Fun fact

There are currently 32 quarterbacks in the NFL who have thrown more interceptions this year than Favre has.

There are currently 41 quarterbacks in the NFL who have fumbled the ball more times this year than Favre has.

There are only 31 other teams.

I just thought that was worth noting, and hope that I can get in the required number of words before the jump; I forgot what the requirement is.  (whoops - but now I know).

I love it.

It’s funny how all the Bears fans were talking about how crappy Favre would be and he would throw all these interceptions, and how Cutler was going to take them to the SB and whatnot.

Same with those damn Puker fans.

Totally Amazing! :)

This from the NFL’s all-time interception leader, lolol!! Makes one wonder how many of his interceptions were due to the team he had around him….

LIke his highlights,

his lowlights make it to the TV shows, so he’s kind of known for both. He’s had plenty of ugly, incomprehensible interceptions. But he’s also had lots that aren’t, tipped balls and what not. Mike Sherman used to like to have him throw bombs into coverage when it was 3rd and really long because he threw so far it was like a punt. He’s also had teams where the receiving corps was Driver, Antonio Chatman and Taco Wallace. Seriously. And other than some of the early years, his O-line hasn’t been very good. When they whiff on a block against Rodgers its all their fault, but when the very same players did it with Favre and his arm gets hit when he throws, he’s a bum.

Sacks

So far, and especially in the first few games of this season when the O-line wasn’t clicking yet, Favre was getting dumped on his can quite a bit. However, instead of panicking and trying to dump off the ball, he’d tuck it in and take the sack. Perfect ball-protection, he accepted the loss of yardage and pressed on. That attitude has made a huge difference in the turnovers too, there’s less change for a gratuitous screwup.

Every time there’s a turnover, the team gives up more than just possession of the ball. They give up field position and worse, they give up momentum and morale. Favre hasn’t been much cause of that, and hopefully that attitude will start catching on more.

He's comfortable in Wrangler

Brett knows, he wanted to be here last year. He’s a good fit here. Having the best year of his career. He isn’t forced onto being the gunslinger. He can pick and chose. He has plenty of weapons and he’s getting more familiar with them every week.

Still a Gunslinger

Remember that pass to Greg Lewis in the end zone…. or all those thread-the-needles he regularly tosses with reckless abandon and absolute confidence? Come on, once a gunslinger, always a gunslinger. And I absolutely love it! :)

The only thing he seems to be doing with great care and deliberation is spreading the ball around to all the receivers, that can’t be an accident. Even Tahi is getting a good share of receptions this year, incredible. Keeps the opposing D from keying on anyone, and I love that too.

No more beer for those who preferred a “game manage” behind center, lol!

The throw to Harvin with 3 guys in the area – even he said that probably wasn’t the best decision.

Comfort Zone

It’s such a huge difference between him and T-Jack though… T-Jack made throws like that too, sometimes. The difference was that T-Jack ended up with more INTs trying to do it.

When T-Jack stepped up behind the center, my blood pressure immediately rose. If I was a nail-biter, I’d be chewing my fingernails, watching T-Jack call the play and drop back to pass. Internally it was, “OMG, what’s going to wrong this time?!?”

When Favre drops back to pass, and this was the case from the very first time I saw him take the hike, I’m always relaxed. I’m excited, can’t wait to see what he’s going to accomplish each time, but I’m not worried about him and what he’s going to do. I know he’s going to do his best and his best will be pretty good. My blood pressure stays lower, too :)

Gunslinger...

He can still make plays with his arm – sometimes beyond expectation…
But he’s not the same ‘Billy the Kid’ kind of gunslinger – doing it all by himself (IMO).

He’s more of a… Bill Doolin.
Surround yourself with other ‘bandits’ who can get the job done, enjoy your job, still take some shots on your own, reap the rewards of teamwork. (I’ll leave out the die violently part)

Eagles, anyone?

I BELIEVE...

Very true

He goes out of his way to make sure everyone’s included in the success of each play… that everyone’s encouraged and praised when they do well. Leadership 201. He does it easily, effortlessly, so it rings sincere and players respond.

I wasn’t a Favre fan earlier this year, didn’t care much one way or the other. He was just a piece we needed. But the more I see of him, of how he leads and interacts, how he gets everyone involved, obtains ‘buy-in’ from the whole team including the coaches, the more I really like him. And the more I understand how the Packer fans feel about losing him.

America's Quarterback!

’nuff said.

In 9 years since I left Minny, the Vikes have been on network teevee like, twice a season at most. Now, you can’t (at least in L.A.) tune in Sunday without seeing Purple!

I’d love it if that was because we’re kicking the crap outta’ the NFC, or we have a bad-arsed team that’s fun to watch…but if we didn’t have Farve, we could do both and still nobody would care.

But the guy’s catnip to football fans, and T.V programmers.

Also helps when it’s 3rd and 8 (what DC just said) and you think, dang, we can get this!
