Whats a Used Dome Stadium Worth??

It is Reported that the Pontiac Silverdome just sold at absolute auction for $585,000.00. Yes, that's thousands.   It was built at a cost of $55 MIllion dollars and could be built today for a price of  750 Million Dollars.  Here is the auction site.

For those not following the New Minnesota Stadium issue this is the reason the old Metrodome will need to be torn down and a new stadium created on the site.  These buildings are only good for about 30-40 years and have no economic value at the end.  But if you have a great idea of how to use an old dome stadium and make money now is your time to make some real money.

One of the reasons why my thought is when you build a stadium, you build it big enough with all the bells and whistle’s first, and leave room for major expansion later on. Though I know the NFL and owners will still be greedy and want their own Jerryland every 30 years if not sooner.

The economy is bad,

thats why that dome was sold for such a low price. Thats my only explanation for it being such a low price

Maintenance

…must be ridiculous on a structure that old, especially now that whatever it’s used for will surely generate less revenue than 8+ NFL games.

Economy is horrid in Detroit

Much worse than bad. Some foreclosed houses are selling for $1 there.

Hard times are everywhere, but Detroit’s getting kicked in the guts.

I read $1.5M/Year maintenance...

AND not generating tax revenue for Pontiac or Michigan…
The Canadian Company that put in the winning bid wants to house a Pro Soccer team…

I BELIEVE...

Oh yeah, that'll be popular in Detroit.... NOT

You'd think the land it's sitting on would be more valuable than that
