"A month? No, no. That's too long. I'm day-to-day. If there's a chance for me to get out there Sunday, I will be out there."
There you have it -- Antoine Winfield disputing a report from ESPN's Chris Mortensen that he will miss four to six weeks with a foot injury.

Finally some good news!
Cheer up Purple! Yesterday’s loss (no matter how you see the origin of it) will only make us a better team! Did you SEE AP after his trucking? Favre after the dagger TD return? JA after the game? Boys and girls we are fielding a VERY hungry 6-1 team pissed off at anything that breathes and isn’t purple and itching for fight in Lambeau. Cry havok, and loose the purple people eaters of war!

6 weeks
ESPN First Take reported about 6 weeks. I don’t know whether that was an estimate of when he’d play again or when he’d be 100% again, though.

Winfield
I say let him sit, we need him in GB but theres no sense of rushing him before the bye. we need him much more later on than now. i love this dude cuz he plays harder than anyone but hopefully he plays it smart and takes care of his foot. go vikes!

As much as we need him out there
“A month? “No, no. That’s too long. I’m day-to-day”.
It would be ashame to put him out there too early, and take the chance of futher injury, and possibly his season or worse. Let it heal to 100%, then threapy to help it get stronger. Then a little conditioning to get back into good shape. Then play with a Vikings team that needs you badly for the play-off’s. It also gives some other players a feel, for what’s expected of them, mentally, and physically. Plus it helps the coaching staff get a better feel for the team and secondary players.
We all would like in see Antoine Winfield back in the line-up against the Packers. But what is more important. A (questionable) healthy Vikings team playing the Packers in the eighth game of the season? Or a healthy team going into the play-offs?
Lets see if the back-up players can get better week to week. With a bye week coming up, I see no rush needed.

I agree....
Wait tell he is 100% healthy and ready to play… We need him for the playoffs..

I couldn’t disagree more. If he can play, let him play. This is the Packers, which is a divisional opponent, and have very ugly green and yellow colors. We don’t need Winfield but he will surly help against green bay’s one dimensional attack. After the Packers game, winfield has a week off for the bye and then we got the rams and the seahawks. He can take the next 3 weeks off….after the packers game.

Grant
has the sixth highest yards in the league right now and that is with a bye week come and gone…its not as one dimensional as you think. He averaged 5 yds a carry in the last game against the big tough viking run D.

look at the teams that they’ve played, then look at his results against the Vikings on the October 5th game.

+10
Turf toe can take longer than this to heal and if it doesn’t fully heal, it will recur and we’ll be missing him just when we need him most.
Winny, get well soon, but get well. :)
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!

If he can play, let him play
As good as Pittsburgh’s pass offense is, I’m more fearful of what Rodgers, Driver, and Jennings will do to our secondary if Winfield isn’t playing. I say, field the best team you can each week and let the chips fall where they may.

I'm with you. If he can play, then let him play.
It’s obvious the Vikings need him. They can’t have a bunch of missed tackles and expect to win @Lambeau. After that, he can have the next 2-weeks off for all I care. But we need his ass this week.
Go Vikes!
