future of the vikings
can you guys and gals imagine what the offense will look like with percy harvin, all day, sidney rice, shianco is still young, jaymar johnson and the other punt returner whos name i cant remember now, the line isnt too old. if we can find a qb that doesnt throw interceptions and can run this offense. wow is all i can think of.
Is sage the answer, i dont know, tjack. they both better be taking notes of number 4 and asking questions. if sidney rice can have a great offseason and work hard others can step up also.

They'll still need a QB under 40 unfortunately
but they are loaded with playmakers
Jimmy Clausen next year please
Vikings 4 the superbowl
Maybe
but I doubt he makes it down to us. We’ll be drafting late, hopefully last.

ya if we really want him, we could always trade up
Vikings 4 the superbowl
Start ready??
Can you honestly believe we will be able to get a starting QB in the draft and not pay a fortune for him, an unproven commodity, who will set the bench if BF plays another year.
If there is a starting QB in this up coming draft, trust that he not making it past 8.
Rams
Raiders
Chiefs
Browns
Redskins
Buccaneers
Panthers
Titans
Bills
and possibly Seahawks

Raiders have too much money invested in Russell, Chiefs also with Cassel,Bucs have Freeman
McCoy,Bradford,Locker,Tebow and Clausen are all first round possibilities
Vikings 4 the superbowl
I hear you
but we know Al Davis will buy the best it doesn’t matter if he has that position filled or not. Also Tebow is a definite project at QB, don’t get me wrong he is good, but he needs a lot of work to be an NFL QB. That leaves 4 possible QB’s for about 5 or 6 teams that will be picking somewhere in the 1st 15 picks.

Absolutely no Jimmy Clausen, please.
I used to date his high school English teacher, and from what I’ve heard, he doesn’t have what it takes (not that she’s really an NFL talent evaluator, but what I’ve heard has not at all been flattering). He’s entitled, incapable of rising to an occasion of import, and not particularly bright. (Jay Cutler, anyone?) He stunk it up his first two years at ND. Frankly, I’d rather have Ryan friggin’ Fitzpatrick at the helm of the Vikings’ ship than Jimmy Clausen.

Already have 3
I agree that we need to find a franchise QB for the future, but we need trade one. We cant draft a QB next year and keep 4 on the roster.
Will Farve retire if he wins a superbowl?
Elway effect
Don’t know. Alot were thinking Elway was going to pack it in when he finally won a ring, and held out for one more year and repeated. Favre is enough of a competitor that if we do win a ring with him at the helm, he may stick around one more year and see if he can repeat. But again, it also depends on what his body tells him too.

Horse trading with the Skins
I would personally like to see a young gunslinger like Colt Brennan, who sits presently as an IR third string QB for the Redskins, be acquired by the Vikes. I watched that kid play at the University of Hawaii for June Jones and he is a phenomenal passer, setting seven NCAA records over the span of his college play.
Sure, he needs to be developed, but I think he is being wasted on a minor franchise who will probably not give him playing time for another two to three seasons. I liken him to a young BF, raw talent waiting to be honed to a very sharp point.
4 + 28 = XLIV
Indeed!
I can’t remember a Hawaii quarterback ever making it in the NFL, but Brennan showed plenty of moxie airing it out in the WAC. We could probably get him for cheap, too.

Speaking of Hawaii
Al Noga was one of my favorites back in the days of the second incarnation of the Purple People Eaters in the late 80’s.

i love colt brennan
i was hopeing that we would pick him over JDB
Vikings 4 the superbowl
I second the Brennan option
I’m a big fan. The guy is knocked because of his physical stature. Not tall enough. thats horse. The guy can pass with needle accuracy. He can move around very well to take away his physical inability to see over players. The Redskins would be starting him if he wasn’t injured. The only thing the poor Redskins havn’t tried to get a spark is change quarterbacks. Brennan would do that for them, but he is on IR.
SKOL
And supposedly Doug Flutie wouldnt be able to do anything either because of his height as well. He was one I always liked and I bet would have kicked ass given a legit chance on a great team. He sure made some mediocre (Buffalo, San Diego) teams look good.

I think Favre will retire for good after this year
Jackson will get an extension, and he will compete with Rosenfels for the starting spot. They’ll bring in some scrub from somewhere to fill the #3 spot.
I would like to see the Vikings favor the D in this next draft. They need better talent with their DB’s, and they’ll need another DT if K.Williams retires.
Haha yeah, sorry, I screw up like that sometimes :)
Phat-Pat Williams. He could possibly stick around for another year, but if the banned substance abuse thingy comes up again, I see him retiring.
The Future is bleak
can you guys and gals imagine what the offense will look like with percy harvin, all day, sidney rice, shianco…
… all running wild and scoring a ton of points for LA and their stoned fans. Ya, I’d personally rather not think about the future right now because, frankly, I don’t think there is one.
Don’t hate me. Hate the legislature thats letting this bull**** happen to us. I already know the name, email, and phone number of my district’s representative by heart. Do you know yours? Point your hate in thier direction, not at a hurting fan like yourself.
I don't hate you
but sarcasm comes across poorly via the internet. I hate the process that is going to give the Twinkies a stadium, the Gophers a stadium and leave the Vikes out in the cold. Hell on my tax return where it states would you like to give $1 to the re-election fund I crossed the words out and put in to buy a new Viking stadium…
Don’t live in Minnesota havn’t in a long time I guess, still remember Apple Valley, and Winnona, good times but wish there was a way around this that people would accept.
Thanks, Debbie Downer!

Troy Smith
If we can’t draft a Qb then we should look at Troy Smith from Baltimore. A free agent next year. He was scheduled to start last year but Flacco got the nod when Troy was injured. Baltimore was really high on Smith but he was injured at the absolute wrong time in history.
At least he is still yong and has some experience.
i would love to see Smith or Brennan
im huge fans of these 2 and think that they both could be great quarterbacks, espically Colt, he is my favorite player in college ever, was so mad that people write him off, he will get his chance one day and will be one of the best QBs in the league, hopefully here
Vikings 4 the superbowl
Andrew Walter?
he’s not even on a squad right now – so he’d be super cheap. Sure he wasn’t good on the Raiders, but that team made Moss look bad. He’s not 40, and hasn’t been hit in like 3 years. Oh, and he broke Elway’s Pac-10 TD record.
It’ll never happen, but he’d rock with our offense.
(submitted knowing full well most of you are going to hate this idea – but we do have to fix the post-Farve QB riddle, might as well throw this idea into the mix)

Great idea
I like the thought of bringing in a guy like this to training camp. But I have to believe that if he couldn’t beat out an undrafted rookie QB with no experience to back up Brady at NE then he probably doesn’t have “it” at all. A strong arm isn’t the only thing needed. I would let him try out but I wouldn’t sign him as a better pick over T-Jac or Sage today.
There is a QB sitting in AZ as well that is a FA next year
No I’m not talking about Leinhart either. Personally, if they could I (if I were chilly) would open QB try outs to just about everyone.. Get 20 of them in your damn preseason camp.
