Tripping call...
So, we all know the one that was called (and that cost us the game). New photojournalistic evidence reveals a better example of what tripping looks like in the NFL. Desperate, flailing, defeated, laying on one's back, completely out of the play, having been run over by a freight train, and having nothing left to do but throw up one's legs, etc. As the Steelers will be if we have the fortune of playing them again when it really counts.

I’d actually love to meet the Steelers in Feb. It would be a great story for the NFL. Hell, we could even re-instate the ‘75 tug-of-war. In all seriousness, the Steelers are the team I respect most in the NFL (besides ours, of course, which is more a matter of love than respect) and think our fans have a ton to learn from the Steelers dedicated fan base. Remember Mike Tice going before the MN media, eviscerating our fans for selling off tickets to people who’d driven in from Pitt that bloody Sunday? That day, our home field was turned into a Steeler Thunderdome. All that said, I think we’re the stronger team and believe that we’d have the advantage on a neutral field.

Point is...
and I have been seeing this way too much. Meaningless, stupipid, iffy, and dare I say penalty calls that were not penalties at all!
This is happening all over not just the Vikings. I have seen beautiful eforts by a corners or safety called as pass interference. D-linemen with full momentum and even trying to steer off knowing they were going to hit the QB get called.
Game is on the line. Refs need to be told this is the time you need to have an absolute.
The trippping turned the course but you have to admit it was just plain bad luck that the offensive gave Pitt 2 TD’s at the end. Take those flukes away and the Vikes win (Favre’sfumble and Chesters deflection.
Lot of would have, should , could haves. If we had stayed on the ground, killed the clock and settled for 2 FG’s-we win. That didn’t happen. We played like Warriers play and got stabbed from behind in the battle.
Maybe better to get this off our back, know we can play with the Super Bowl Champs and get on with business. We don’t have to have the pressure of remaining undefeated each week.
One thing I admire about the Steelers, they don’t let bad luck get to them. Just let it go. It is the 3 or 4 games after the season you worry about being undefeated.
We’ll get back on track and I’m sure the Purple will want to blow the Pack out prior to a bye week.

"Get on with business", good point Citrus.
I had my say…or two…or three, right after the game because I was so infuriated. But I settled down and moved on as well. The focus is now on a game we know we can win and should win. The Vikings are a better team than the Packers.

Believe me...
when I say that I’m over the tripping call. I was over it the very next day, as I had stated in another post about moving on and concentrating on our division rival.
I just thought it was interesting how AC compared the trip that was called against us to the attempted trip in the play above…or was Gay just attempting to protect himself after being run over by AD.
I can also understand our friendly steeler trolls’ opinion of our sitiuation and our feelings about that call, but I hope that I never wander over to their blog after a game and find either of them complaining about a call that went against them. But then that would never happen right?
I’m with you Norse Force, wasn’t trying to dredge up yet another tired complaint, but to add a little humor to the conversation. Not to mention, I was basically looking for an excuse to post that picture.

Fans will complain
It is the good/realistic ones that realize Sh— happens. Did our team play bad? Did they get wiped off the map? Did we have opportunities to win?
We did. Fate did not fall in our favor and it is disappointing. No one was as mad as I. Are we gonna complain if we lose 3 or 4 games. Probobly. But that is a record that shows great promise for a team and a lot better than what we have grumbled about the last few years.
I would be POed if we went 13-3 and lost in the 1st round.
But a 6-1 record would have thrilled us if someone told us that last Spring.
Skol , my friends. Better days are coming.
