This Week's Sign of the Apocalypse

As it stands right now, there are ten Minnesota Vikings leading the NFC in Pro Bowl Voting at their respective positions. This is probably to be expected, as the Vikings are currently 8-1, lead their division by three games, and are on track to get a first round bye. This, however, is not the sign of the apocalypse.

Star-divide

This link, from the Pioneer Press, lists the Vikings who are currently leading their position in Pro Bowl Votes. Let's look at some of the more notable names:

1] HB Adrian Peterson? Check
2] DE Jared Allen? Check
3] OG Steve Hutchinson? Check
4] DT Pat Williams? Check
5] K Ryan Longwell? Check

There are a couple of pleasant surprises on that list, including Percy Harvin, John Sullivan, and Heath Farwell. Bryant McKinnie also leads voting among tackles, but that's not this week's sign.

Among all fullbacks. Naufahu Tahi leads the NFC in Pro Bowl votes. I get it, fullback isn't even a real position on most teams anymore, and it's pretty much a token spot for guys like Mike Alstott to get a free trip to Hawaii (Or Miami this year), but come on, really? Naufahu Tahi, Pro Bowl?

I don't think so. Homey don't play that.

Get your bottled water, food rations, and fallout shelters, folks. The end is nigh.

Interesting

I would have thought Kevin Williams more likely to make it that Pat.

What?

This story is so bogus I almost doubt its validity. I mean, the Pioneer Press has never let me down before, but seriously? Is this true? And on top of what you’ve already pointed out, did you notice that nearly every Vikings starter is in the top ten including our weakest link, both safties? No way! If this continues, I refuse to vote, watch, or even acknowledge the Pro Bowl from now on.

Yup

Given there are 16 teams in the NFC, and that some people either:

1] Only vote for someone based on the team they play for (See: Tahi, Naufahu)
2] Only vote for someone based on their team having a winning record (See: Tahi, Naufahu)
3] Have no f*cking clue about football and shouldn’t be allowed to breed (See: Hawk, AJ and Tahi, Naufahu)

I can see why there are so many Vikings getting votes.

Oh... my... god

I didn’t even notice AJ Hawk. That ones almost worse than Tahi. Hawk is nearly invisible on that defense this year. In fact, he’s being subbed out with regularity for guys like Chillar. Let me add another couple reasons people apparently seem to vote for a certain player:

4) original draft position
5) success and fame in college

We weren't using him correctly

I’m actually glad for Sharper, he’s turned his career around and New Orleans defensive scheme is certainly a large part of the reason.

No Rice, no Favre? Looks like people are just seeing “Minnesota VIkings” along side the names and clicking yes on them. While most I agree on, Allen, Harvin, A.P., Longwell, there are the two abvious ones that should be on there and a few borderline at best ones.

"If you're gonna shoot, shoot, don't talk."
"That is the craziest sonofabitch I ever saw, how many more like him do you think are up there?"
"We have clearance Clearance. Roger Rodger, what's our vector Victor?"

Rice

Rice is doing great for Minnesota but I’m not sure he’s the best of the best in the NFC. Favre the same thing. He’s doing great for his age and his come back but is he really the best QB in teh NFC? I think people in NO would disagree. As for second best I think there are a lot of QB’s that would probabl be up there with second best in the NFC as well.

Favre the best?...at the moment... Yes!

from Yahoo Sports

This week (10), Favre became your NFL leader in quarterback rating. In a year where we’re blessed with five different quarterbacks with a rating of 100 or better, Favre stands at the top. He’s thrown 285 passes, and just three of them have been intercepted. Favre might be asked to do a little bit less than most guys on this list (he’s 16th in the league in pass attempts), and he might be in the most quarterback-friendly situation in the league, but he’s been close to perfect. Wrangler sales are even up.

Favre – 17 TDs, 3 INTs, 2269yds, QB Rating 107.5
Brees – 19TDs, 9 INTs, 2559yds, QB Rating 104.6

I BELIEVE...

Hey, lay off the Tahi!

If you need a half a yard on a swing pass in the flat, there is no one, and I mean no one, in the NFL better equipped to handle that assignment than the legend that is Nafahu Tahi.

"We're used to Favre-a-palooza now. We're engulfed in Favre-a-palooza. It's not even Favre-a-palooza anymore. He's family now."

You know what’s confusing about Tahi. He played RB (not FB) at BYU. BYU is a pass first, pass often team. So you’d think the RBs in their system would recieve alot of swing passes. Yet he can’t seem to handle such complexity in the pros. Makes no sense. Any BYU fans out there wanna clarify?
