Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

Despite the complete lack of enthusiasm from Thom Brennaman and Troy Aikman, talk about a great throw, a great catch, and a great run.

"...and then it's Keystone Kops."

I still laughed!

Believe it or not

I said “They look like Keystone Kops” about two seconds before Troy did. I lol’ed pretty hard.

Amazing

This was an awesome play, and is was hilarious seeing the 3 Packers players hit each other than fall down. Those 21 teams that didn’t take Harvin are probably urinating themselves right now. And the 6 teams that didn’t take Peterson are still trying to imagime what winning feels like.

Go VIkes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

great win, but it really shouldn’t have gotten any closer than that

Percy, Percy, Percy!

Percy Harvin, what a play. Packers go flying like bowling pins.

We’ll have this memory forever. Thank you Brett and Percy and Vikings.

deadpan...

that guy is a horrible commentator…

I BELIEVE...

Brennaman was solid

I respect your view. I just have to give my view because it’s a different take.

Thankfully, Thom Brennaman is not Joe Buck. Joe Buck would have done the Vikings game, but fortunately he was busy doing the World Series. Joe Buck over-emphasizes everything. He strains every word, trying to squeeze drama out of the routine. Joe Buck is a pain to listen to

Aikman is a great analyst. Brennaman was good and steady. He might be as good as the understated Pat Summerall one day. I wish Fox would drop Joe Buck from broadcasts and use Brennaman and Aikman as their #1 crew of NFL commentators.

Being better than Joe Buck doesn’t say much. JB grates on me, but TB is pretty uninspiring.

Mostly agree about Brenneman

Yeah, that was the most unexcited disrespectful call I’ve heard in a while. He’s probably a closet Green Bay fan and was ticked at the TD – what else explains his complete inability to generate any enthusiasm for an exciting moment in a great game?

As for the comparisons to Joe Buck, that was never the contention. The contention here is that Brenneman is boring to listen to and I 100% agree – he basically took a huge amount of excitement out of that play. Great job, Brenneman. Go back to calling Golf or something – it fits your style better. \:(

Down field blocking was incredible. I believe it was Greg Lewis. Awesome stuff.

Yes it was Lewis

or at least that’s how I recall it.

Would love to have a poster,

of that play just after Harvin makes the catch, with the 3 defenders on the ground. My favorite moment in the game.

Aikman clearly has a thing against Favre

at one point in boradcast he siad something like “I’m sure there was stuff that he did that those that still support him would think very different if they knew.” Or something very vague-and-speculative-yet-negative like that.

Does anyone else remeber something like that. It was like total “antimatter” to the love that Favre usually (used to) get from broadcasters.

Ridiculous

The lack of emotion by both commentators on such an incredible play. I hope this finds it’s way back to Fox so they can see what “it doesn’t do” for their broadcasts.

On the other hand

Two years ago, if the announcers gushed over a Brett Favre play, we’d have been screaming at them to shut the hell up.

by JasonW on Nov 2, 2009 8:44 AM CST up reply actions

eh.

an announcer could get excited and go on and on about Harvin on that play… Farve threw the ball, behind Harvin…
That play was ALL PERCY. and it WAS exciting… yet, that call was pedestrian.

I BELIEVE...

Dead on

The throw was pretty darn good too into the middle of 3 defenders… but Harvin did make that play.

The best play-by-play ever

It was Pat Summerall, and they probably did it many times. Here is the whole thing:

Montana……. Rice……. Touchdown! (crowd noise)….(time passes)…. (crowd noise)…..(John Madden says something)

My new favorite Green Bay vs. Minnesota moment

This one replaces the classic Randy Moss mooning (so awesome, so appropriate in that moment) as my new favorite Packer moment – the utter bumbling matched against Percy Harvin’s fantastic play is sheer awesome. Totally a classic.

by Wytefang on Nov 2, 2009 10:52 AM CST reply actions

Ditto

I, along with all other Vikes fans, LOVE this play! Not only a touchdown, but the Packers looked STUPID and CLUELESS!!! “keystone cops” is right (though I hope the one guy isn’t hurt seriously). We’ve seen that against the Vikings, so it’s time we got one of our own.

I’m still giddy over this win.
Remember when we were horrid on the road? No longer! Couldn’t play on grass? No more!
When 3rd downs meant we were going to punt? Now they’re first downs!

Our O-line is doing well in pass protection, AD, Percy, BB, Rice, Shank, Chester, Favre…. holy crap, Batman.

Our D stood tall in some short field situations, too. I’m TOTALLY jazzed.

GO VIKES!!!!!
