Browsing through Nfl.com website and found Brad Childress Mic'd Up!  Found This Pretty Interesting, and how our head coach seems to loosen up..

However, the video excluded the part that Reports say Chilly told Adrian That Steven or Steve What ever his last name is, was going to miss the last field goal.. But Anyways Here!

OMG

Chilly still makes bad calls…Too conservative..Even tho I have hated Favre all his career, he is the 2nd reason Chilly will get a contract extension.. AP is the 1st….Both, which fell into Chillys lap, has nothing to do with Chillys coaching ability. If Farve did not come to Vikings and AP did not fall to us in draft, Chilly would have been gone last yr, or yr b4….

Dude Your Are one of those "IF's" People are you?

You Could go on with IF"s all day, so why worry about them. I think people like you are still caught up in the past, and hates to see Chilly actually improve from year to year. Thats not call being a fan or supporter so just do something other than bash your head coach… I mean how can you bash someone for winning? The man goes out and coaches us through six straight wins and you people still complain gosh!

As The Play Snaps, One Dream, One Team, One Head Coach will be on top! Will It Be The Vikings?

Credit where credit is due

I think if Chilly wasn’t our coach, we didn’t get Favre. Part of the reason why Favre came over was his friendship with Chilly. Chilly was the one who put so much effort into getting him, another coach probably would not have tried.

AP and BF “fell into Chilly’s lap,” eh?

Well, let’s just talk about BF for now, since it’s more recent and clear cut. If he “fell into Chilly’s lap”, then let’s see what Chilly’s lap had to go through: cultivating the personal connection (even sending the playbook down there months before he was signed, its come out), encourage the very surgery-averse Fare to take that step, selling the opportunity, and then, when Favre said no anyway, Chilly “moved his lap” so Favre could still fall in it the second time, in mid August.

Almost everyone (including many posters here) riduculed Chilly for going back to try again with Favre in mid August. There were lots of talking heads (and posters here) saying it destroyed Chilly’s credibility in the locker room, etc, yadda yadda yadda. He stuck his neck WAY out, he put his job on the line, ofr something he believed in, but few of his critics did. And that is what you want to call “falling in his lap.”

Next I’ll be hearing that PH (Harvin) fell into his lap too? You are gonna totally discount that Chilly went down, met with his parents, etc, and put in his personal judgement about whether it was a risk. I’m guessing you would.

Well said...

In hindsight AP fell to the Vikings, who like the 6 teams drafting ahead of them (an having singed Taylor just one season prior) could have passed on him. Those teams drafting ahead of the Vikings had good cause not to select the players they chose. Oakland and Tampa Bay might regret their picks, but Oakland really couldn’t go in another direction and Tampa had recently invested a high draft choice on running back. Besides, falling to 7 isn’t really a long drop.

As for the play calling from the head coach or coaches

I am actually quite impressed with some of the play calling especially when you have a quarter back that can execute the plays and look at all the options, Take a look at
Mike Mayock ’s Anatomy of plays and how he breaks down the Vickings play calling and the coaches talking with brett ..especially the one with Rice catching the 63 yard pass …. and yes keeping with your post about chilly being mikedup I did think that was prettty cool gave me a little more personal feel for chilly rather than the mono tone press confrences …he actually does have a sense of humor ha… check out the brkdown ..http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-films-anatomy-of-a-play/09000d5d81397162/WK-6-Anatomy-Minnesota-s-mid-game-adjustment

Great Videos

GREAT videos, guys.

I like when Chilly said ‘we need to step on their neck,’ and when he told AD that Baltimore had the heart of a champion, and ’that’s where we need to get to, honestly.’ He’s not as clueless many of us think, eh? I also thought it was interesting that he pulled over the one coach and asked what yardline they needed to keep Hauschka from.

The anatomy of a play was great, too. Loadholt did a great job blocking his guy on both of those.

Thanks for posting, guys.

asked what yardline they needed to keep Hauschka from.

The coach told him the 32 yard line or something. Chilly told the defense to keep them from the 32. If he was smart he would have told them not to let them passed like the 37. Because the defense will only play good enough ball to stop them by the 32. Not anytime sooner. I learned that in psych or soc

standing on a bridge... looking down into the water...

you can make a lot of observations, but you won’t know it all until you wade in.

There is so much more going on with a coach/team then we get to know, but as with everything…
we form our opinions, and many (right or wrong) will stick with them regardless.

Play calling and play execution are inseparable. Play called and route selected/throw timing are key.
Recognizing that the play called and the defense called are incompatible and changing it at the line to something that will work is critical. IF, IF, and IF… it’s why we play the game.

we executed all those runs inside the 20 pretty well and settled for a field goal.

you’ve got to have the killer instinct to put teams away. that’s all on the coach. ask marty.

The coach's goal, as stated, was to get the opposition to burn their timeouts.

So, as far as that goal is considered… he was successful.
Would I have preferred a first down? Yes. A Touchdown? Hell, Yes.

Did it make for a nerve-wracking, heartburn inducing WIN? yes, yes, and yes.

Good to see

I’ve been one of Chilly’s tougher critics since he cut Marcus Robinson and then acted like an arrogant ass about it afterwards, year one. That said, it’s good to hear/see behind the scenes stuff like this. It helps me see where his head is at, and helps me appreciate more of what his job entails.

I still don’t think think I’d extend his contract right now, but lets see how he handles the rest of the season and patches holes as marquee players get hurt. Honestly I think Norv Turner could pilot this team to the Super Bowl with all the talent they have, but thinking it and doing it are different things. If Chilly does it… I’ll shut up…. or at least change my signature.

p.s.

I would give my left nut for that SUV in the picture to have been “miked up” too!

I always wondered what was said on that drive from the airport. Each of them talking about how they expected the rest of the world (and team) to react, and how to handle it, I’m guessing. It would be fascinating to know how they expected Favre’s reception to go down.

Play calling

Many say Farve is calling the playes but thats just not the case.

Favre said this week that he could count "on one hand" the times he’s strayed from a play call this season.

"It’s pretty much what they are giving me," Favre said. "… Darrell and Brad have increased [my freedom] a little bit, [but] I think part of it is because the scheme is playing so well. If I had to go by percentages, just in all the games, there have been only a few times … where I have done something that we have not talked about."

Seems from watching

that plays may have a few variations within them. Favre may call a play one way, get to the line and change to a variation after he reads the D. Seems logical, anyway. He has appeared to make numerous adjustments at the line.

By 'call'

I mean ‘deliver the play in the huddle’ .

by jshep on Oct 22, 2009 4:58 PM CDT up reply actions

Favre undoubtably has input in position meetings and game planning unmatched by recent Vikings quarterbacks. I think the key to your quote is: “…where I have done something that we have not talked about.” He clearly isn’t winging it on the field.

You know, the problem with these “mic’ed up” series is that they know they have a microphone on them, so they will act and say things that they wouldn’t on any given sunday.

It would be much cooler if they had a way to do it without the players/coaches knowledge so we could see who they really are.

by Bjorno on Oct 22, 2009 1:55 PM CDT reply actions

Actually, he said “I wanted to say ‘No shit Sherlock’.” . He was too afraid of Chilly to say it to his face.
