrian.

I love Rice too..
I’m not on this blog that often. But one of my only other posts on here last year was concerning Rice vs. Wade.. I am glad to see who finally won out.

Jaymar has looked good in the return game
And I was extremely impressed with him during my two days at Vikings Training Camp! He looked like he could be the best WR on the team at camp!

Keeping it real?
Okay, the games have now gotten so interesting, that even Brett can’t look at the end and he has to have Tarvaris tell him they won.
Hopefully, rumors will begin to circulate around the NFL that Favre has made a pact with the devil, and that black magic is actually involved in all the Vikings’ success.
The good news is this team is not growing overconfident and some people on the outside still can’t decide if the team is really good or just lucky. Hopefully, the so-called realists will become more worried about the Patriots or the Saints, and will consider the Vikings a fluke, while the Vikings themselves work on correcting their flaws, and they can make it to the bye week in good shape to heal up.
As always, all the attention should be on the next opponent, in this case the Steelers, and how to prepare for them. If the Vikings can turn Terrible Towels into crying towels, a lot of people are going to get very suspicious though.

Yes, takes some of the pressure off in a way...
No overconfidence or exaltations expected from media winks….True that the W column looks fantastic, but the D on the Vikings know the work to be done yet (a good thing, their heads are not echelons above reality!)…
Reference overconfidence (reality?) Chilly still does not sound like he “gets it” regarding his playcalling….He rationalized his calling the 3 x run and FG versus whatever…I guess if we had gotten the 1st down, he would be a genius…
But somehow this course that Chilly seems to follow/consider his mantra makes about as much sense to me as the Ravens continuing to run to our D strength….and of course we saw their adjustment in the 4th and what it ALMOST brought them!
Anyhooooooo……6-0 Baby!

LOL call me a "so-called realist" then
I am more worried about the Saints. What they did to the late, great Giant defense yesterday was just sick. I can’t imagine us destroying them like that next week, even if we do put a whole game together finally.
I’m not saying we’re not good too. I’m just saying these guys look like the 2007 Patriots right now.
Hopefully they will be more like the 2008 Titans, and will faltered before they steamroll to sueprbowl.

Thanks for an overall positive post
I’m getting sick of all the negativity being thrown around here. I understand and agree that we need to fix some issue, but we are 6-0 and just beat a tough, tough team. We should be really happy about that.

Yes, I agree!
19-0, here we come!

This win was as close to a loss as necessary to remind the defense that we need to keep our foot on other team’s throat the ENTIRE 60 minutes.
A loss would have done the same thing, gave us a reality check. Instead we got a win AND a reality check. It’s a win-win.
Not to mention the fact that this game, the GB game and the games where we played 2nd and 3rd stringers at the end of the game makes our defense look mediocre on paper.
That should give us a bit of an advantage down the road.

Exactly my thinking on it, Bjorno! We got the ‘reset’ without the pain of an L, it gives me a lot of hope for this weekend!
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

I am just shocked at how well Favre is playing. MUCH MUCH better than last year. He’s playing very similar than he did in 2007. Hopefully he can hold up the rest of the year. 12 TD’s and 2 INT and just playing amazing football.

McCaully
I thought it was a mistake when we cut him and I hope it doesnt come back to haunt the vikes. I think they cut him b/c he doesnt play special teams where the other boarderlie DBs do. But he had good talent, decent skills, and big upside potential. The Vikings are lucky it took the ravens a while to figure out winfield wasnt in the game. How is it the announcers didnt figure it out and tell me what the hell was going on? Jerks.

Has Asher Allen been active for a game yet? He may get an opportunity if Antoine is unable to go…

We need Winfield...
Stops the pass AND the run…
I BELIEVE...
On the improbable Vikings win against the Ravens...

Well… I can tell you one thing for certain. Come Madden 11, the Vikings will be in at least 2, and possibly 3, Madden Moments.

Madden isn't that important
I’d much rather see the Vikings in 2 and possibly 3 or 4 playoff games!

Haha Nice!
I love the Madden Moments, they’re almost my favorite part of the game!
