Antoine Winfield has been officially listed by the Vikings as doubtful for Sunday's game, but obviously, we've seen nothing to indicate that there's any chance of him playing. So count him out for Sunday. Percy Harvin, meanwhile, is questionable after reinjuring his shoulder last week.

Update: Here's the full injury report. Husain Abudllah and Madieu Williams are questionable -- certainly a banged-up secondary this week. Jaymar Johnson will continue returning punts due to Darius Reynaud being doubtful once again.

Just saw an article at the strib that says that we are either going to have Sapp or Paymah cover for the loss of Winfield.

I am concerned that in a league that has injuries rather often, that we are that shallow at the CB position that we are actually considering starting Paymah again.

There really aren’t that many quality corners. Most teams don’t have 2 really good ones to start. It’ll be interesting to see who is active Sunday.

Yes, but I would rather see Jared Allen lining up in place of Winfield than to see Paymah give up the game.

Yea, they almost have to let benny play CB. I would activate Asher and put him at the nickle. Paymah is not a good corner from what I’ve seen. Even when he got garbage mins before the ravens game he gave up a couple big plays. They shouldn’t have cut McCaully.

I wonder if Chilly is just playing games with Dick Lebeau saying Paymah is in over moving Sapp out side and activating Allen…oh wait. I just heard it in my head….never mind ;) Chilly isn’t THAT smart.

Baptism by fire.........A.Allen @ Pittsburgh Steelers.

I can’t think of a better match-up for a rookie CB to make his debut….lol

I seen Allens highlight video, and he seems to be a sure tackler, but IDK about his cover skills? The other 10 guys will need to step-up and help the rookie out this week.

He was touted as one of the better man-to-man coverage guys in this years draft.

Too bad we play mostly zone.

by Bjorno on Oct 24, 2009 1:46 AM CDT up reply actions

I think we'll be fine

If he can play man to man, then he can play zone. :~)

Hopefully.

There is a little more to it, but I think his transition should be rather smooth.

I got a gut feeling they all play...

Winfield, Harvin, Allen…

I BELIEVE...

On the improbable Vikings win against the Ravens...

I say sit him.

We are going to need him more against the Packers than we do against the Steelers. Not a knock on the Steelers, but GB has a more potent passing attack even though the Steelers are ranked higher.

by Bjorno on Oct 24, 2009 1:28 PM CDT up reply actions

I think they should sit him too

but these guys like to have their “Consecutive Start” stats. B.Favre didn’t actually play all 275 games he’s given credit for, but he started ’em all.

I wish good players didn’t care about that kind of stuff. I mean, you have to be smart enough to know when your being on the field is a detriment rather than a benefit, and most don’t even think about it.
