Found this mock 2010 NFL draft

Vikings take a TE in the first round?

Star-divide

I think that whoever put this together missed the mark with the Vikes but then again if it makes us talk about football then thats a good thing!

Largely I think the picks are logical but in the case of the Vikes if you read the analisys by the Vikings pick

you will see they trash Shiancoe!

Enjoy!

Shiancoe is a fine receiver

but he has trouble with run blocking. I don’t believe that it is enough of a downside that the Vikings would select a TE in the first round though.

same

whoever wrote this list obviously hasn’t watched the vikings play

I would have a signature... but it could cause a schism on this site

What are they thinking

Do the mockers think that the Vikes are that inept in the draft that they would risk it on a player that is coming off of knee surgery.

I was thinking

We would maybe look for a guard to train under Hutch& Herrara

Mock drafts in November are for garnering hits, not much more.

And if the Vikes are going to risk a pick on an injured Sooner, at least let it be Sam Bradford. ;)

Could it be the Favre influence?

The Packers acquired a former 1st round TE (Keith Jackson) and drafted a TE in the 1st (Bubba Franks). The Jets drafted Dustin Keller in the 1st the year that Favre arrived, and I may have missed one somewhere in there.

A good TE is a QB’s best friend. If the TE in question is anything like Tony Gonzalez or Antonio Gates or Kellen Winslow (or even Chris Cooley or Alge Crumpler or Vernon Davis with fewer attitude/work ethic issues), then I hope that the Vikings select him. That sort of talent will definitely make it much easier for a new QB to shine early on.

Best Player Available Baby

We have the benefit of going best player available. Whoever that is, I have the utmost confidence we will draft him. Personally, any lineman (O/D, Inside/outside) would be a preference for me. Nothing sexy about it but this game is won and lost at the line of scrimmage.

Here are our needs

The Vikings are pretty stacked right now talent wise so it is tough to think of who they would take. Safety, quarterback, defensive tackle, and offensive guard are all obvious ones but not sure who they would take.

Thing is that a lot of our positions like linebacker, cornerback, tight end, and maybe fullback we don’t necessarily need a first round type of talented player.

I look for the Vikings to focus on raw talent and be willing to take a couple years to develop guys. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they used picks to trade again. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they traded down to get a high caliber QB.

Defensive End

I’ve saw quiet a few saying you guys might take Carlos Dunlap.

Why do you kill threads????

Ahhh....

…they’d probably need to trade up to get a high caliber QB, but I could be wrong. I think if Favre retires they sign TJ for a few more years (like two at the most) and have him and Sage compete for the starter position maybe drafting another “project” QB in the later rounds.

Would rather get

Brian Price the DT that they were going to give the Colts.

A different mock draft......

has the vikes selecting a D.E. to possibly replace Edwards.

by PurpleCrush on Nov 12, 2009 9:19 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

I don't know

I think DT unless we’re picking on up in FA will be a big deal for us. It would be nice to up some of our non pro bowl players, but I think we need to make sure that no holes suddenly appear in our line in the near future. I wouldn’t say Edwards is an elite DE but he is good enough to get the job done.

Now QB, DT, Safety or CB I think all of those positions would rank higher. With all of that though I still say at #1 pick you grab the man with the most talent (although I don’t think I would grab a WR.)

Ray Edwards.......

is on his last year in his contract I believe. I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting a D.T. to replace Big Pat, but I think Jimmy Kennedy has done a fine job when he fills in. Kennedy is a pretty big guy too.

Chester Taylor

Is in his FA year and will be 31 years old next season.

by Belarus on Nov 12, 2009 5:03 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Who do we have behind Chester

I know AD is our main situation but an injury and we would be sorely hurting with out Chester to back him up. I’m completely positive that Chester will be gone next year so we need to think about who we will have backing AD up. I still believe DT is our biggest worry, there is a reason Kennedy is a back up player after all and hasn’t split off to another team to try his luck there.

Backups to CT

Albert Young, who looked very good in the preseason, and Ian Johnson, who looked alright.

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
SKOL!
