Week 11 thoughts and ramblings.
Moves from the 'losing' Cheifs to the 'winning' Bengals and WHAAAT!!!???
The Bengals lose and the Cheifs win. I'm not saying it was Larry, but I'm not saying it wasn't either.
Man... Did Stafford look like a stud QB this week or what? I know, it was against the Browns, but if he keeps playing like that (and Cutler continues to be Cutler), we might have a new team at the bottom of the division, Da Bears!!
GBP - Ouch. They lost some major pieces of their defense this weekend. That's gonna hurt the rest of the season. Is it too early to say goodbye to their wildcard chances now?
2 10-0 teams, one in each conference... historic, but both looking like 'lady luck' has given them each, at least, one win this season. They've got weaknesses... let's hope one of their opponents exploits it soon. I want the Vikings to have HFA this season.
It's Bears week... we get them at home... they look like crap... but they still worry me. What do we expect from their fans on the blogs this week? Preseason... it was Cutler is the Savior, Brett is the worst...

Da Bears suck.
Come on Lions. Yeah that would be great to see the Bears finish last. Well lets do our part and beat them twice. Hey the Lions are only 2 games behind the Bears. I think the Lions could bushwhack the Pack on Thursday. Wouldn’t that be sweet.
That would be sweet!

Clinching the Division
If that happens, the Vikings clinch the Division this coming weekend :)
We need to win 1 more game, and the Pack needs to lose 1, and it’s done.
Then the full focus goes to home field advantage in the playoffs, and PA vs PF could be very important if we make it to the NFC Championship.

No, can't clinch this weekend
The Packers are 6-4. Another loss would make them 6-5. The best they could do would be 11-5.
The Vikings are 9-1. Another win would make us 10-1.The worst we could do would be 10-6.
If they did their best, and we did our worst, they would still win the division.
Patience. One game at a time. Beat the Bears.

I stand corrected
I was thinking there were 5 games left (week 11), but at 9-1 and 6-4, there’s 6 for each of us. We need a double.

Hey DC
This year reminds us old timers of the good old days when the Vikes usually had the division and their playoff assignment locked up by Thanksgiving…
Heh, yep, with the shorter season. You probably remember all those Thanksgiving Day games played in the snow, too. :)
I miss that a lot, but I know how important the benefit is to having a roofed stadium…

Thanksgiving 1969
was the best one when they played Detroit at old Tiger Stadium in a blizzard. That was the game when Jim Marshall made that amazing lateral to Alan Page who ran it in for a touchdown. Final score: Vikings 27 Lions 0.
Very Gritty Performance
He will be scary when he gets a team to play with….
They may build it now that they have some new folks on board…
Ah well, competition is good….

I hope the Lions win a few more
They’re a rising team and I’d rather not see them have a high draft pick. We’ll still have to play them 3 years from now.
Despite the media hype around Sanchize and his 3-0 start (flopping since), I was concerned that Stafford was going to be drafted in the NFC North and we would be facing him twice a year for the foreseeable future. If Detroit can just get passed the Matt Millen years and get some talent for Stafford and Calvin Johnson to play with, he should turn out better than the whiners in Chicago and Green Bay.
A special shout out to Jay Cutler who is doing his best to steal one of Brett Favre’s records…career interceptions thrown. Mind you the way he’s playing the masses in Chicago might run him out of town long before he gets close. And the tall foreheads in the media pre-season predictions had Brett rated the 3rd best QB in the division…I believe Cutler agreed with that prediction too.
Stafford the real deal
A strong arm. Great Accuracy. Good Mechanics. Knows the pro-style offense. Multi-year starter in College. You had a right to be worried about how good this guy is. Matt Ryan and Stafford are very prototype NFL Quarterbacks. That’s why they got big paychecks and High draft choices.
Everyone should remember this when the media starts hyping guys like Colt McCoy who look great on college stat sheets but are weak armed.

Classiet Move I've sen all year
It was touching to see McNabb watching Cutler just oblivious after the game and getting booed. Reporters swarming about Jay and it was like he was in “Zombie Land”. He wasn’t avoiding press. Just in total shock.
McNabb spots him and you here him say “Jay. Come here.”
Pulling him away from everyone you could see McNabb spending a lot of time encouraging him. Jay was like a young son who just crashed his old mans car as Donovan kept talking to him. Cutler was just listening with a “Yes Sir” sort of attitude.
To see Donovan reach out to the kid and hug him and then see Jay hug him back was far from the token handshake.
Now, I hate the Eagles and the Bears…nuff said. But that moment was something every father with a young football fan should have recorded and shown his kid. The macho stuff goes so far. It is moments like that that just make glad to know there are still competitors that have a heart.
If Jay took it in, he will always remember that moment.
At the end of the day....
Donovan has/showed the compassion that I would expect but not always see….You are right on that one….good catch!
When the “game” is over, that is what will stick….Even if pundits/historians only look at the numbers/stats…Within himself and amongst his peers, McNabb will perhaps better know…
What REALLY counts….
Think back to the people you remember that stand out in your life/made a real impact (I mean a personal impact)…
How many of those individuals are remembered for the money they made, how they did in sports, or how high a position they attained in their career?
For me, the ones that made the most impact were the ones that made the time to give back some of what was given to them….
That IS “Class!”

As much as I don't give a rodents rectum
about Chicago and Philly, I didn’t watch the whole game, I just checked in on it from time to time. I saw what Mcnabb did as well. I thought McNabb showed a great deal of class.
"What is best in life?"
"To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women."
McNabb
He really is a high character guy. His great football ability is just extra.

Very cool :)
If you watched the Favre “Mic’ed Up” video, you’ll see him taking the same sort of time with Stafford, giving Stafford encouragement after the game. Yeah, it’s really good to see.

That was cool
Then, whaddya know, Stafford throws for 422 and 5 TD the next game.
Brett Favre. Get to know him.

If you watch the vid of Brett miked up
Brett gave Stafford some positive feedback(encouragement)and since then
Matthew has become a real Lion!(bad pun intended!)
Favre has to stop doing that for other teams!
