Avoiding the Trap Game

Ladies and gentlemen,

We all feel warm and fuzzy about last night's win, but let's be legit here - the toughest part of our schedule lies ahead, and many are already talking about BAL and PIT.

Hmmmmmm....

There is some busy in the Arch town that needs to be settled first.

The last FOUR times MINN has played STL, MINN has been many odds' FAVORITE.  Let's take a look at the last four final scores, shall we?

  1. December 31, 2006 - St. Louis 41, Minnesota 21
  2. November 30, 2003 - St. Louis 48, Minnesota 17
  3. December 10, 2000 - St. Louis 40, Minnesota 29
  4. January 16, 2000 (Playoff Game) - St. Louis 49, Minnesota 37

Obviously both teams have changed a lot through the years, but there's something to be said about putting up 40+ on a team every time you play them.  Say what you will--there is a PSYCHOLOGY at play here.

Yes, we have Favre, Peterson, Taylor, Allen, Harvin, and all the rest.

Before, we had Moss, Carter, Smith, McDaniel, Randle, etc.

THIS IS NOT A GIMME - PLEASE Brad make sure you prepare this team to go in there and DOMINATE.  That Rams team will be starving for a win!!!

I am SICK and TIRED of losing to this team

I’d love for Brad to show some older film of how they’ve dominated the Vikings to give them some blood-thirsty anger out there in STL

St Louis

Is now a mere shadow of those teams…..We play Viking ball, should be no problem.

Ah, the obligatory “trap game” thread. It was only a matter of time.

Still nice followthrough to at least give those scores. Although I don’t believe you that betting odds were for Vikings in all those games. Not a nice followthrough, if you just made that up out of whole cloth.

What I said was...

MINN has been many odds’ FAVORITE, not all. However, you’re right, in some of those games, the oddsmakers had STL anywhere from 3-7.

We had a good team to put on the field in 3 of those 4 games, and, because of the embarrassment over the last few years, that’s always gotten me fired up as a fan…

Honestly, I think this will be the first time Favre goes 5-0.

I watched the whole Niners-Rams game...

and am not in the least bit worried. Our LB’s will have a field day!

Go Nevada Wolf Pack!

On paper, I agree 100%

I just hope the Vikings have learned to maintain their high level of energy. They scared me a bit @ CLE and DET

Their crappy quarterback is hurt, their crappier quarterback is Kyle “I’d probably be a better” Boller, their running back hasn’t ran for a touchdown yet this year, their #1 receiver just got put on IR, and their #1 draft pick has a bum knee that will most likely keep him out.

Detroit was a “trap” game. This is not.

Mark it down… Minnesota by at least 2 touchdowns.

Does that include the PATs?

14 points is likely a good estimate for the margin of victory. So long as the Vikings prepare for this game and don’t look ahead it will be an easy victory. If the Vikings start seriously looking ahead this will be close. I think reality will be in the middle – that is a strong win but not quite a blow-out.

You mean the same kyle boller who put up 3 TD passes against the vikes the last time we played against him 4 or 5 years ago?

There are no gimmes in the NFL.

We are the vikings.......resistance is futile.

Nice to see...

…I’m not the only one suffering from Vikings disappointment paranoia

Of course there aren’t. I just find it amusing that everybody is so tentative and timid. Am I really the only one who is willing to say that we’re going to hand it to StL?

And the Vikings defense isn’t better now than it was 5 years ago or anything. I’ll be over here in this room while you get nervous about Kyle Boller.

No you are not

I won’t bet my life on it (wouldn’t do that for anything), but … come on.

’Course I would (did) say the same thing about Detroit, and that looked like I might be sticking my foot in my mouth for a while.

hehe...

we are Minnesota Vikings fans!
we’ve got that nordic trait of tempering our enthusiasm!

Yeah, we want to believe the Vikes are going to stomp on the Rams, but there’s a part of us that needs to hold back on the enthusiasm… just in case they lose.

GO VIKES!!

I BELIEVE...

Too true

I’m actually already getting nervous about how excited I should let myself get if the Vikings make a playoff drive… you know… should they get to the the NFC championship game…

{ eyes start to tear up, looks at the ground and starts kicking at the dirt }

You see…. it’s just that… I’ve been hurt so many times before…

{ chokes something back }

I’m sorry!..

{ bursts into tears and runs away }

lol

i told myself i wasn’t going to cry again!!

I piss people off on a fairly regular basis. I cherish my right to speak my mind, whether I sound like an uneducated savage or not. I've never been accused of keeping what I think a secret, nor will I ever. Don't like it? I don't care.
