Anyone here been to Lambeau?
Hey guys, I'm going to Lambeau for the first time ever this weekend. My father finally decided this would be a great weekend to make his pilgrimage there, so we decided to get some (overpriced) tickets. Has anyone been there before and could offer up some tips to help make the trip even more enjoyable? And has anyone here worn a Vikings jersey there? I'm going to be wearing my purple #4 jersey of course, so I'm expecting to hear tons of shit from all the drunken 'Sconies... Thanks guys and of course:
SKOL VIKINGS!!!
Edit: Oh and by tips, I meant things to do in Green Bay the day and night before. Just wondering where some of the fun spots were...

You must not be a Packer fan then...
considering how little class you display.

Ya pansy?
Just wondering what the hostile crowds were like, settle down bro. And if you Packer fans have so much class, why:
a) do they moon opposing teams?
b) did one drunken ’Sconie stab a Vikes fan after the MNF game in Minneapolis?
Lower Deck Tickets on 50 yard line behind Vikings bench = $119.00
Parking by the Metrodome = $25.00
Souvenir Soda = $6.50
Being there for 296 = Priceless

I've been to Lambeau,
but the last time I was there, they were playing the Bears and Dick Butkus was playing, so I doubt any advice I have would be useful to you. :)

Twice
I went to the Vikings-Packers games at Lambeau in 1999 and 2000. Both ended with Favre-fueled last-second victories; 2000 was the Monday night game where Antonio Freeman caught the walk-off TD lying flat on his back.
Anyhow, to answer your question, I wore plenty of purple to both games,
which I attended with several Packer fan buddies from college. While I caught a ton of good-natured flak I didn’t have to put up with any serious assholery. Of course, none of the Viking fans there were wearing purple # 4 Favre jerseys, either.
The neatest things about Lambeau, especially at the Monday night game, were the fiths of liquor—Jagermeister, Jack Daniels, various kinds of schnappes—being passed around the crowd. Every so often, I would be nudged by the Packer fans behind me or beside me, and offered a bottle. Whose bottles they were I have no idea. I would imagine bringing your own booze in to Lambeau became a lot more difficult after 2001. Damn terrorists.
Between the random liquor bottles, the four or five beers I brought in to the game under all my clothes, and the uncounted beers I drank at The Bar before kickoff, my memories of the 2000 Monday night OT game are a little fuzzy in places. I remember Freeman’s TD catch on his back, as it happened about thirty rows right in front of me, but it wasn’t til I got home the next day that I clearly saw what had happened. Good times!

Once was enough for me.
I usually fly up from Florida once a year and take in a game with family. Decided to drive over and go to a Sunday night Green Bay game back in 2006 and watch Travaris in his first game and what was supposed to be Favre’s last one (yeah, right). 36 degrees and light rain the whole night.
The ONLY thing I was impressed with was the stadium and the history. I did the tour and recommend it.
Fans were for the most part pretty good (we had on our colors) except after the game when an occasional young punk would make a stupid comment on the way out. Both teams totally sucked in that game so it was easy to laugh them off.
I never felt threatened if that’s what your worried about (it was just me and my girlfriend). Then again it was close to a freezing rain and I wasn’t wearing a purple #4 Favre jersey either. I’m sure your going to get shit from someone before it’s over!
Now…as far as things to do to make your trip more in enjoyable? Really…in GB?? Well, good luck. Cant help you there. I was pretty shocked that a town like that could even have a stadium in it. Maybe drive on the outskirts of town, which won’t be very far, and try some cow tipping. Or load up on cheese and different flavored Brats, which is what we did – pretty lame. Oh, and we ate at Brett Favre’s steak house next to the stadium – that was pretty good.
Good luck over there.

I have been about a dozen times
pretty bummed that I can’t be at this one.
as with any stadium there will be a couple of people that annoy the hell out of you but for the most part people don’t give you any more shit than your packer buddy would. I have never initiateda war of words with anyone but if they give you shit they pretty much expect to get it back.
I don’t know that I would drink too much because 1) you will want to remember this forever (I too have had to watch the next day to know what happened at games) 2) while the bathroom situation is much better than pre-remodel they still take forever to get thru (at times when you would want to go)
I usually bring the horn to play after the vikes do good but this game is going to be different there is a contingent of cheeseheads that have HATE for #4 and there are actually some that can see that he was chased out of town and don’t really like the head honcho TT.
As far things to do before the game there are bars/tailgate parties on either side on the west side (shopko area) they are a little closer than on the east side(but there are more choices on the east side)
If you are staying in the area I am guessing your hotel will have better advice as to what to do the day/night before.
have a great time you are lucky this games has the makings of being great.
I promise there are very few feelings better than strutiing out of lamb(l)eau with a win.

There will be thousands of Puple #4 Jerseys at the Game!
I will be there with my #4 Purple Jersey!
Hopefully half of the stadium will be in Purple!

This is exactly why...
I love that SBNation doesn’t allow you to edit your posts. At least you saved some face and beat anyone else to pointing out the fail.

I would guess that there will be more security than usual
I can get milwaukee radio and they have spents hours and hours on several stations to debate how Brett should be greeted and also Deanna. There is a huge contingent of hatred. Lots and lots of people hoping for injury. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but a remarkable amount of hate for the South. Lots of mocking of accents, calling Deanna “Dede,” referring to his mother as “Meemaw.”
And I’m not just talking about callers. The sports director of the Fox affiliate TV station, the ESPN radio station which is a core of hatred, the whiny Wilde woman who was fired from the Madison paper. Ex-Packer Gary Ellerson has called for injuring Favre. Even the mayor of GB is in on it, trying to get the Slacker fans not to be morons.
Teddy Thompson doesn’t want the typical fan shown on TV or even worse having a bunch of beer bottles thrown at Deanna and the family’s vehicle or something like that.

the more I think about it
I hope that the packer fans do indeed make complete asses out of themselves…..thereby by proving to the world that they are as pathetic as I have known they are for years now.
I still am surprised at the number of “fans” that are hoping and praying and bragging about how he (there former god) is going to get hurt and end his career on the field being hauled off in an ambulance……I am willing to wager with anyone that the philly fans booing santa will be childs play compared to the cheers that would come out of lam(e)beau if something lilke that does happen

Been there lots of times
But I don’t think I can give you any help on how wearing a purple jersey would be. Most Packers fans are pretty nice, though there are always bad apples. This one might be a little different though, the whole Favre thing has pushed some inot the deep end emotionally, I think lots of them still have anger and frustration over what went down, and some of them might have had that buildign for over a year, with this being the very first opportunity to let it all out. So, I would be worried abou the more unstable (and/or drunk) ones lashing out at you if you are wearinga purple jersey. Especially a #4 purple jersey. Especially if Vikings are winning & Favre is playing well. Yes, I would be nervous …

Been there a few times.
But never for a Viking game, although I still wore my purple. That is a whole different kind of fan harrassment. I did see the Vikes kick the Pack’s ass in Milwaukee once. Packer fans at Green Bay are generally good. A lot better than the douche bags down in Chicago.

I've never been there before,
but if you dress warm and mind your manners, I’m sure you’ll be fine!
Go Vikes!

Take the buss
Packer Stadium is great on a beautiful fall day. Best outside stadium in the country. Nothing better except taking the buss from the motel to the game. Plenty of great food and beer and the fans are typical midwest friendly. They love there team just like you love yours. However I have to think that this is going to be one wired crowd thinking revenge. Just stand proud.
If you get a chance thank their GM for me and all of Viking land.

Welcome To The Cradle Of The NFL
I have been going to games at Lambeau for the past 26 years and can tell you it is the friendliest stadium in the NFL for a fan of an opposing team. I also like to travel to see my team play away games. I am sure you will be treated better than we are when we come to that dump your ownership calls a professional sports area. But ya only pay $250 for a season ticket so it is hard to complain. I am sure you will get a few words tossed at you but if you are willing to deal with it, you’ll be fine. Thank that moron TT if you see him……………I am hoping he is looking for a job next year.
By the way, loss #2 is coming Sunday.
GO PACKERS!!!

I see at the very least another year for Mr. Mumbles, Teddy T.
Probably 2 or more though.
