FYI

Did everybody realize when we got a really NFL QB our receiver production has gotten better. This is what Favre will bring to our team. Now we have two QB waiting in the wings(Rosenfeld&tjack). May the best man whom could take advantage of this situation win. Future of viking Football is very good. If we can capitalize. IMO Rosenfeld will win. I just want to know what everybody is thinking. One more question. If Favre play well win the Superbowl or not  do would you like Favre back for one more run.

I’d like to think that if the Vikes happened to win the Super Bowl this year, Favre would finally ride off into the proverbial sunset.

If they dont….. its too early for me to say.

I'd say the fact that despite his big contract

the fact that Rosenfells is 3rd string speaks volumes.

Unless

They are hoping to get Jackson in some games to “shop” him around this year. More exposure will either improve him or make him potential trade bait.

3 straight Super Bowl Championships, unprecedented!

I would love to see it

Favre brought excitement to football in minnesta. It has been a long time since we seen vikming offense working this smooth. 1999

If the Vikes win the superbowl Favre will retire for real. 100% guaranteed.

i really hate talking abou this, because of jinxing things, but ...

… Favre may have the Elway example in mind. He played another year, got another SB

by puddnhead on Oct 8, 2009 5:33 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Except it's Favre

He’s retired for real at least 3 times now. I wouldn’t put a 100% guarantee on that one.

But the reason he keeps coming back is because he wants another superbowl. If he gets it he’s done. I’m standing by the 100% guarantee.

i don't even think Tarvaris will be able to learn from favre

they play the game soooo much differently that if Jackson tried to use whatever he learned from him then he’ll force things too much and commit more mistakes…i think he should just be himself, relaxed and just go have fun…thats the one thing favre should be able to teach him is to relax and have fun.

Haha

I don’t know man, I think Favre and Jackson already play a lot a like. Favre likes to throw from crazy postures and so does Jackson (the jump pass is my personal favorite). They both do things your not taught to do, they just work for Favre, but not so much for Jackson.

On a serious note, Jackson won’t be your QB of the future. It will be Sage.

by packallday555 on Oct 9, 2009 12:36 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I disagree.

Surprising, huh? Sage has been a backup this whole time for a reason and he isn’t getting any younger while TJ has improved every season he’s been in the league.

by KC612 on Oct 9, 2009 8:32 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

You do know that Sage didn't beat out TJack for the back up QB despite

the much larger contract and Tavaris getting hurt in TC right? Sage is the 3rd stringer for a reason. and that reason is he is not as good as TJack.

To be honest, I am starting to think it will be neither.

Tjack has to make BIG strides this season if he expects another opportunity other than mop-up time or if Favre goes down. I think we are more likely to make another off-season move, though I don’t think it will succeed.

I mean, the last two QBs Chilly hand-selected before the Grey Fox haven’t panned out, so why should the fourth? I mean, choosing Brett Favre was easy, choosing between a bunch of unprovens is a whole nother story.

by Bjorno on Oct 9, 2009 11:31 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree with you. It will be neither so the question becomes who do they get if Favre is done? Looking at the season so far, some possibly available QBs may be: Pennington, Quinn, V. Young, McNabb(?) and Campbell. I once thought Carson Palmer but I don’t think they will get rid of him now. Of that group we know Chilly is in love with McNabb so the question becomes are they sold on Kolb as their future?

by PurpleJesus on Oct 10, 2009 12:43 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think they were honestly looking for a replacement for McNabb, god knows why. I mean, there was a lot of talk of Vick taking over the reins, which I say is crazy.

I’ll take McNabb any day.

Personally, I think the move will be made through the draft. As much as I like the idea of Philly getting rid of McNabb, I don’t think we would get that lucky. We are more likely going to get a hold of one of the later first round QB’s like Tebow. I am not the biggest fan of a guy who has a run-first attitude as he seems to have, but he is probably the only guy worth getting at pick #32. :)

I like that line of thinking!

In February, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf was asked whether he had an interest in Brett Favre playing quarterback for the Vikings in 2009.

Said Wilf at the time: “No way.”

On Wednesday, Wilf was asked whether he has an interest in Favre playing quarterback for the Vikings in 2010.

Said Wilf, essentially: “Way.”

“I would love him to; why not?” Wilf said, per the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “That’s what we signed him up for.”

Favre signed a two-year deal in August. His base salary for 2009 is $12 million, and his base salary for 2010 will be $13 million.

At the time, however, no one believed that the second year of the deal was real.

Then again, no one realized that the folks at Riddell had made for Favre a magic helmet that makes its wearer perform 15 years younger than he looks when he takes it off.

Damn!
“Then again, no one realized that the folks at Riddell had made for Favre a magic helmet that makes its wearer perform 15 years younger than he looks when he takes it off.”

If only they’d made the helmet work when it was still ON, then we’d REALLY be seeing something, I bet his wife is pretty happy though.

Maybe they can figure out something for Tjack?

by Bjorno on Oct 9, 2009 3:26 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

The 1st line of this thread - reminded me of

reminded me of when Favre wanted GB to get Randy Moss into the receiving corp there. I’d love to see the aerial assault w/ him in the mix alongside Farvin!! Aaahh, that would be something to behold …
