Fran hating on Favre again............
on national radio on the Fox Radio (Myers & Hartman show). I couldn't believe Fran Tarkenton is hating on Favre hours before the Vikings vs Packers match up. Can't he just accept facts that Brett Favre makes the 2009 Minnesota Vikings a better team, and gives his team a better chance to win than the other 2 QBs on the Roster.
I have pulled over in Hudson, WI at a Buffalo Wild Wings, to share my disgust of a bitter old man, that just can't shut the hell up.
He went as far as saying that if the Vikings had Rodgers that the Vikings would crush the Packers even more.
My prediction of the game is Vikings 45 & Packers 3, with Favre throwing at least 3 TDs!
REVENGE Part 1 will be REALIZED and I will have a front row seat at the Metrodome!
GO VIKINGS!

Bitter old man...
Glad I’m not alone in wanting Fran to shut his trap! He’s frustrating me more now than he did when he would “scramble” and get sacked for a 20 yard loss.

Is a bit sad yes...
Has a right to speak his mind, but some of it seems a bit Boitche to me? My take is to be happy on what you accomplish and be happy for whatever others may accomplish….Live and let live so to speak….I truly hope the GB Packers will not be TOO upset after this game….They always have another chance this year in Version 1.1 of this matchup! SKOL and GOOOOOO Vikings!!!!!!
I would rather be IN the Arena than watching from the stands...That is my life!

I think it's curious...
That it took Favre to break Fran out of the cone of silence…
That, and hawking his own book.
Loved Fran when he was our QB… but he walked away from the Vikings a LOOOOOOONG time ago.
He will forever have a place in my Vikings memories… but he doesn’t really have a voice for the vikes anymore.
…the press decided to go turning over rocks to get his ‘opinion’, that’s all.
I BELIEVE...

He's right in saying they'd be better off with Rodgers
That much you have to concede. And if they actually win 45-3 I’ll buy you a fuckin’ Ostrich

86-73 - Giants Series Record: 27-18-5, 19-7 at home.
Adopted Giant: Daryl "Dealio" Maday - Not reassigned after all. Still a mediocre AA pitcher.

Fran the little Bitch
I agree with you all, I bled Purple cheering him on year after year, and he couldn’t get it done. I am sure it is a sore point in his memories, especially when he had to be around other retired NFL players who were wearing their Superbowl rings. He should stick to his rip-off scam Infomertials, and shut the fuck up. Punk has sour grapes syndrome.
Now, um…Gonna go post something, wish this Norseman thing had a chat room!

ROCK ON INTERVIEW!
I just listened to that interview and I didn’t hear sour grapes… I heard an honest opinion from a man who isn’t snookered by the ‘official view’ of what happened. If he was a ‘bitter old man’, he’d be angry at the Cowboys being called, “Americas Team”, but instead he had nothing but praise for their organization.
Sir Francis is dead-on accurate. He’s not dissing the Vikings, he knows the Vikings are taking advantage of the situation for the Vikings benefit… but he’s not mincing words on Favre, and not drinking the Favre-aide. Good on Fran.

He's right
Rodgers is better. But we don’t have Rodgers so what’s the point in saying it? It’s not like the Vikings picked Favre over Rodgers. I don’t understand the point he’s trying to make.

Fran's Point
He was talking like an old-timer who wasn’t making a bazillion bucks for showing up in cleats, an old-timer who still believes that things like loyalty are important. He makes no bones about it; he doesn’t like Favre because of the loyalty issue and he respects not only opponents but the FANS and their feelings.
I read some commentaries over on APC blog and understand the difficulty and pain that a lot of them are still dealing with, and it’s rough. I know how we’d feel if we lost, say, AP to the Bears and something similar was happening, but in their case, it’s the QB they grew up with. For some of them, Favre was QB for the Packers before they were born! It’s like losing an institution.
Tark understands that, and while he stands with the Vikings, always, he doesn’t like Favre’s decision. And I respect his opinion on the matter.
For myself, I also consider why Favre left and I can understand that too. It’s not a simple situation, but at the end of the day, the Beloved Purple benefits the most and that’s my bottom line; whatever is best for the Vikings.

My problem is...
Fran hasn’t said ‘boo’ about his old franchise for many years… and now that he has ‘something to sell’ and the pressers coming after him for comment on Favre, he becomes the defacto ‘voice of the Vikings’.
He’s entitled to his opinion… I just don’t like the impression that he’s been around sharing his opinions on all of the Vikings moves for the last 30 years. He hasn’t. He walked away and didn’t stay involved like say… a Bart Starr, did.
I think he would have been classier if he had ‘no comment’ like he did for 30 years.
I BELIEVE...

Media Hype
The media is just paying attention to him for the first time in years, it’s not like this is the first time he’s talked or given interviews. Maybe being silent would have been the classier thing to do, and to be honest, while I understand his point, I also look at from Favre’s perspective and I understand why Favre did what he did. Both perspectives have merit, neither of them would be necessary if GB’s management had been just a little bit more sensitive to the situation they created. If anyone’s truly at fault over this, it falls at the feet of GB’s management, and everyone else has just been reacting to that and trying to make the best of a bad situation.
What I didn’t expect is how quick Vikings fans are to turn on Tarkenton for expressing his valid opinion on the situation, and attribute it to the meanest possible motivations they can identify with. Amazing how much weight a 4-0 record carries, winning really is everything.

DC, my point is… Fran ‘disappeared’ for 30 years. Only to be heard when Favre comes to town (coincidentally, when he has a book to sell). No doubt he would have had a comment this year if TJack were starting at QB, too.
He didn’t get involved/comment because he cares about the Vikings (if he did, we’d have had his commentary over the last 30 years), he commented now for self-promoting reasons.
My complaint isn’t over the content of his comment, it’s with his ‘self-serving’ character (at this time).
I will always love Fran for the days he lead my football team… I wish he had stayed connected to this team, I really do! I can even remember asking my Dad why Fran wasn’t around, staying involved, commenting on the team, etc. He just plain ‘disappeared’. This Favre experiment is a big deal. Arguably, Fran had no comment before this ‘big deal’… but I just don’t buy it… there have been many proud and stinky moments over the last 30 years that Fran could have chimed in on. just my $2.
I BELIEVE...

Fran?
I don’t recall specifics, but my recollection is that Fran has been sort of whiny in the past on other topics as well. I enjoyed watching him play — he was fun to watch. But I have vague nbegative impressions of his post-retirement days.
Favre has done nothing to deserve the venom that others are spewing. He got railroaded into announcing a retirement after one of his best years, realized he regretted his decision and tried to come back. Everything after that was really out of his hands — most of it was either Packers mgt or the media.
I understand the sentiment that really dislikes having Favre be our QB now — if we win the SB, it may feel cheaper or tainted to some — almost as if we “bought” it instead of winning it. But that doesn’t justify the venom directed at Favre. He is guilty of being honest and of responding to questions when asked. It’s not like he was killing dogs or something…..
Fran should sit this one out. It does nothing but cast him in a negative light. It’s not like someone is PAYING him to be an ass — like Rodney Harrison or something.

He wants us to have Rodgers instead? That is his point?
Heck, since we’re already in la-la land anyway, why not go all out and get Peyton, forget Rodgers.
No, I think Fran’s real point is that Favre is not as great another QB, one that he didn’t name. Himself. He’s jealous of the attention Favre is getting. But of course he can’t say so directly, so he uses someone else (Rodgers) in place of himself.
Sad.

poor Fran
Fran comes from a different era. The money he made compared to what they make today is ridiculous. Back in the day teams stayed together longer. Loyality is not what it used to be. Ask any player in the NFL today and they will say its a business. Fran can diss Favre all he wants but players come and go every year and most of them go because of greed. (Show me the money) Favre doesn’t need the money. Birk could have stayed, he’s a hometown guy and he would have made the Vikes an even better team. Where is his loyality? If Favre brings a ring to the Vikes poor old Fran’s gonna have a heart attack .

Had Fran been in Favre's shoes...
and could still play at the level Favre is, I seriously doubt he would walk away from football, as opposed to continue playing for the dreaded ‘enemy’. Pro sports is a career in every sense of the word. Just like in poker, Favre would have been leaving alot of money and the furthering his legacy and stats ‘on the table’ if he stayed ‘loyal’. Favre may not need the $, but he does good things with part of it. I loved watching Fran back in the day, but this shows that you don’t really know a person til they open their mouth.

Judging
I suppose you can judge them by what they say, but in my experience, there’s not really much accuracy in that. I prefer to judge them by their deeds, actions speak truer than words, ever time.

OK, then
I prefer to judge them by their deeds, actions speak truer than words, ever time.
The action of coming out of nowhere(hermit) again and again to bad mouth a guy who is a markedly better player than Fran over their careers is a judgeable action. There have been alot worse things players have done that actually hurt the image of the league that Mr. tark was never bothered by enough to speak out against ( Plaxico’s gun incident for one). I’m not judging, I’m saying he was never an out front personality that felt you got to know …
I disagree w/ the actions vs. words statement. Many people have done much destructive work w/ their words w/o lifting a finger. Out of the mouth – the heart speaks. .02

Unfortunately -
Obama snuck in and stole it. I hope Fran can enjoy and appreciate a Vikings Division,Conference, and SB win should they transpire under a former enemy.
