Clear Something Up For Me
What i have been hearing is that the owners of all the teams have to vote on if a team can move. And so if this is true, then is it a majority vote or something. If this is true then this might prevent a team from moving, because they want to keep a good team in supportive market. Yea i am worried about the Vikes, but out of the handful of teams that might move, the Vikes are the least likely to move(except for the stadium situation).

I wonder the same thing!
People have been making it seem that if a stadium don’t get built in time, that’s the worst case scenario or something and I’ll team would have to move!
Why Do People Question The Vikings' Status?

See...I just dont think moving will happen
It would be crazy for the NFL to just wave its hands and erase decades of Packer, Bear, and well…I guess Lion rivalry memmories. People think NFC North when you mention cold, hard hitting, bruising games.

They do have to Vote
When one buys a franchise its like being admitted to a club. You have to abide by the rules. Why? That’s the price of admission. The idea is that teams can be only sold if the decision is not detrimental to the league. However each owner wants to be able to sell his team when he wants so casting a negative vote now can cost you later. Who would Zig ever vote for if he gets turned down.
Good teams with strong fan bases have moved before. Rams to St. Louis. Browns to Baltimore. Baltimore to Indy.
The Vikings are posturing right now which is a good negotiating tactic. I’m sure a viable solution will be worked out but both sides have to want to come to a solution. If the State of Minnesota does not want to help finance a new Stadium then the Vikings will be forced to move. If they do accept that fact then the teams can negotiate the terms of the deal.
The owners share revenue among themselves. If in the long run the Vikes moving to LA is good for them then they will all vote yes. If they can make money in Minnesota they won’t mind staying.
Won't keep the Vikings in Minnesota
The NFL owners have never voted to prevent a team from moving. They will never vote against moving the Vikings to LA. They would vote unanimously to allow it. The TV market is a lot bigger in California.
Does the city of Green Bay get a vote?
Because if it came to an owner vetoing the move I’d guess they’d actually be our best friend.
Green Bay gets a vote
The Green Bay team is a Corporation owned by some citizens of Green Bay. They will never vote to move their team. They don’t care about other teams leaving except if it hurts the league as a whole. In this case if the league allows the Vikes to move they are still saddled with teams in worse situations. The league owners won’t move the Vikes unless the State of Minnesota decides that a new stadium is not going to happen. At that point they will have no interest in staying.

You nailed it when you said:
because they want to keep a good team in supportive market.
And you’re absolutely right on that. However, what we the fan thinks is a supportive market and what the owners think is a supportive market are two different things entirely. You think it’s a filled stadium with a loyal fanbase. The owners think it’s a team that makes a pisspot of money, which the Vikings do not. As it stands, owners of the other 31 teams subsidize the only one losing money, according to Forbes. That would be the VIkings.
Let’s say you’re an owner, who’s sending X million dollars to the Salt Lake City franchise, and they have an offer on the table from a Boise ownership group to pay you (in an equal amount to the other 31 owners) XX million dollars, PLUS you’ll no longer have to pay the Salt Lake City franchise money (in terms of less revenue sharing money), because they’ll now be turning a profit.
Why the eff should you care whether Salt Lake City moves to Boise? You have no loyalty to either city or their fanbase, and your wallet will get fatter.
Trust me, there will be a near unanimous vote to relocate if it ever gets to that point with the Vikings.

I agree
The difference in making money and losing money for the Vikes is additional revenue from a new stadium. Its that simple. The State must give assurance that they will pony up or the business side of the NFL will have to admit that the future lies elsewhere.
This doesn’t mean that the State of Minnesota will vote to supply capital for a new stadium. That is a question only the taxpayers can answer. It just means that the result is obvious if they fail to address this issue.
Whether one agrees or disagrees with public financing of stadiums the fact remains that this is the question the state of Minnesota faces.

Exactly
And that’s why the Cowboys owner was lobbying the Minny State Legislature on behalf of the Wilfs, telling them that the stadium needs to be built. They’re not happy about having to ‘carry’ the Vikings share of the profits, right now the Vikings ARE the red in the account books.
If it comes down to a question of the owners approving the move, the Vikings will move.
Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!
